Hi purpleclouds,

I had attended a wedding there n there were 36 tables. It was very cramp. If I did not remember wrongly, what was indicated on the website previously was 35 tables.

Hihi, this is my first post here. I've just signed up with GPPR, pls note that there will be increase in package price becuase of the GST increase

i just signed the package with them yesterday! haha... AD on 15 Dec 07. So is better to confirm the invitation cards 3mths b4? hmmm..i was thinking of 2mths.. maybe it abit rush.. any advice?

hi shermane,

i just went to print my invitation cards. My wedding is in mid may. I think its better to print the card 3mths before as u will have more time to do the printing and wont be so stress.

Just curious, wat's the new price package?

Hello XHZ,
the new package price is $848nett for weekends..but i got it @ cheaper rate bcos i forgo some of the items included..haha....thin the price wil increased due to the hike of GST. guess only 1% increased bcos cess is waived off.

Hi Bernice & Eraine,

Mine was the Ruby package. 854 (@7%) GST. My AD is 5 Jan. Didn consider the CESS when we sign. Shucks.

Lucky mine is on a weekday...so after the increase, its oni $695..
Look on the brighter side..tot cess will be obsolete when gst increases??

yep, we did. but the area is small, so can't take many people. coz ours was a private solemnisation with only immediate family

Hi all, can I have the contact of the wedding coordinator that u were liaising with? I tried to liaise with the banquet coordinator from SCDH but I am a little impatient and uncomfortable with her attitude.. so I am wonderng if there's anyone else that I can talk to? thankx

mine's michelle. i'm not sure where's SCDH, but over here @ GPPH, there's only 2-3 to look for. some havin vera.

talk to them, meet them, and figure if you're happy workin with them. it's important. it's the main reason why i dropped orchard hotel. the coord and us just didn't click.

zr:

you can go down and take a look at the place, if you've already talked to one of their coord. visit them in the evenin, so that if there happens to be a dinner going on, you can take a peek at the banquet room before the actual proceedings begin.

when i went, the dinner was for 29 tables. just about comfy. so 32 will be a bit stretched.

hdbanger: SCDH is the chinese restaurant up the stairs beside the front desk.

zenu: u having ur wedding at the restaurant or the ballroom? U may contact hdbanger's Michelle. Mine's Vera and I dun really recommend her.

ZR: 32 tables can be quite cramped. think the max for the ballroom is 32 tables. So check out the place on weekends when there's dinner. Check it out around 4-5pm or so. That's when the tables has been set up and before the briefing and rehearsal by the banquet manager with the couple.

to all those interested in checking out Grand Plaza Park Hotel, there's a wedding show on Saturday 28th April. Good chance to sign up with perks and discounts.

Hi all brides to be ..
i'm new in this forum. i hv went dwn to GPP yest. to view the Ballroom n am very impress with the Ballroom. I understand from the sales person that there is a upcoming bridal show on 28 Apr and very keen to sign up their pkg as the sales person was sharing with me that there is very attractive perks like free flow of beer n one bottle of wine for each table for the bridal show perk.

But, anyone can share with me on their service? as I personally hv not attended any wedding there. but heard from my girlfriend that the service is not bad.

pls share some comment with me.

Yes, i saw alot of comments in the past that has very positive comments. I'm just trying to gather more feedbacks. So far, me n my HTB is quite happy with the sales person tat show me around and also the ballroom.

Actually we walk into the hotel without any appointment and the sales person actually come down n meet us n show us around. So i'm very happy on their service on this as some hotel that we went, the hotel staff dun even bother to entertain us n not very friendly.

Im holding my ROM on the actual day itself.
Anyone did it b4 in GPPR? Can give me some pointers? I was wondering what time to start the ceremony as i do not want to it to be held in the ballroom itself. GPPR does provide a function room for this event.

i m also holding my solemnisation on the AD, however mine will be in may, so no pointers for u yet. When will be ur AD?
i m starting the solemnisation at 7pm. Hope that I can get the function room, as I think it will be quite cramp at the waterfall area.

Mine will be in Nov. 7pm starts the solemnisation and 7.30 for the cocktail. Am i right? However, we will have to get the MUA to come early so that we can get ready in time for the solm. I also feel that the waterfall area is abit cramp n its hot.. Dont want to get my makeup smudge b4 the dinner. haha

no red carpet along the march-in route during my wedding back in Dec 06 when its still under the parkroyal group. only dry ice and lights effects during 1st marchin, lights effects only during 2nd marchin.

i doubt Duty-Free Hard liquor is allowed as from what i heard from my coordinator it is against the law. Not sure if they will do exception for you...u can try asking

how long was the walk in? as in the timing. i need to have a rough idea so i can figure out what to do with mine.

i know there's 2 version, one is straight in, and another where each come from each side, and then down the middle together. did you do both? or opted for shorter?

Ours are duty paid liquor. I think most hotel dun allow duty free liquor as its against the law and may get the hotel into trouble.

There's no theme. Just select wat we wanted from wat's available. It looks plain right? But since the tables are quite cheap comparedto other hotels in the city,we dun really mind. We are the stars for the evening. not the decor. heh. I know some hotels have tie-ups wif florist, so u just go down to the florist there to decide on ur decorations. during our wedding, our coordinator say they will start this service this yr.

timing I'm not sure as it quite short, so we walked quite slowly. We chose the 2-doors (at both ends of the ballroom) approach for both marchins. n both marchins we enter thru diff doors. U can choose to enter by one door, either the left or the right of the ballroom, then go to the middle and down the ballrom to the stage. The middle of the ballroom is about 3.5 tables wide to the stage. and its abt 2 tables from the door to the center of the ballroom.

check out their weddin fair on 28th apr. you'd get a decent deal. 6 bottles of wine complimentary if i don't rem wrongly. think if you sign via UOB credit card.

as for comments, i think i'd share my views with the rest along the way, and after the AD. 8)
