Thanks for the input guys..

Btw, can check if anyone engage a professional emcee? Why did u choose him? I am looking for a multilangual of English and Chinese speaking emcee who is proven
to be a hit with guests.

I seldom goes to weddings, hence dun really have much experience. Besides, some of the emcee I like do not have any video to show his work, so dunno if I should take the risk!

Help help!!

Hi w3ita> U can ask ur friends to emcee for ur big day. Most of my frens' weddings do that. Im engaging a live band. Their professional emcee cost at least $300. So i guess tis is the rate outside bah. So i rather seek my friends help. To save cost also hehe thou still hav to bao ang baos for their help. It's up to u decide =)

My AD is Oct2011. I'm so happy to find so many inputs for GPCH here. And more anxious to c the new ballroom. Heard that they will change the dome lights to chandleiers!

Hi Luvyvel, yup they r changing it to chandeliers.. But what kind, still nobody's guess lor.. Really hoping it to be a grand new look! Hehe

I did thot of getting my friend to emcee for me, but on a second thot, engaging professional may be able to make the ambience much better in terms of engaging to the guests.

Friends tend to read from the script which I am not a fancy of.. HaiZz confused now..

w3ita> I'm engaging a professional Emcee but just that she is my Sis-in-law too. Hehe. She is able to speak both Chinese n English well. She do for many events n wedding too. If u are interested, I can send u her contact n u can ask her about price. She is my sis-in-law so she didn't charge me, will give her a good ang bao after that.

w3n: they provided some rose petals but i prepared my own confetti for the effects suggested by my PG

w3ita: we got own friends as emcees... cos it feels more personal to have our friends introducing us instead of some one we duno... but i koe of pple who engaged professional ones as well... you need some referrals?

you can give them just a guideline for a script so that they can be more natural.

Blur btb> Confetti is small piece of coloured paper rite? Cos it's light, and able to stay in air fluttering longer den rose petals. How do you prepare? What kind of papers u use and the shape u cut? I was thkin of doing it too, but afraid the effect nt as good. U're so nice! To stay tune in this forum after ur big day =) Really help a lot in ur valuable inputs.

lowpyng> I'm also a silent reader, since our AD is still far away rite? hehe.. Mine is 15Oct, a week earlier den urs! How's ur preparation? For me, nothing much nw hehe. Already book BS. Only do researching online on hw to deco my ROM at the waterfall feature of GPCH. Mayb ard year end can start DIY my montage. Start things earlier beta, den i wont b rushing when date is nearer hehe

Luyvel: no problem.. ya confetti is the small bits of paper.. i have tight budget, so do what i can... here is what I did:

- I went to SKP (google for outlet near you) to get medium size confetti cannons (4.90 each, there is a smaller 2.90 and a bigger version 6.90 i tink.

Then I got the xiongdis to line the aisle of our march in and pop them when we get through. My PG say the effect will be very nice if the moment is captured.

- next, I also use those shape punchers (got $2 each from Daiso)to punch shiny paper (got fr popular) according to theme colour and then when i have about a handful or two for each aisle table, I bought cupcake / muffin cups to put them in and leave on the table.

There are other things you can use like feathers, blow bubbles (but might land on food and cultery, so decide not to) or buy smaller bells for guests to ring you in.

I think can use fake one if not too expensive cos i have read somewhere that too much real petals on the floor may stain the gown or carpet.

w3n: great minds thinka alike! It be nice... use shiny paper!they will flutter donwards

hi all

Luvyel: i replied to you via email. forgot to tell u, u can email a little dream and they can show u some clips of the previous work, from there u can see who u prefer, hope this helps.

i will be using fake rose petals cause real one will damage the carpets. fake de easier to keep also.
blur btb, thanks for sharing! i will go daiso to buy the paper puncher to try. coz i think throw rose petals abit too common so try some other ideas. using the muffin cups is idea too! what type of shiny paper? A4 size? I thought of construction paper haha...

btw is the candy table very big?

w3n: i think those with one side shinny de paper nicer.... they are usually sold in a roll with a few pieces.... if not, can go to the previous concourse store (nearest one is beside illuma) where they sell party supplies... I think 1 piece for about 1 buck bah...

if shiny, they can catch light, nicer than construction paper...

U try and do about at least 36 handfuls? we have about 8 tables on the aisle, and you can leave 2 muffin cups per table...

I punch every night when i watch tv... ahahahhaah

the candy table is the glass table they put at the reception now, if you been to GPCH... near the bar counter.... u can ask for one album table and one candy table....

Blur btb> I didn't noe there's tis SKP party shops around s'pore. Can go check it out. Thanks! But thk GPCH aisle is quite narrow for xiongdi to stand along while we march in, guess i'll try to chk out Daiso punchers =)

w3n> thanks! received ur email, but couldn't reply private mail in office. Great! I'll email alittledream for their sample clips. oh! May i noe where do u get the fake rose petals? Wan buy more but Daiso is selling like 10pieces per box, nt sufficient.

nope, there are only three venues... ROM in front of Waterfall area, ROM @ Courtyard and ROM @ Function Room...

the pool in GPCH is too small for ROM or any meaningful activities...

Thanks for the great idea of the punch paper confetti.... What do you think if I only used one colour, white or silver? Will be like snowing. How many days u use to punch? Haha.

