Hi Blur,
the new ballroom not ready yet. jeanie mentioned only ready by end dec...she said we can take a look in early Jan.
our guaranteed no. of tables is 30. As for perks, got helper room till 8p.m, 2nites stay in bride suite.

Hi Moo, we intend to have it before the dinner commences at 8.30p.m. just that when we start at 7.30p.m, those late cannot come in. cos i dun pple to come in and out.

Hi Blur

No, we will wait till she calls. We already shown our sincerity by letting her zap a copy of our ic. Is time for her to show that she is serious of getting our business. Maybe she is too busy.

Hi Pooh
In that case, you got to communicate to your guests properly and ensure that you end your ceremony on time.

Hi Moo ,

When is your AD ?
I was thinking if you wait till Jean calls you and settle the contract and payment. After once this is done , she may revert back to "very busy" mode and you have no choice by then but initiate to call her everytime.
Maybe , it is due to individual's attitude. I suggest you can change to other coordinator to have your mind at ease , till to your AD.

Hi blurblur, wonder is yr coordinator "Irene" same as mine? Coz my ex-coordinator also called Irene left ard 2 weeks b4 my weddg! I was also kinda frustrated n worried esp when i cldnt get to meet up the new coordinator as she simply too busy to reply me. Eventually i only got to see her only 1 week b4 my AD. Fortunately enuff, she was quite responsible who swings into action on my big day and i muz said she did a good job.

Hi Eastlibra

My wedding will be in mid dec06.

We will be looking at another 5* hotel and we will be comparing their service with GWP. The one that provides the best service will get our contract.

Wrote quite a lot just now but there was an error in posting.
sad.gif

Anyway, Jean had resigned and Irene took over her customers. Glad that she sent me the draft contract but my heart sank when I saw the contract. The wedding package isn't the one that we wanted. A lot of details aren't the same too. Just wonder how can the handover be so bad for a 5* hotel? Too busy? Bad image and reputation...

Good luck to you, blur!

hi apple68

glad to see another GWP bride!

Actually I'm a happy GWP bride, and I wouldnt choose another place to hold my wedding, just that sometimes in the midst of preparation, there are hiccups due to unforseen cicumstances...

I went to a few hotels scouting b4 settling on GWp but i feel that the svr i get here is one of e best. The coordinators that serve me are all very warm n helpful.... They make me feel like friends esp 2 of my coordinators rather than customers.... but this also depends on whether can "click" or not...

glad u have no issue at all.... i didnt hv any problems also closer to my wedding... what perks have u asked for so far?

Hi moo ,

I am sorry to hear about your bad experience.
You are one of those unlucky potential GWP bride to be.

As you can see from the thread , there are others who shared their happy and satisfactory experience in GWP with you.
happy.gif

Nevertheless , talk to Irene from scratch regarding the perks and offers. Treat it as thought it is your first time here.

Anyway , I found the pricing has increase for the menu and the food has changed too.

Hi everyone

I still hope to hold my wedding in GWP
happy.gif

My hubby has second thoughts though. He is particular about a hotel providing decent service. I will let Irene know about my concerns and etc soon. Hope things will be better.

hi noscon, we are considering hotel intercontinental
happy.gif

i don't feel that Jean treats us like a friend, more like a customer. too bad Catherine, the first gwp coordinator, that met up with us had left cos she offers her own personal advice and opinion. let's hope Irene will fare better than her.

hi apple! nice to see you in this thread!

hi all,

I met up with Irene last evening. She's not bad. Just that she's pretty firm on the perks, guess it's not up to her to decide to give me more than others. Nevertheless, her attitude was not bad and she did not made me wait for long at the lobby. I am also considering GWP and another hotel. Will make my decision soon.

Hi moo,

I think you have joined and stayed on this thread for quite some times even though yr AD is in 2006. So i'm sure you quite like GWP as yr wedding venue. We can understand your disappointment juz bcoz of one coordinator.

