HI shymz,
I'm excited for you!! No, still mulling over the floral situation. Sigh... My fiance likes the colour combination (white, purple and pink). SO do I. But, I worry about it being too "sweet"...

HI all...

We'll be at GWP tonight to sample our banquet feast! Hope all goes well! I wonder if our coordinator will be there to welcome us - say hello??

HI...
Just returned from this evening's food tasting. Food was good! We tried the fruit fish with thai sauce. Think we'll change it to the sea bass. We had the chilli prawns too. So, one chilli dish should be enough. Duck was all right. Something different. There was chicken in the cold dish, so perhaps that'll do. Service was impeccable, as usual. Even got to speak to the chef! We got to see the Tudor Ballroom again, this time with our parents. Thankfully, they're pleased. OK then!! 11 weeks to go!

hi LS,
the seabass is good... fresh and delicious
happy.gif
did u find the chicken too salty?

when we went down the ballroom was closed, so my parents have not seen the actual venue yet.

3 more weeks to go for me... very anxious now... haven't done my ang-pow box and stuff yet. and still busy with the house...

HI shymz,

my ang bao box is sitting high in my cupboard, UNDECORATED! Have to bring it to be docorated sometime closer to my wedding. I'm thinking of having flowers and ribbons put in it. Since I'm no artist, I'll just have the professionals do it! They'll do a much better job and I ever could!

shymz

New Member
hi LS,
who'll be doing the decorating for you? hehe, at least u have the box. mine is less than 3 weeks away, and i don't even have the box :p

have u decided on a new theme? i'm also very tempted to change, but it's so near the date i think i'd better not do it.... just had my discussion with jeanie yesterday. turns out that they don't have the beige coloured tablecloths that we were looking for. no choice but to settle for white with red napkins (coz my flowers are red and white)... very patriotic, haha. now i've gotta look for music for my march-ins & 1st dish...

HI shymz,
You will not believe what I did today. I BOUGHT a 2nd wedding gown. I already have one from Bridal Concept that I intend to use for my banquet. But, decided to buy a less elaborate one (with a shorter train) for the solemnisation ceremony by the Mayfair Pool. Camellia Huate Coutour was having a sale on their gowns today and so I went down to take a look. They had some beautiful gowns at really low prices. Couldn't pass it up. Paid less than $300 for my gown with silver embriodery n the bodice and, skirt and train. And I get to keep this gown. Forever.

A theme for my wedding??? No theme really. I've decided not to go with Victory by Bond for our 1st dish presentation. Too many couples are using it!! It'll soon become like Shania Twain's song, From This Moment. The most overused song at weddings! Our table linen will also be white, but our napkins will also be white, unlike yours.

My ang bao box... There's a little shop at Bras Basah Complex (1st fl) that sells beautiful cards, wrappers, ribbons, boxes... Don't remember the name of the shop. But, they have lovely decorations for their ang bao boxes!

hi LS,

hehe, it's what happened during my solemnization last Dec too
happy.gif
i've one rented from whitelink, then bought another one from allure charix
happy.gif
it's really nice to have a gown to keep
happy.gif

i'm really tempted to use Black Eye Peas' Let's get it started... haha, not really a grand piece, but i love the song
happy.gif
which song will u be using instead?

as for the tablecloth, i suppose it depends on ur flowers... will u be using purple? it'll look nice with white napkins and tablecloth.

my ang pao box... hehe.. it'll be something different (not heart shaped) that my friend'll be making for me

Hello ladies

I'm a newbie and need all of your expert advice.

We have been to GWP tudor ballroom, Regent and FS. Fiance kinda like GWP but we have only 60-70 pax to invite for our solemnisation cum high tea wedding reception.

Will the ballroom look bare? Anyone can send me pics of yr wedding at the tudor ballroom to [email protected]

i kinda like the pink, purple, white flowers combination on style weddings magazine. Wonder whether we need to top up more $ for the flowers.

Do you get any freebies for solemnization package only? apart from cards & carpark? What about room?

would really appreciate yr help to send me pics as u can see...i am stressed out deciding on it. my wedding is feb 2006 ;)

cheerios

Hello hana...
Welcome to this thread! Who did you speak to at GWP? Ask your coordinator about the perks that come with your package. Depending on your needs, I believe GWP will be able to work around it, if not, they'll try to think of alternatives for you. As far as freebies and floral arrangements, it'll depend on how well you negotiate. Do come back to this thread, ya?? It nice to see newbies here!

hello LS

I am talking to Jeanie. She is friendly and i've met her only once. But I am not too sure whether the ballroom will look empty with just few tables. Thus am waiting for those ex GWP brides to send me some pics so i roughly know how it will look like.

Hana,

With less than 10 tables, will GWP release the Tudor Ballroom for your use? Otherwise, you may wish to consider a function room. They do have one! It's smaller and thus, will create a more cosy and quaint atmosphere for your reception. There is also the poolside! Wonderful place to hold your solemnisation and reception! Decorations ideas are endless... Just let Jeanie know your preferences and needs.

Yes, I can use the ballroom. They dont have other function room apart from tudor terrace and poolside right. poolside might be hot?

New Member
Hana,

Deepnding on the weather and time of day your function is, the poolside area (where receptions are held) is sheltered. So may not be too hot. Good thing Jeanie said you can use the ballroom! How will they arrange the tables? GWP has a smaller function room. I can't remember what it's called though.

Hi All,

Does any one know the maximum number of table that Tudor Ballroom can hold? Now i am doing my guest list and seem like really more than what i have expected initially...

shymz

hi EMF,

think it's 24-25... i'll be having about 23 and it's gonna takeup the whole ballroom. if u have more than that, the table arrangement would be awkward (some of them are in the area beyond the pillars)

Hi L.S.

btw, have you sent your invitation cards for printing?

btw, any suggestions what to engrave on the wedding bands?

It's been a long time since we had an update of the upcoming weddings @ GWP. Here it is.

Finally my AD is over!!
Everything went smoothly on last Sunday, though it rain in the early morning... but the weather manage to clear by the time I had my poolside solemnisation. And the most wonderful thing is there is a rainbow in the sky during the evening time where I held my wedding dinner…, which happens to be an outdoor event. Just too bad that I am still dressing up in the room when the rainbow appeared L
As my wedding dinner, it is a poolside buffet dinner. Therefore, the kids get to play the lantern during the dinner as it is a mid autumn festival too. Many guest comment that it’s a very unusual dinner that they had attended. The foods are okkie… onli some complains.
But dessert is good; especially apple crumble is highly recommended.
Overall, I am very grateful to my coordinator – Jeannie, must thanks her for all the help.

Luv Jeannie G

hi moo,

the bigger ballroom will be at the end where the jap restaurant is.

i'll be holding my wedding this coming friday
happy.gif
i think perks are quite std.... not very good at negotiating, so not sure if i got the best deal. if u don't like the favours, you can contact gwp's supplier.... i've changed mine, but need to top up a little. they have some choices that are the same cost (mainly keyrings, handphone accessories....) as for the wine, i'll be bringing my own red wine, but for other beverages (white wine, champagne etc) i'll be getting from gwp itself.

hope the info helps
