Need some advice on a honeymoon in Dec. We originally wanted to go to UK and the parts around the area but were told by relatives living there that Dec really is not the time to go cos of the weather conditions. So we turned our attention to these countries instead. We're not much of travellers and don't know much of these countries. Need some reccomendations to whether it'll be ok (not too cold or hot) to travel in Dec. Can anyone help? : )

Hi Jasmine,

Your relatives are right; December has the shortest daylight hours, arguably the most gloomy weather, and can be sometimes miserable. Especially for those who have never lived in a temperate country before.

I don't understand how Japan is different, since it has similar weather to London?

Spain yes, since it is further south and has a Mediterranean climate. The winters are milder and the daylight hours are not as short. You can also consider Southern France, Italy, and Greece.

Australia and NZ will of course, be summer, peak season, and crowded. Don't return your Geography to your sec school teacher.

Hi Raymond, thanks for the advice. I do remember that Aussie and NZ have their summers in Dec but I was wondering how hot it might be as I have heard that the different states vary in temperature.

Anyway, Spain sounds like a good idea. But what are the highlights in Spain?

Hi Jasmine,

You may find this useful: http://www.worldweather.org

I've not been to mainland Spain before, so I can't tell you. But the French Riviera is beautiful too (see the article in today's Life section), and so is Italy and Greece.

Lots of good choices to choose from.

I can only advise you on France as I've been there before, if you want more details just be more specific with your questions.

PS: side comment on that article; they paid EUR 80 per person per night to share a 5-bedroom house with a pool. If you don't need something that luxurious, we stayed in Hotel IBIS in Nice, 5 mins from the tram station, for EUR 49 per night per room (that's EUR 25 per person).

Thanks for the info Raymond. Sounds like you're a guru when it comes to France.
Will put more thought into it after my wedding day. Thanks for the help!

Hi Helen,

My hubby and I interested to go NZ for honeymoon but he dont drive and I haf no experience driving overseas.

But his friends were telling him that go NZ , is best to drive around. Is there any ways that we can make best of our honeymoon in NZ and can explore the exotic places in NZ without having to self-drive??