Overall, my impression of GWP (as a whole) remains good despite some hiccups beforehand wif coordinator as well. My evening banquet went on very smoothly. Can still remember on my AD when I arrived the hotel after tea ceremony, I was greeted and treated like their VIP. Their hospitality & service were excellent and indeed memorable. Throughout the day. I need not worry anything abt the banquet setup as they had everything ready and in order.

As u mentioned abt hotel intercontinental, i just attended a frenz's weddg recently. I must say their hotel ambience was good due to its higher celling and bigger space & it looks grand. But in term of foodwise, I would said no match for GWP. The food portion was miserable. But hey, that's purely my two cents worth point-of-view, for yr reference only.

My wedding @tudor ballrm wasnt that grand considering only 19 tables. However I'm very glad when I had some frenz complimenting that they really enjoyed my "small" wedding wif that cozy ambience & gd food! They also commented that small wedding means couple can mingle more wif guests & that's made the guests feel more personal and appreciated.

Although the venue is important, but I guess the process of planning with the hotel coordinator being responsible and service-oriented, is vital as well. So I wish you have better luck with Irene and join as an official GWP bride soon. Stay positive

hi moo.. my hubby is very particular about service too.. almost all presentations.. he will just keep quiet and listen and wont speak much if he is not happy.. we went to another hotel before where he really "slam" the coordinator until very bad.. so perhaps.. u should give GWP another chance and see if things work out.. esp u like GWp a lot too...

for the GWP coordinator, i think she's professional as she knows when to give u advice as a friend and not being too overboard friendly.. just my 2cents worth;p

Hi cookiecream ,

Having a small wedding is what we have in plans and GWP fits the bill.

It is always our intention to have around 20 tables so that we can more time to mingle with the guests and makes them feels more personal and appreciate.

hi, i have been following this thread but never post anything until now. after reading some uncertainties over the service of GWP, i think i would like to share my experience.
my wedding is already over earlier this yr. origially we booked another hotel for our wedding but due to some personal problem, we have to cancel the booking. but in the end we need to look for a venue for our dinner again and manage to book gwp just abt 4 mths before our wedding.
its a decision we never regret. until now me and my hubby still have many nice memories of the preparation and the actual day with the hotel. our coordinator was Irene and she is very prompt in her service. realising that i was still working instead of going on leave few days before my wedding, she even dropped me an email asking me to relax and rest well for my AD. she also turned up on my AD to make sure things are fine.
further more service of the rest of the staff was also great.
the ambience and food were great too.
so gals, dun worry, u are in good hand with gwp.

hi moo,
haven't visited this thread for some time now... sorry to hear that u had an unpleasant experience with GWP. i had my dinner there in sep, and i must say that the service was very good. my coordinator was Jeanie, and she was very professional and efficient, reminding us about details that we tend to forget.

during the dinner, we had good comments from our guests pertaining to the service provided. don't worry so much, you should give GWP another chance

i am glad the GWP receives good reviews.. cos my hubby attended a wedding dinner last sat and was put off by the banquet staff.. so he is now kinda kan cheong about our own AD in Dec next yr...

just wanna check with ex-gwp brides.. did ur coordinator call u on their own initiative to discuss the details of the banquet when nearer to ur AD? cos my coordinator told me she would start calling me to discuss the details about 4 months to my AD... was wondering how late or how soon should i start on the details for the wedding dinner.. any advice?

hi apple,

My coordinator did called me up on her own, tink about 3 mths before my AD to discuss the details of the banquet. For my case, it's my coordinator who chasing after me!
happy.gif
Actually i din see the need to settle the banquet details any sooner than 3 months before AD unless you have a particular wedding theme which you have other external coordination work. Else i think the discussion is pretty standard which revolves mainly around colour coordination of table cloth & napkin, flowers, menu and wine order. They will also give u a list of their in-house march-in songs and a sample of MC speech for your reference. My discussion wif my coordinator only took 2 hrs and that's settled. Haahaa, tink we more of "chop chop", coz we couldnt always find time to meet after work and somemore Orchard area, quite inconvenient for us.

HI all...

