Hi All,

I'm planning on having my wedding banquet at Capella Singapore @ Sentosa. Planning a late November weekend date.
Anyone else having their banquets there? Care to share the freebies etc? I should be signing this weekend.

Hi J,

Are you able to get any freebies or discounts, etc? Do share with me. I am in the midst of scouting for location. Liked the location but the price is abit too steep for lunch and dinner. hai!

Do lemme know.

Price-wise, I think still ok, as they are targetting the niche markets of Ritz, Shang and Regis. In fact some of the staff are 'taken' from those hotels.

I actually wanted it here.... but couldn't reach their min table requirements for a weekday (me only 20 tables).

Also being a weekday dinner, I have to consider my guests making the trip all the way into Sentosa. They need to work next day, so abit rush for them to get into Sentosa and later get out.

Settled for Conrad in the end. Sigh...

I ve just booked Capella. I have yet to negotiate with them. From my understanding, my spending for that day must meet the total amount for 35 tables although i just want 30 tables..Not sure what else i can ask from them..any advise??

... i had wanted to hav my weddin lunch there but due to economy downturn ... decided to go for one that fits our budget better ....

capella is really very nice ... but heard tat their coordinator is now irene, formerly fr amara sanctuary .... she takes eternity to reply ... whereas alfred, who had left capella, is far better in replying and respondin ...

I ve spoken to both Alfred and Irene before. I think Irene is better..I m actually very unhappy with Alfred attitude and service, therefore decided not to have Capella..Not until i called again and spoke to Irene then i decided to go ahead with Capella..Btw Irene got back to us very quick..

ohhh ... i was surprised ... coz i tried reachin irene many many times when i was enquiring on amara sanctuary ... but cld never reach her and enquires were never answered ....

in contrast alfred was very prompt and frenly ... mayb by then they both leavin their various hotels and thus a change in attitude ba

I'll be booking Capella by this weekend hopefully. Irene has been great so far but I think she's swamped with requests since the ST article came out.

Hi there.

We hv booked Capella last year bt r intending to drop out of it.
I was just telling Jaskin abt e poor service at Capella after Alfred left & how Irene really isn't following up as closely.

Normally, they will be really nice to u bfore u pay e deposit but thereafter its all empty promises.

Jaskin, any idea when e ST article was featured?

Ashley how did you lower it to 22? What's the minimum spending on your deal? I got it down to 30 tables minimum spending only.
ST article was published 3 Saturdays back.
Amara at $400 cheaper on Sunday per table is starting to sound a lot better right about now.

Jaskin I believe they were new then & with the recession gg on, they kinda gave in. Like I say, e entire Capella is very inconsistent. Like every couples package differs drastically.

I wonder if u notice tt nt mny pple will take up Capella due tt to its exuberant costs.
I feel u should try to ask for more. We tk e $149++ package.

whatever it is, they better ensure they provide the highest quality of service since they claim the r they best hotel in sg.
Esp if u r payg such a price.

I'm still completely upset tt Alfred left.
Alfred came fm The Ritz New York & knows e way to do a wedding in style!

hi all,

i've went into capella to view... it is still under renovating, lots of plants just planted, muddy sandy walk way... the exterior of capella doesnt look like a resort, the color and structure (muddy brown red?) reminds me of a modern tertiary campus instead

the ballroom is unique, round... the centre glass panel still wrapped in plastics, very high ceiling though, from another level would be a small garden where the top of the glass dome is, so far, it doesn't look like a resort yet, not like amara sanctuary which is more resort feel...

carpark is not very big, not sure if there is another level coz half of the carpark is not lighted up yet and there are still lots of construction materials lying around

what i perceived from their website, brochure and what i have seen so far is different... for such a high end pricing, it would be best to book only after you have seen the real place after all the final touch up... maybe after 2 - 3months at least?

Actually the place looks great even right now. I went there 2 weeks back. Its way nicer than Amara Sanctuary.

@Shufen: If you take a Sunday package they might be able to reduce the number of tables. Not much freebies.

corkage waiver on hard liquor is no issue I think. Waiver on wines... might not happen. I know of 2 instances where they denied it. Do keep us updated though.

