But just to give reminder to other ladies that havent sign up, and are even considering. DONT SIGN UP! useless and VERY BAD ATTITUDE. #nudge to Carmen Z, fellow forumer who posted at 2009. Thanks for sharing the story and they are really very bad , I agree with you too.
I am new victim to this so called "trying to help you slim down" Body Perfect. I read some post by some other ladies in the thread and decided to share it as I have been burned, and to prevent future victims.
I came down to the store because they claimed they have partnered with Scoot and are giving me some complimentary massage as a recent scoot customer. Usually I don’t entertain such calls, but I don’t know why this time I really came down because I heard Scoot’s name. bad decision, I know.
When I came to the Sengkang store, the people in store is friendly, then come the time manager come and talk to me in a room. Manager of store Joyce use pressure and shaming tactics saying Im fat, got bulging tummy and REALLY NEED HELP if I want to be pretty (she asked me what would I want to achieve If I did lose the 5kg weight that I am over).
Let me get this straight that I am not obese, just very slightly overweight. I am super healthy and always exercise.
So in weakness of the moment, I believed her and sign up for smallest package, and considering the letters got said if want to cancel only have to pay for surcharge. Paid 3.7k for 10x package. Even though she keep saying buy the unlimited one lah, 6.5k only ~~~> frankly I am not prepared to spend so much on anything. Even this purchase is stretching it. She did one tummy rub on me using some sort of ampoule which she claimed is very expensive (300$ if buy separatrly) but was given FOC to me because I sign package.
Night time 10pm I came back and then rethink again… bad decision, because I actually have always exercised regularly but just late 3 months never again and have to entertain a lot of relatives coming n bring them eat good dinner after work, I gain the last 2kg. Last time I was only 3 kg overweight.
But I suddenly feel why pay 3.7k for 10 times tummy rub package? Exercise and less carbo can already lah. Btw this tummy rub make my tummy very pain and its VERY UNCOMFORTABLE as they rub and press the machine on your tummy VERY HARD. Later on I asked my parents, they said also not to do this kind of thing like tummy massage, as they have a lot of knowledge of chinese medication they scared might damage the other organs at tummy/blood vessels around the area if done incorrectly.
Then I googled the review, read some bad one, and also found this forum.
OMG, see so many complaints. Then I decided I really don’t want it anymore go back to the store next day 11am to ask for cancellation. I am mentally prepared to pay for the 15% surcharges. The staff told me have to wait for manager that is at Plaza Sing Branch. Have to wait she come at 7pm and ask me come back later.
When I come back at 7pm the manager Joyce come out her true nature. She callously tell me CANNOT REFUND. U WANT TO REFUND U MUST PROVE U GET CANCER AND SHOW DOCTOR LETTER TO ME then can refund. What kind of shit attitude is that???!
So angry and keep pointing to the letter that it is written there customer can get cancellation for first 30 days, bearing the cost of 15% surcharge, but now she said no cancellation. There is another clause about refunds which they DIDN’T GIVE A COPY to me, but stealthily ask me to sign. OTHER GALS BEWARE this tactic!
I remember that clauses is the one page together with health declaration (no diabetes, no heart problem , etc) and underneath the non-related to the earlier clause saying about no refund to bank surcharges and GST
She gave me a very smug face also, knowing that my money is in her hands
Bank also refused to help cancel the package and said it has to be the store that cancel it themselves, as it is a retail dispute.
SO I went back and tell my family. My Bro in law came again to the shop with me and argue back the points stated on the letter.
End up store manager said she will hv to wait until mo day to discuss with her BOSSES again,
but likely will charge around 2kfor surcharges + GST+ first instalment + bank charges + ampoule + tummy rub + .
When 15% surcharges out of 3.7K is only around 500$!!!! What a rip off! And still want to curse people get cancer sumore. I was really unhappy about this as they not even honouring contracts, overcharging and showing VERY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE (if that is even service at all!)
I was back and forth to this place many2 times, the store manager wont let me speak to her “management/boss” and also claimed she cannot do refund for me straightaway but must be their accountant do one.
So I reported the matter to CASE and also seek the police and lawyer help. Case doesn’t really want to intervene as they are not CASE ACCREDITED company, but can only help with coming out one letter and I bring it to “negotiate” with company.
After long and many discussion and back and forth to many places (police, lawyer, a lot of phone calls, gone back to the store) End of story, they charged me with $900 (paying for 15% surcharge + ampoule $312 + admin fee $50), a refund of $2812 which my lawyer asked me to take and then I move on with my life. He advise I can go and sue them in small claim tribunal, but It will be a long process and not very worth it as it might only give me a couple hundred $$ addition, and not full amount.
Let them eat my money for things I have not even used (see complimentary became a few hundred dollars charges)
For this refund, AGAIN she asked me sign the refund form with the thing she “helped negotiate and waived off” and NEVER GIVE A COPY!! Other gals BEWARE, if a company ask you sign something and not giving you a carbon copy of it, likely they are trying to hide something! (this is my lesson to learn too and I have told all my family member and friend)
Moral of story:
1. Let them eat my money, but let karma find you. And please don’t go around cursing people to get cancer when people nicely just asking you for cancellation and willingly letting you charge for 15% when package not even started yet. Joyce (I don’t know her surname, but other forumer have mentioned JOYCE CHU, so should be the same person. She is Malaysian. I don’t know from where, but I have known many Malaysian lady and a lot of Malaysian friend too, and none are as callous and horrendous as this woman. Bring a disgrace to the country name. Just my bad luck of meeting her). never before in my life got such people curse customer.
2. None of my family and close friends understand why they give me so much trouble for wanting to cancel my package. Because even if they only get 15%, they already earn $ by doing nothing. Family suspected company is in financial trouble.
3. Ladies, When you feel overweight and not confident, please don’t go into sliming company especially this one. SUPER BAD ATTITUDE. They will sure pressure you and make you feel bad to make you sign up and give them money. This is what happens to me. I am just overweight by abit and people fat shaming me already.
Just lose weight by exercising more and eating lesser carbo (LIMIT rice, noodle bread, biscuits).
4. This happens last month at October 2018 and my money is just back into my credit card account about two weeks ago (early Nov 2018). I am happy to report that by eating less rice and exercising, I have shed off my 1kg weight within this past 1/12 month. So mainly I eat rice/bread once or twice daily and at dinner I eat only some meat and vegetables. Works wonders.
5. If people trying to overcharge you, please do not stay quiet and do report to police, and CASE.
I feel really stupid and was even blaming myself when I went to report, but actually I was told it is good to report, even if I do not take legal action this time. because then there is a record and if they already have a lot bad reports, the law will do something about it.
