Female JP - highly recommended

I just had my wedding in Tanjong Beach @ sentosa. 3 months ago I engaged this grassroot leader MR KOH KOK WENG to solemnise our wedding in April. He asked me to go al the way to MOE to let him sign the consent form and I did it even though it was very far from my place. Few days before my wedding I called him and want to reconfirm to my horror he said it a different time. I told him that my solemnise will start at 615pm and not 630pm but he said since this is not a traditional wedding and I am not folowing any custom he will tried his best to come down from Changi to Sentosa and said that is ok as my guest can enjoy the scenery there. I felt so upset and yet I could not tell him off as it was like 4 days b4 my wedding. I looked out from the ROM website and looked under JP list and nobody really want to do the solemnise for me as this is kinda last mins. I fully understand why they refused. To my amazed, I got hold of this wonderful JP Mrs Chia Swee Tin. She asked me for the reason and right after without second word she consoled me and agreed to be my JP. But her only condition is to meet the 2 of us b4 the wedding date. She even made us write a vow of our own. But she needs someone to pick her up from her place and get her a taxi after the solemnisation. I have NO REGRETS getting her to be our JP. Everybody thinks it was such a beautiful moments when we exchanged our vow and tears were shreading everywhere. She made it so memorable for all of us. Yes I fully and totally agree with Jessica..I met up with Mrs Chia previously as she will be my JP in Oct ROM too. She is really very meticulous and we know that she wants to make our ROM a veri special and memorable one..Thumbs up for her..

guys,

if you do a search on the ROM website under the JP section, her details are already in there.

she's doin my solemnisation on 4th july. lookin forward to it. saw her for first time for briefing and paperwork earlier in the evening.

she'd do one good solemnisation for you, but in return, you need to observe some basic courtesy and protocols. (ie, play gentleman; bring her from home/workplace, reimburse her, and sent her off at the lobby, after bookin a cab for her. and keep track of timing.)

feel they are reasonable requests, considerin how much she also puts in to prepare a couple for the day.

i was one of the 6 couples in that earlier briefing, and she brought us through everything for the day thoroughly. i leave the details for you to discover.

the briefing session took about an hour to hour half for us.

so, call her, talk to her, make an appointment with her, and enjoy her flamboyant personality, with a touch of firmness and professionalism.

Hi,

Had my ROM solemnised last month by Mrs Chia too!

She is famous for asking the marrying couples to write their own vows, gentlemen gestures of driver who will be picking her up from her place and sending her to the cab after the ceremony, making sure no noise during ceremony (i.e. handphones and noisy children off), punctuality, correct announcement of her title,etc.

However, we did not regret getting her though there were so many 'rules' to follow... She made our ceremony so solemn, so beautiful and so unforgettable. All our guests were asking where did we get such an amazing JP!

Xanne, Mrs Chia can speak Chinese (a little I think) but I don't think she can do the solemnisation in Chinese. You need to check with her.

hi all, can you all let me know her rules? need someone to drive her from her place and send her back, can we offer booking of cab for her instead??? i had made a confirmation with her as my JP but i do not have any driver available....

I arranged for a friend to pick her up and my friend even offered to send her to wherever she wants after. But Mrs Chia said that she just need us to book her a cab after the ceremony to send her off... that's it. I think it should be fine to book her a cab but check with her first cos she has some expectations of the person who is picking her up from her place...

Hi everyone.

Can someone advice me how do I approach the JP to invite him/her to be my JP for my solemnisation?

How can I start to introduce myself, how to start the topic, how to put across my invitation to the JP?

I'm actually very confused on how to go about starting the process of confirming the JP for my solemnisation.

Is it more appropriate to call or email?

Sorry. I know I'm worrying about something that some of you may think it's the last thing you will be worried. But please do advice how did you do it or suggest how will you be doing it.

I have lost her email address which she had given me. Although she can't make it to solemnize for for my ROM, she even care to call me up to ask about the progress of my ROM.

Those that have been solemnized by her was so lucky.

I called her to check her availability for May 08.
She said its too early.. So she asked me to call back in March 08.

How long do you book your JP in advance?

Due to some personal reasons, Mrs Chia's not sure if she'll be able to solemnize by then.

But I'm worried if she can't make it when i call in her Mar, I may not have time to find another good JP.

How ah??

Mrs Chia was my JP. heehee.. she is a very nice lady, likes to joke. can be very strict, but she is very detailed. good good! cos we not sure what to do, she is willing to guide us along. with our personalised wedding vows, it really make my solemnisation special. my ROM pics are at the following link:
