Hi Jenny,

You mean Marie Cheong has left? She is a very nice lady. I was being attended by her in the first place and later part she assigned another coordinator to me. I did ask her if she is leaving and she told me she is not.

Hi Jenny,

Sad to hear that she is really a gd coordinator.
Currently I am attended by Hun Leng. Since you just had your food tasting, which menu did you chose and any new themes upcoming?

Hi,

We’ll be having our wedding dinner on 28 Nov 2010. Just upgraded from Camelia Room to Hibiscus Room as my guest list keeps on growing, which is a blessing too since I wasn’t too impressed with Camelia Room anyway. : ) Have chosen French Vanilla linen with Maroon overlay. For guest tables, there will be Maroon “runner†on top of the linen as well. Floral choices would be purplish and white roses in high martini glass and mini fish bowls. Next up, we would be looking for a printing firm and going for food tasting.

Still thinking whether to engage a videographer or not as that will easily set us back by $1K. Was thinking of getting one of my brothers to do the video capture and then edit the highlights myself using iMovie but not quite sure if I’ve got the time and energy to do it on AD! Any suggestion? Or cheap lobangs to share?

Moon, congrats on your lovely wedding!!! Just to check how much did u top up for the bridal suite upgrade? Can PM me if it’s ok for u?

Thanx.

princess: i took weekend menu B. not sure bout new themes, i took the white linen with gold overlay.

bret: do note tt if u have have max. capacity of 28 tables in hibiscus room, they'll have problems placing a screen in the front. printing firm, i went with T-Dragon. ur co-od can pass u a list of printers who have the Hyatt template.

Hi Jenny,

Dun think will hit 28 tables.

Yup, going to explore the printers provided by the co-od. Btw, can the color of the stage lighting be changed according to our requirement?

bret: not sure abt the lighting colour leh. check with ur co-od. oh ya, if u getting ur brothers to do video capture, find one with steady hands. haha. i've seen shaky videos before, will give u headache just from watching. if u're familiar and quick with iMovie, can DIY, but chances are, AD u'll be too busy. how abt asking around ur friends if any of them do video editing before and can help u out?

printing, urs end-Nov also quite close alr. FYI, T-Dragon normal printing of insert takes 2-3 weeks from approval. so best to check around.

Hi Bret. I'm glad u've chosen GH. I remember you considered Regent and Traders too, like I did
happy.gif
Did away with videography for the banquet, as I felt my excellent PG was more than sufficient. Engaged a VG for my day events, and he captured the important moments satisfactorily for a good price. I'm more of a "photo" than a "video" person
happy.gif

You may wanna consider a VG for the 1st part of the day (if u have the gatecrash, tea ceremony, solemnisationm etc.) and get a helper to use a tripod and a videocam during the banquet. Just my thots anyway..

Have dropped u a PM abt the bridal suite.

I went with T-dragon too. The layout for my invite had to be edited several times, but it's not becoz they were inefficient. In fact, Connie was very patient and meticulous.

My name is Jarls Lee from Singapore and I am an undergraduate at a Hospitality Management school in Switzerland. For my undergraduate dissertation, I am looking at the negotiation behaviour of prospective wedding couples looking to hold their wedding banquet at 5-star hotels in Singapore.

Your response is kindly appreciated and will aid in the completion of my paper.

Lala Lin > have you checked the hotel's website? If u need accurate figures, i think it's best to contact one of the banquet managers. They can attend to your queries too.

Princess > Written a post on my review. Here it is:
http://www.singaporebrides.com/forumboard/messages/6/1526100.html?1279527969

In a nutshell, I was PERFECTLY HAPPY with Grand Hyatt. Being quite a fussy BTB, think I had no reason to fault them at all. I'm glad u've picked Grand Hyatt. Congrats on your wedding!

For the upgrade, I paid about $300++ (i think? can't rem the exact amt). The rate was for 1 night, but I asked for the charges to be waived for the 2nd night. There's a even bigger & grander suite (a duplex) in Grand Hyatt. Uncommon huh, to find a duplex in a hotel?

But i think only couples who hold large weddings (a.k.a. many, many tables) get such a suite. 2 friends of mine who held their wedding there had the duplex as part of their package.

Hi fall4u,

I did my wedding at Grand Ballroom last year. I had an excellent coordinator by the name of Brenda Wee. You will definately enjoy her services. Thumb Ups!

Hey ladies,

i just booked my wedding at hibiscus room with Hyatt for next November, i have to say, right now, i'm pretty happy about the service provided by the coordinator. her name is Rachael.

Hyatt has a new function room called The Gallery. Different concept with bigger cocktail recep area, but the price per table is slightly higher than the usual ones. think its about $1288++.

I organised my own music & had my own helper. The technician was in the sound & lighting room at the back of the ballroom to oversee the lighting & control the volume of my music played during the montages & march-ins. He also played the background music during the banquet.

Else, u can ask to see a list of songs the hotel has, and pick all music from there. In this case, u can leave everything to the techinician.

Hey btb,

I will be having my wedding dinner on the 28th Nov this year. I would say, Hyatt has good food. but the coordinator wasnt good. My coordinator is Hun Leng. Its a rushed wedding, thus i needed confirmation from her fast. She promised to return to my emails but failed to do so. and i ACTUALLY have to keep calling her up to get the agreement done. 1 thing im happy about is, cos some1 took de hibiscus room i was upgraded to the Grandball room. and i do really like the decos and all. will do a review after my wedding. :)

just had my wedding in the hibiscus room. everything went very well, the banquet manager was very helpful and worked well with my friends who coordinated the dinner for me.

i switched my 2 nights stay in the grand deluxe room to 1 night in the grand suite, it was a fantastic choice, cos before and after the wedding when all the helpers/family come to the suite, everyone had space to comfortably sit around.

Hi,

We just had our wedding on 28 Nov. Everything went smoothly, the food was great and filling and the coordinator on AD was prompt, friendly and very helpful. Everyone enjoyed the night though I was too drunk towards the end to remember too much of the rest of the details. : ) Our overall coordinators were great. The initial one was Mandy but due to her recent promotion, Rachel took over. Both were very good and I must say Rachel helped us a lot with our additional and last minute requests. I would highly recommend Rachel to anyone who is interested to hold their wedding at Grand Hyatt.

My warmest congrats to the future brides and grooms in this forum. Take care and God Bless! : )

Hi Bret,
Guess I'll ask for Rachel then.

Hi all,

I've got ard 32 tables and the coordinator at Hyatt has mentioned that Magnolia / Vanda Room would be suitable for me, however there are pillars in the room.

Anyone has held their wedding there and could you provide some feedback?

Thank you!

Hi Eileen,

it really depends on ur priority. if u want all ur guests to really enjoy and be able to have a good view, Mag/Van won't be for u. the place can comfortably sit 36 to 38 tables max, and even if u try to skirt around the pillars, u can't skirt around them that much, cos they are quite huge. furthermore for Mag/Van, these r actually function rooms combined into 1 whole room for ur wedding banquet, n ceiling is pretty low, definitely not ballroom-like.

but if ur priority is cost-cutting, food quality, service quality, then i would strongly recommend Hyatt. u gotta be ok with the un-ballroom-like and super simple decor set-up too.

hope this helps.

Hi Pebbles,

Thanks for your help! I was really excited in getting the hibiscus room at first but my tables grow up to 32, signs guess I have no choice but to scout for other hotels! But I guess I would make a trip down to take a look.

Thank you!!
