St Regis was initially very 'atas' as well. When I went to them earlier this year, they were slow in replying and they didn't even answer the questions that I asked them!

So in the end, I went with Ritz Carlton. After plonking down the deposit with Ritz, my friend gave me 2 tickets for St Regis's wedding show. And whoa, the perks were way better than Ritz for almost the same price. Better menu as well. I was told that coz St Regis was doing so badly, they had to re-organise the wedding department and bought in new people. Apparently, they had a lot of bad feedback and plus earlier this year, the depressed economy did not look like it was going to recover anytime soon.

Maybe you guys should wait for Capella to suffer the same fate and maybe they will then start to offer better services and perks.

Wah the Capella sounds a bit "atas"! My friend's getting married next year and she lives in Japan so I'm helping her source for some nice places here to have wedding. She liked Capella cos the location seems a bit exotic, and she has guests from out of town and thought the wedding in Sentosa would be nice for them. Does anyone have any info on Capella packages and prices, can PM me?

I had my wedding in Capella and I received many good feedback from my friends. The venue is exclusive and ballroom is very nice in the night; I didn't have to "top up" for the table arrangement as the package came with generous flowers. Grace, the florist coordinator from SSS was very experience and helpful. My coordinator was Irene and she was very accommodating throughout the preparation. While the service was rather slow on my wedding, Capella did their best on service recovery. Overall, i am very happy with their service.

When I signed up early last year, the weekend package was $1480++. Food was good and the chef is willing to accommodate. I had some of the standard items customise to my liking without having to "top up". What I like about Capella is that everything can be customised, from wedding cards to floral arrangement to wedding favours. At least you are not subject to the standard items. A wedding is supposed to be special. Have fun in your preparation!

Hi zeerobabee,

I am considering Capella as the venue for my wedding dinner and would prefer a quaint, intimate affair. Do you know if Capella will accomodate a wedding dinner for 18 tables?

Thanks so much...

WanLi - Better check carefully with Capella about the min spends required before you booked it. I almost confirm my bookings with them but was surprise to hear that there should be a min spends of 35 tables even if you are taking up only 20 to 25 tables. Initially that was not mentioned to us until we prepared to paid them the deposit. Now I have to change my dates again and seek for other venue.

Capella got back to me relatively quickly! I'm not complaining

Best of all, the date I want is still available :D

Is there anyone who will be holding their dinner/lunch at the Sentosa Room instead of the ballroom? And the solemnization at The Gallery, or at The Patio? The Patio doesn't look like it's rainproof!

While I didn't get to meet their Catering/Banquet staff, I thought Capella was top notch, as expected of a six star hotel. Their concierge immediately handed me the brochure of their wedding package, and offered to take us around.

Have fun!

Hello girls, I was wondering if anyone can comment on the whole experience:
food, service, package, ambience, etc

I've contacted them via their website, but haven't heard from them (even though i did mention to contact me asap)...

Capella ballroom is beautiful.. But super ex.. We asked them at the beginning of last year for 2012 banquet and it cost about $1.7k per table after the taxes. Min 35 or 40 tables if I am not wrong..

In the end we didn't go there cos it's totally out of our budget already..

Hi all, has anyone held a wedding lunch at capella (grand ballroom)? Really love the place but i've heard comments that it might be warm and glaring on a sunny day cos of the glass-domed skylight above?

My HTB and I are thinking of having our wedding at Capella (Sentosa room), but noticed that there's hardly any reviews or info on the forums.
Is anyone planning to have their wedding at Capella too? Maybe we can share ideas and help each other out :)
Also, has anyone has their wedding in Capella or attended a wedding there? Care to share your experience or give your feedback?
Quite keen to know how well the wedding co-ordinators and staff were too, because of all the hotels we shortlisted, this is the location we liked best, but also happened to be the most unresponsive coordinator.

Hi there,

I'm new to the forum but if I can give my experience so far, it's really lacking in standards.

You should probably be either approached by Yuyi or Charlene on wedding coordination from the Capella and we just had our food tasting there last night which in one word: Appalling.

The faux pas committed by them so far:

1. An email sent unintentionally by their Director of Catering/Banquet Priscilla Chua to her staff but included us; and the contents which was not at all pleasant, to say the least.
2. Our wedding coordinator was not present at the food tasting and didn't arrange for anyone else to be there to attend for the choice of wedding theme etc. They laid out the linen choices and favors on the table with no one for advise.
3. We were attended to by very junior staff who were very bad in banquet service.
4. There were splinters found in a dish of mushrooms, fish scales from the fish course, unclean utensils given to us etc...
5. Basically, for what they are asking of us to pay for the wedding dinner, their service is appalling.

We sent an email to them to ask them to contact us about this incident but no news as yet despite us emphasizing how disappointed we were. If that's what we get at a food tasting session, god knows what will happen on the day of the wedding dinner itself.

I would advise you to really keep all your correspondences in black & white with them to have a record on what was agreed upon etc.

$1688++ per table is really not cheap so negotiate and ask wisely.

That bad? Am serviced by Charlene too, so far still ok.

Went for their bridal fair last weekend and thought it was ok. Ballroom is really v v nice, too bad taken up for my date, can only booked the sentosa room.

Have not gone for food tasting yet.. Pray that it will be ok. Price is really steep!

Dessert buffet like from the fair.. Taste ok only though

We managed to speak with someone from Management who understands our chagrin from the incident so that makes us feel much better already. :)

What I would advise:

  1. Ask clearly who would be there to attend to you during your food tasting session.
  2. Ask if on the day of your food tasting if there were other events ongoing; we apparently had 2 other company events going on the same day.
Try to get a day where you won't have any events concurrent with your food tasting.
For hubby and myself, we still believe that Capella is a top-notch establishment; that without a doubt. In a way, it was just our luck that we had these things happening. Not going to change our view on Capella as a luxury hotel~ :) Their rooms are amazing and we just love how they use the space of the grand old building on the hill...

Are you taking the lunch or dinner session?? Congratulations by the way! :)

Thx u for ur advice and congrats to u too! Taking dinner for the sentosa room as lunch was being booked for my date as well, quite last min in booking.

Yup Charlene's like so overwhelmed. The other coordinator ting siu was v v prompt in replying.

Sometimes you need to demand for stuff to get things done! Hope all will go well for ur actual day!