Punch paper confetti is getting popular n showned on various bridal magazines! We were crazy n were joking to use carpark coupons haha...just kidding
happy.gif

w3n> Haha. That is funny. Then your driving guests will b around trying to take the coupons. Haha..

Maybe have a Secretary Wedding Themed, then can throw A4 papers. Haha... will get paper-cuts all over... Haha.

Last night I try to punch the paper confetti, about 10 x A3 size paper (Silver & white colour), punch only abit only. my mum helped me too. We got so tire, the left over paper from the punch, we cut into small confetii too. End up the left over paper punch make up to more than the punch confetti itself. -_-"

Luvyvel: How many tables you have? I had 30 tables to fill up the place and the xd still have space to stand without obstructing the camera.... We opted for 2 side march in though cos too many tables for L shape.

w3n: ya, me too... still waiting for my AD photos as well... Hope i dont look too haggard... my morning hairstyle, the fringe keep dropping down cos my hair too soft, so very frustrating... I like your parking coupon idea.. come in different colours too....

Memorable Choc: I think silver would be nice... try to add some colours.. possibly something aligned to the theme you are choosing? I think the elderly might go mad seeing so much white.... shiny one will reflect light fr the cameras an ballroom lights, so will be pretty!

I punched over 2 weeks i think, about 2 hours every night... I folded the paper into half so that i can do it in half the time!

aaaa the punch is not easy to punch ah? i haven go daiso to buy the puncher. is the design small small type or the punched paper turns out to be quite big?

around how much do we need to punch? cause only need to give those tables along the march in (each table maybe two cupcake of punched papers)?

oh cause my hubby aunt's ex company was the company handling the reno and she says is already completed. most likely October i will dropby to take a look too.

blur btb, did u use multi color lighting during march in?

i may or may not view GPCH now..
cos the waterfall solemnisation area is pretty small..
only space for the solemnisation table..
no theatre seating.. the guests would have to jus stand ard...

hi julia, u can have the solemnization at e courtyard in front of e statue. I've seen couples done it and it's actually quite nice. They will remove e round tables and set up chairs for theatre seating

Julia: wow, hope you like the new ballroom.. i am very curious... feel like going down to take a look as well.

w3n: Not that hard, just need some strength bah... like hole puncher lor... i treat it as exercise after dinner...

there are 2 different size, i chose the normal size one.. the very small one is about the hole puncher size.. i tot that one too small to see shape.

I prepared about enough for 16 handfuls... and think we have the multi coloured light. not too sure if lightings will change after the reno or not.

Memorablechocolate: ya ya, pic pls! I stil waiting for my AD pic till my neck like giraffe le....

hey blur btb i went daiso to buy the puncher love shape but i find it quite small ( the puncher is pink in color de) actually i only saw one size and i prefer heard shape so i took that, there is no bigger size de. hope is not too small haha.

yes memorablechocolate, awaiting for your food tasting review and pics of new ballroom if avail =)

Hi there, I will be doing my solemnisation on the stage on my actual wedding day, probably after the first course is served...is that a good idea?? I am a little concern it will be too noisy at the background with all the guest chatting??

Hi mini, my two cents worth:
if it was me I would like to keep my solemnisation small & intimate, involving relatives & close friends.. I tink it maybe inevitable for some guests to be chattering or distracted if u hold it on stage, esp since the ballroom's a bit rectangular.. More diff to hold their attention :p

Yap, will upload pictures after my food tasting.

Mini, I don't prefer having Solemnisation on stage during banquet. I ever been to one, I didn't really pay attention cuz was busy catching up with friends on the same table. Haha. Rude i know but is just normal. It is not as touching as having it done at a quiet place, where ppl really listen to the vow n feel the touching moment.

I saw many couples do it b4 the banquet start but the guests are all hungry like hell as u know banquet always starts late with late coming guests.

Good idea with atleast one course starting frist b4 the Solemnisation but it will naturally get noisy when people is eating and with all the utensils noise at the background.

What my sister-in-law (an ex-GPCH bride) did was to hold Solemnisation early b4 the dinner start, around 5pm (so guest who want can come early), it was held at the ROM room (see the layout below) beside the banquet ballroom. After the ROM, she will remain at the reception area to greet guests who arrive n take pic. I find it nice. You can talk to your co-ordinator, think he/she can organise a ROM room for u if no1 is using it.

w3n> Ya try not to go for too small of a puncher. I think is best to have a confetti that is about 1cm in diameter. Too small will become too light, and is harder to throw higher. U want ppl to throw it above your head and fall down instead of throwing it at your face level. =)

Great! Thanks Sheryl and Memorable Chocolate for your advice! I will contact GPCH and see if they can lend me the room for ROM. Do they charge for using the room?

Memorable Chocolate - how long does ROM usually go for? My dinner will start at 8pm and is 5pm too early for the ROM?

Thanks!

Mini> ROM normally is about 15min to 20min depending on what language u chosing or both. But sometime, waitng for all guests to settle n little dragging n Solemniser checking documen n NRIC etc, will likely last for one hour.

I'm not sure if it need additional cost or not. Can ask ur Co-ordinator.

ALL> I done the confetti, for those who has my wedding website, can go take a look. Here r some pictures.