Our wedding at GWP was beautiful! A few hiccups here and there, but nothing major. Thanks to the staff at GWP, we have very pleasant memories of our wedding!

P.S. Our suite was far from the ballroom, but it was a very nice room! A little small, but we had 2 bathrooms and the bedroom is separate from the living area. In the bedroom... king size 4-poster bed! GWP was an excellent choice for us! No regrets whatsoever.

Can I also check with you guys for GWP poolside buffet, can we actually engage outside caterer? Can we leave everything to GWP? I am at a lost at where to start.. Can someone please show their experience for poolside buffet dinner at GWP? THanks much!

HI delirious...

Welcome to the thread!

I'm quite certain you will not be allowed to engage an outside caterer for your buffet after solemnisation. But, do check with your coordinator. Leave all the arrangements to GWP for a stress-free wedding! They'll contact you for needed info like they did with us. All we did was to let them know of our flower and colour preference. Also, the type of suite we'd like. Everything else was left to GWP and our personal wedding coordinators or helpers.

Relax!!! Enjoy this time.. Believe me, it'll past you by before you know it!

Hi happygirl and delirious ,

Welcome to the GWP thread ! We have newbies.

You can check on the history of this GWP thread , there will be brides speaking about their services and food after their AD.
L.S. , cookiecream and yypp have told us about their experience. It is very recent ,take a look.

delirious,
Yes, they do. They'll cater your for you if you wish, but seriously doubt if they'll allow another caterer onto their premises. We actually had lunch in their coffee house after our solemnisation ceremony by their pool.

Yeah, i would prefer them to take care of all the catering.. i am thinking of solemisation by the pool followed by a wedding lunch.. thanks!

moo...

I'm sorry about your not-so-nice experience with GWP. Have you requested for a change in coordinator? Before you decide to drop them, do think about why you had them on your "good" list to begin with. Ask to speak to the banquet sales manager and relate your unpleasant experience to him. Who knows, perhaps they'll be able to work something out with you. But, of course, if you have already lost all faith in GWP, then it may be a good idea to start searching for another venue to hold your wedding banquet. I had my wedding banquet at the Tudor Ballroom last week. It was truly lovely. Our cooridinator was there from morning (for our solemnisation by their pool) till late at night (she was there for our thank you speech). So, our experience with them was good. A few gliches here and there, but nothing too heart wrenching. All the best to you, moo! Take heart and believe in your decision, whatever it may be. You deserve a beautiful wedding!

Hi Shymz

My coordinator, Jean had resigned from GWP. Irene took over her portfolio I think. We are under her care now.

She promised us she will send me the new contract last Friday...Hasn't receieved it...

Hi cookie,

for music seelction, are u getting from the hotel or using own? Heard from our coordinator that our own "compiled" CD are not allowed, only original... Is that the case?

cookiencream

Hi sai,

I got my own music for march-in & 1st dish presentation. My coordinator also stated that we must own our original CDs, BUT... if you hv the chance to meet up the AV team, you will get to know their requirement better.

Hi moo,

Since you have signed up and paid the deposit, it is such a waste to give up like that.

Perhaps there's some delay in the mail delivery? Last time, mine was almost a week late, just because my coordinator left out an alphabet behind my block num, but somehow it managed to return safely back to my mailbox.
happy.gif

Moo, sometimes the easiest way is to call and ask yr coordinator directly rather than guessing if she has sent it? As this is a month of festive season and may have heavy mail load, your mail may be delayed for all you know. If she hasnt follow up sending you your contract due to some 'lame' excuses, then just ask for a change of coordinator to Jeanie who was most popular among our brides.

Hi cookie,

Thanks for your reply. You mean you have gotten the contact of the AV team through your coordinator and then liaise with them directly?

cookiencream

Hi Sai,

I asked my coordinator to arrange us to listen thru the audio system, but this is only subjected to the availablity of the ballroom and during the norm office hrs. Weekend may not be possible.

cityswift

Hi cookie,

Sorry, still a bit blur... So when you went for the testing of the audio system, you passed the CD to the AV team? If not, when do we need to pass the CD to GWP? And to who?