Tricia Nah: Irene mentioned that Capella officially opens on 30th March. I was wondering if it would be better to actually have the site visit when its in operations. If not, it will be 21st March.

Hi all,
I'm probably amongst one of the earliest to sign up Capella. fell in love with the place the first time we saw it in Dec when the place is still under construction. Lots of space and exclusivity. It was a magnificient view when you drive up to the colonial house. You will get a very different experience from the rest of the hotels. Well, I did not have a very good encounter with Alfred. He was very inflexible and the package do not include what are considered standard from other hotels. I was prepared to walk away. However, my fiance likes the place very much and went to negotiate with Alfred again to throw in more things.

In Feb this year we realised Alfred left which took us by surprise. Irene took over and I think she is alot nicer and she appears to understand the local wedding scene better. I had given her feedback that their packages should include the standard items other comparable hotels like Ritz, St. Regis and Shang offer. It is tiring for BTB to haggle over "standard" items and they will appreciate a comprehensive wedding experience.

Having said all, the group is known for its quality service like Ritz and Conrad. No cutting corners. The menu is also very impressive. I was also told my Irene that you could custom make your wedding cards, and even the wedding cake.

The official opening is end Mar as told and I'm looking forward to view their first wedding. FYI, the dome shaped, high ceiling ballroom with skylight, is a highlight of the hotel. The lights, specially designed and made in San Francisco are made of glass (not plastic).

The weekday package is S$1380 and weekend $1480. I hope they have thrown in more perks by now. If your budget allows, I think it will be a great place to hold your wedding.

Have fun and all the best in your negotiations!

Wow! The prices are really very steep. It can be considered as one of the most expensive Hotel banquet in Singapore. My HTB and I am looking into holding our wedding banquet in Sentosa. And we have shorlisted Amara Sanctuary. Lately discovered that Capella is a newly opened hotel in Sentosa so very eager to get more information on this hotel. Kindly update in Forum if there is any wedding show upcoming for this hotel. Thanks.

Seems that this thread is a little quiet. Anyone else has signed up? Have you heard anything about the banquet service? I have viewed two weddings at Capella so far. I think the ballroom is really nice if you put enough flowers.

However i find that their wedding favors are rather average. Nothing to shout about.

Its quiet probably cuz its new and its very very steep as its a 6 stars hotel. I've seen the ballroom (it was totally empty, no deco) and the space is really very big. THey told me can fit up to 40tables. Wen i ask abt their wedding lunch, they told me its abt 200per/head. I won't be surprise if their wedding dinner banquet per table is steep. But gauranteed for sure the ambience, the environment even for the rooms are excellent. But for the wedding banquet deco, i've yet to c it. The service staff so far were wonderful.

Actually I thought Capella's prices are rather reasonable considering its status. I was expecting them to be expensive but Ritz's menus were even more expensive.

i would not choose capella if i were u. the place is dark at night, scenary obstructed and whole place is creepie because it is quiet and compound is huge. besides irene is RUDE. she does not bother to follow up after first appointment. she chooses her brides/grooms. she kua suay u if u are not rich. if she dont think you are rich enough she wont bother to get back to you after the first meeting.

anyways brides out there, you are better off taking st regis than capella. capella has weak branding, not as grand and expensive.

I must say I agree with gg tan. Met up with Irene too. And yes she does look and choose her bride and groom. If you look through her portfolio, she tends to brat about she did 18 weddings since opening and proceed to show you her previous couple's wedding invites. they are all either rich or famous and how much her previous couple spend on this and that.

any of us can spend the money to hold our wedding there if we choose too, need not be super rich. but she will give u the impression that capella is the best and in a class of its own, so you better be rich or dun waste her time.

at one point, she also mention that she has guests who book capella for stay for months in a row. and a month rental is $40k++++. do any of you believe someone can be mad enough to do that? maybe there are, but does she need to tell me that? well, talking about recession. .....

i had also been to st regis. i must say it is much much better. Kenny from there is excellent.
