hi ppl

i have shortlisted the 2 hotels for my banquet in 2009 but duno which to choose? anyone can provide some feedback? thanks!

hi erushi,

i guess you have to consider a number of things like the food menu, ballroom, service of the hotel staff attending to you, location of the hotel and also, the availability of your preferred date.

for me, i go for gpph, even though it's more expensive. cos i preferred the food menu there and it's ballroom doesn't have pillars (think empress ballroom of carlton has 2 right?). as for location, both carlton and gpph are located near the mrt station, so accesibility to the hotels shouldn't be a problem. i din have a chance to meet up with carlton staff, so not too sure of their service.

i have met with the carlton staff, she is very friendly. I have also been liasing with henry (via email) from GPPH.

both hotels have my preferred date..
for pricing wise, GPPH is cheaper..
carlton has 4 pillars..

My SO prefer carlton, as for me havent come to a decision yet, maybe after the wedding show we will have a clearer picture or else i will have to keep my finger crossed as i have tentatively block my date with carlton & is gg to due soon before the wedding show of GPHH...

is it? carlton is cheaper? hmmm...i thought i remembered carlton 2009 weekend package is around $888 while gpph is $948..perhaps i'm looking at a sat and also, a more expensive menu..that's why for me, carlton is about $60 cheaper for my case..

anyway, as long as both of you can come to a consensus on your choice of banquet, that will be good..me and my HTB have also seen so many venues before we signed up with gpph!

i see i see..guess that's the reason why! carlton's fri, sat and sun all have a single price at $888. whereas for gpph, fri, sat and sun all have different pricing...even for sat itself, there are already 2 pricing..

i also considered both of these hotel before.. GPPH is good cos of the delicated reception and pillarless ballroom.. Although there are 4 huge pillars in Carlton, i still prefer this ballroom.. Carlton ballroom looks more cosy n classy.. Additionally, you can have a longer walk-in if you want.

hi kaijing, which hotel did u book in the end? i took their biggest ballroom.. not what u called that.. Empress ballroom?

hi i have already booked carlton hotel for october 2010. i am taking the esplanade room. i love the classic and simple look of this place. plus for smaller banquets, this is the best place i've visited. not to mention the food =)

Dear all, hope you don mind i join in this chat
I will b holding my wedding dinner on 30 dec.
Looking at either carlton or amara.

Anyone attended wedding dinner at carlton or had your wedding there?
Appreciate if you can give me feedback on carlton food and service during the wedding dinner?

thanks

I had my wedding held at Carlton recently and it turned out bad. Service staff screwed up lots of things intentionally and unintentionally. Gave verbal feedback and then written feedback. First response took a few days. When I responded, I have not heard from them since then and that's more than a week ago. Food is good. Just that they use a lot of part time staff. At least that's what the hotel used as an excuse.

I have sign up for their wedding fair on 6 Nov for $20 per couple. Am considering them for my actual day. They have increased the price over the years.

For weekend dinner banquet, it will cost about $1050 nett compared to a few years back when it was ard $900. Maybe its becos of the new ballroom.

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone of u here knows what is the max. number of tables dat can be accomodated for the Esplanade Room? Thank u so much!
