Hi all, just checking who will be engaging "live" band on your wedding at GPCH?

I want it so much, but seems too expensive especially for them to play just for like 3 hours.

Wonders how much you paid or paying for the band? Can email me to [email protected] ? hehe

thank you!!

Hello Eldric,
I have engaged 'A little dream' for my wedding.

The band will play for 2 sets of 45 minutes, with a break in between the 2 sets. They charge $1200 for a 3-piece band. However, the band can also tailor a package to meet to your budget.

I aso wish to hv a live band but too over budget for me...Besides a little dream, any other intro or recommendations?

weixiang_06

actually, for me... i am using the time to engage my guests with

~ BS photos
~ childhood montage
~ rom video
~ morning express highlights

hence, i will not be looking at live band.. quite a waste of money imho... i rather invest in other matters...

Hi Chocolatepraline,

Thanks .. but ur band seems to be expensive. Anyone can recommend other band that is much affordable and yet is nice??

I heard of a band called "3-sessions".
Anyone engaged them before?

I am also now on the "entertainment" planning part of things. Still not much idea yet.

A live band is out of qn for me cos too expensive but A little Dream is really good. My friend engaged for her wedding before.

Alternative consideration would be to get talented friends or relatives to perform something?

I attended one where groom did magic, couple sang and the fathers sang one song each as well.

For my case, i totally not talented.... cant do anything much. But i m planning to invite my niece who was a previous Project SuperStar to come sing... just not sure if she be bk in sg by then.

chocolatepraline: you must be excited abt ur upcoming wedding! I just sent in my menu for food tasting... so little time and so much to do... did you have all the traditional stuff for GDL? I m looking to do a v simplified version wo upsetting anyone.

I only koe of a little dream n have not heard of 3 sessions.
Will the design of after renovated ballroom be available during wedding show? Did u all receive invite for the show?

w3ita

I heard that the hotel will share to the attending guests of their renovating plans and graphics during the wedding show itself. So I guess its a MUST for all of us to come !!!

Hopefully it will be nice LIKE WHAT A 5 STARS hotel ballroom should be! Make it grand please... hueheehe

Btw, anyone engage wedding planner? how much u paid for it? I dunno if I wanted to and if it is worth the money.

What about engaging outside decorator to decor the ballroom??

Eldric, no need to waste money for wedding planner lah....

its quite easy to coordinate on your own :D
take the savings and go to somewhere nicer for your honeymoon ^^

Hello blur btb,
Nope, we skipped the GDL part as his parents are both Christians & my parents don't really follow traditional practices. I guess I am quite blessed in this sense, as everything is made simple.

It is best that you ask a wedding planner for a quotation and a no-obligation consultation, if possible, then do a comparison for yourselves.

Most of us in the forum get married only once, so it is hardly a track record. Plus, it is not as if we do an "After-Action Review" or Debrief for our weddings. More like a "THANK GOD IT'S OVER" celebration.

A friend of mine actually did some comparisons and found that the engaging a wedding planner vs DIY isn't that big a price difference. However, the former might be worth the value-add. (i.e. a more awesome wedding thanks to better, more detailed decorations, unique venue, more free time and less stress for yourselves, etc.)

Eldric, actually its all up to your own comfort level.. for me and some of the BTBs/GTBs, we prefer to be in the heart of planning and execution...

i can only say for ROM, William coordinated very well with me and my ROM was perfect... the whole place was decorated up nicely... not to mention some extra perks which we enjoyed... likewise, prior to going for my overseas vocation.. i have already done my homework for the F&E days in London and Paris...

I won't be taking the optional tours.. instead, all the planning and etc (to be done during free days) are already done and finalised in singapore... its really not that hard....

these days, Google / Online Transactions and etc are your best friends...

cheers!

Just like one man's food can be another man's poison, one man's "perfect" can be another man's "crap."

Funny that one can say it is up to an individual's choice while forcing his/her own levels of "perfect" on all in this forum.

What do you have to lose when people don't take your advice anyway?

Eldric, something which surfaced while i was browsing through the forums...

you might want to take it from here

http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/6/453902.html?1269524627

all in all, it depends on what you are looking for... if you are still in your preliminary stages... it may be beneficial...

once you have already finalised your wedding venue, PG, VG, theme and etc... it might not be that useful after all.. cheers! hope it helps.

Alrighty~!

I'll take that as you agreeing with me on the advantages of hiring a wedding planner.
It's extra-nice of you to admit that your initial views weren't exactly all correct with the additional reference.

All goes to show how far people will go just to feel that others are listening to him/her.

ah yes... VICTORY IS SWEET!

Hi chocolatepraline, u mentioned 'A little dream' is charging u $1200 for 3-piece band. Does it include a wedding singer? Is it $1200 for each set of 45mins or for total of 2 sets? Thanks.

Im so upset with GPCH!! Had a v bad experience with them, now I feel like forfeiting my deposit with them. Throughly disappointed with their service and regretted signing up with them in the first place.

Hi w3n, some simple deco like sash on the 5 chairs and some flower petals on the table..

Oh no Sheryl, do share with us what happened? We are eager to know..

weixiang_06

Sheryl, it would be good to share your experience with all of us, where GPCH could then also look into the matter...

Do state the details, your coordinator and etc...

likewise for my JP, many couples were very happy with him... but there are bound to be some hiccups...

for another well known JP, there were many couples who were unhappy with him, and it did turn out that that JP has changed ever since he became too popular..

do share so we can learn from it.

Hi Richard, i think u need to act fast if u like a weekend in June 2011 cause i think there are some hot dates in June.

The packages wise is the same as what was posted in SG Brides. There is nothing much in addition that i managed to negotiate with them, the package is good enough for me. The min tables is 25 (but they are open for lesser tables i think, u may check with them) and max is 30 tables. I dont think is a five star hotel ba. hope the above helps.

it's not 5 stars but im not sure how many. i tried googling on how many stars is GPCH last time.. some say 4 some say 4.5. haha..

Thank u for the Information. Now after reading the reviews in this thread I'm afraid that I might not get the date I want. Do u all think it's faster I call directly to check or email?

>jiening. Thanks. I'm Not sure about the no. stars too. Just thought of asking. I checked tripadvisor.com it shows 5 star for grandpark though.

U may call or email not much diff cause they reply pretty fast. Just quote them the date u want n they can check for u...

I think the hotel surrounding not very good lo... I was standing opp the hotel n alot of workers etc walking around...but hotel interior design n staff are all 4 star service IMO

All of you gg for the wedding show? I will miss it... just confirm photo selection this sat... post pic okie!

Richard, i think you can email them and then should be very fast got response.

If i m not wrong, 4 or 5 star is dependent on the facilities as well as no. of rooms etc.... GPCH is likely a 4 star.

That said, no worries lah... our cost is still average. Higher than restaurant, lower than the 5 star hotels.

Hello all,

I just had my wedding last Saturday & I had a really wonderful experience with Christopher, Angus & the service crew.

So far, I have only received positive comments on the dishes served. The ambience of the ballroom was also great.

Blueangel, they charge $1200 for 2 sets of 45 minutes, that is 90 minutes in total. You have got to consider having them, as it really made a big difference. The positive comments about the wedding band are still coming in till now. Yes, you can choose your preferred instruments & the number of singers. As I prefer duet songs, I requested for 1 keyboardist & 2 singers(3 piece band). You can also choose the songs that you like.
