Hi ladies. My girlfriend's birthday is drawing close next month. I am planning to send her something special to as a gift (with flowers of course ). I am a pretty nerdy guy myself (yes. nice-looking but nerdy nevertheless.), so i would really appreciate if everybody could share some nice gift ideas here. You know its like her birthday, followed by Chinese New Year, followed by vellentine's day. And i am really running out of good ideas

I sent her Swarovski earings last year and she really liked those. I am afraid i have raised the bar too high now... I have considered MIKIMOTO pearl pen but people said pearl means tears so it's no good.

it is the thought that counts.... I agree that you shouldn't raise the bar too high.

No point giving yourself pressure to get expensive lavish gifts everytime.

Thanks for the advice. It's just that we are apart from each other right now because she is receiving education in aussie. So i would like to make sure i give her something special whenever possible. I also made very customised gift for her previously. But this year i just have too much work myself to pull this off. I don't believe in fancy gift but i do believe the sweet feelings need to be refreshed every now and then to keep things going, especially when we can't see each other everyday.

I agree with Milo that it's the thots that counts. I was thinking if you could make a scrapbook with pages of pictures, ticket stubbs, etc etc that the both of you spend together since you said that she is away, and having pictures of the both of you would be great. But as you said you are probably busy, this is probably not doable with your timeline.

I suppose something that shows her that you are thinking of her. Hope it helps.

If you know how to fold those small 3D heart shapes, why not fold for her? Put it in a bottle and maybe one of the hearts that you've folded, there is a message written by you for her.

Or maybe a CD with all your fun moments with her (picture slideshow with music). You can use moviemaker to make this.

In my opinion, it's the thought that counts. It doesn't have to be an expensive gift. Sometimes, doing something on your own is sweeter.

It really depends on the girl but try getting her some sort of stuffed animal, a bear maybe, then get a nice bracelet or locket and put it around the neck/arm of the animal. Throw in some chocolate, maybe some flowers maybe a promise to go out for a nice dinner sometime and then you have yourself a gift!

Just try to make the gift creative. However, probably the most useful advice would be from some of the female members of the forums.
