my advise is a good layering of clothes.

1st layer ~ thermal clothings

2nd layer ~ wool long sleeves

3rd layer ~ an outer coat

plus you need good quality woolen scarf, gloves and a winter hat.

hope this helps

good thermal wear is very important. try looking for cashmere or wool. they're expensive but well worth the money coz it keeps you warm.

might get itchy with high wool content though so try cashmere instead.

also, wool sweaters will keep you nice & warm. keep the head covered too, since that's the area that loses the most heat.

Hi Gals,

I have not started packing yet. However, I have in mind to bring the following stuffs;

1. A "down feather" outer jacket
2. A cotton jacket or sweater
3. 1 set of cotton thermal wear
4. 1 set of wool (cotton base) thermal wear
5. 2 pair of jeans
6. 1 pair of leather glove
7. 1 pair of cotton glove
8. 1 pair of cashmere thin sock
9. 3 pairs of normal cotton socks
10. 1 acrylic hat
11. 1 acrylic scarf
12. 1 pack of hand warmer
13. 1 pack of feet warmer

I have never experienced winter.

Any advise?

Depends on ur tolerance for cold, but ur list is too much duplicates for me. I'm considered "average" cold tolerance.

typically, i hate thermals coz will feel v. uncomfy indoors and unless I'm intending to spend more time outdoors like winter trek, else i'll swear off thermals.

Coldest i've been spending time is in hokkaido, up to -30C plenty of snow. Its always an inner shirt for me + long sleeve + good jacket (those 3-in-1 jackets). then + jeans with thick socks & covered shoes. most impt is actually a good woolen hat & good gloves as most of our heat loss up to 50% of it actually is through our head. remember hat must cover ears. else u'll experience painful ears in sub zero temperatures

Hi! Just make sure you have good and fitted t shirts under all your layers. I have experienced winters in US and Europe and i found out that the trick is to wear a tight t shirt under your sweater (wool). The round tshirts from giordano work for me.:)

A travel tip I would like to share is buying some winter wear from the travel destination itself...that way you save space in your luggage, you fit in with the local fashion scene and have a wonderful excuse to do some shopping straight away! Haha but really wear around 2 to 3 layers of air-trapping clothing. Gloves and mitts are highly recommended too!
