Dreamer the last time i went bangkok I spent a total of abt $300 ( tax included ) on both air tix n hotel for 5D4N

I booked my tix with tiger airways and booked the hotels through asiaroom. The hotel i booked was having a promo then.. book 3 nights get 1 night free.. Mine was a twin sharing room with an additional bed as there were 3 of us..

I like the hotel (asia) as the rooms are spacious, comes with a bath tub and service is good. Its located near MBK too, with a sky train on the 2nd level of the hotel..Most imptly is it does not give me a creepy feeling..

U can try n search under asiarooms to see if there is any hotel that is to ur liking in terms of location and pricing..

For both my trips to Bkk, i booked my hotels through the website.

Here's the link: http://www.asiarooms.com/

missymissy, u can go to khao san, pertunam ( not too sure of the spelling) can shop till u drop dead, MBK, chinatown.. Most of the prices in MBK are fixed ( a lot of 199 baht ), but the rest u can always try to bargain..

ahxue: Yes most of the clothing and food are priced at 199baht. But you can bargain

I tried bargainning and succeeded to get it down to 180baht.

dreamer: A Budget flight to BKK cost ard $120 to $160. A Budget hotel room would cost $100 to an average hotel range costing $320 for 3nights.

hi yanling,

thanx for ur reply,

i have bk my package from an agency already (always book from them coz they are always offering the cheapest package)...i find it cheaper to bk from agency after come research...i have check out Jetstar, for the duration tat i am goin, tix for 2 pax will cost me 482 include all tax (to and Fro)...so not worth to fly budget carrier...

i am flying by SQ and staying at Ibis siam at $439 per pax include all taxes for 5D4N free and easy. somemore still got airport transfer can reduce the hassle of finding the taxi for airport transfer as some taxi drivers can be very unreasonable..from ur price given, for a 5d4n on budget airline will be abt $746 per pax..

they tell u go by meter to the destination excluding toll charge then later they will change their mind once u r up in their cab...then later on the way tell u another price and tat happen to my frends and sister who just went...

so to reduce my hassle..i pay another $100 more for 2 pax...somemore no need to worry luggage weight as budget carrier are very strict on the luggage weight..if exceed pay $$

dreamer:If they change their mind, ask them to stop the car and alight if they refuse to go by meter. Another tactic is they would agree to go by meter but they would drive you to "sightseeing" along the highway thus you pay more. If they do that, alight at destination immed and refuse to pay.

For Ibis Siam, stay 4night cost $220. Each Pax would pay $110 for hotel stay. Transport $15

$???(Airfare)+$110+$15=$439

wah...can ask them stop car in the middle of the expressway?...u try before? i think for me cannot leh...i am very bad tempered...if like tat i such fight with the cab driver...

btw how much is the fare from the airport to the hotel include all toll charges? 500bt for 1 way include all toll charges?

well i think diff pple have diff views...and aspect of life...i do not like the hassle...nut if the difference is great then i will have 2nd thoughts...

hi rainette,

arnoma is near chitlom skytrain and opposite shopping centres.. hotel is not new but decent..

baiyoke sky's location is in pratunam.. not near sky train but in the pratunam wholesale area..

if you are looking for bargains, then it will be baiyoke.. if proximity and nice shopping centres appeal to you more, then go with arnoma..

Thanx for the advice. But is the area around Baiyoke Sky safe at night? How about food? I supposed it is easy to find eating places around Arnoma Hotel. But what about Baiyoke Sky?

Hi,

I got this email yesterday, please be more alert if you are going to BKK.

Please note if you are traveling to Bangkok , (DO NOT STAY IN ARNOMA HOTEL)!!!!

Dear friends and clients,

I would like to discourage all from choosing Arnoma Hotel in Bangkok as your choice of accommodation when you visit Bangkok.I had an extremely bad experience a few days ago.

The housekeeping entered my room after me and my family went out for lunch and shopping around 1.30pm (9th June). We only returned around 1030pm. My husband discovered that some cash was missing. We informed the Duty Manager and requested to see the CCTV footage. The DM said he could only ! oblige if we can produce a police report. So, we went to the police station to lodge a report. When we returned from the police station, we demanded to see the CCTV and the log of the key card to our room. The log showed that the housekeeping entered my ro! om at 1.41pm even though the 'DO NOT DISTURB' sign was hung on the door knob. It also showed that the floor manager, the DM and the housekeeping had tried to enter our room 13 times on 10th June, while we were out in the afternoon!!!( Hey, we are paying for security and privacy and these people from the hotel actually entered your room without your presence and permission??? )Next we demanded to see the CCTV but the DM and the security officer on duty said that the GM took the remote control for the CCTV with him??? He could only show us the footage the next morning when the GM reports for work. We relented and waited till the next day.

The next morning......We saw the footage on the CCTV. It was clearly stated that we left the room at 1.30pm. After that, the timing on the footage actually skipped to 1.44pm!!!Nothing was recorded between the time after we left the room(1..30pm) to the time that showed the housekeeper entering my room(1.41pm). The footage bewteen this time has been deleted!! We pressed for an explanation and loads of lies were given by the DM, security officer and chief security officer. 1) DM told us the the CCTV was on motion sensor, so could not capture anything as there was no one along the corridor during that period of time (1.30pm to 1.41pm). 2) Chief security officer said the CCTV was faulty during 1..30pm to 1.41pm.3) Security officer said he saw the footage and was certain no one entered our room. So, who shall I believe?

ANYWAY, they insisted that no one entered our room but could not explain the missing footage and the log report. What crap is this?.....&nbs! p;We wanted to see the GM ! and was told that he was not around, in an urgent meeting , in the toilet....etc etc... No apologies, no solutions and no compensation was offered by the hotel as well. We had to go to the police station 4 times before we could leave the hotel safely (the chief security officer threatened us earlier on) as we refused to pay the room charges unless a satisfactory explanation was given.

I believe the hotel staff, from the housekeeping to the DM were in cahoots. If not, why did they tamper with the security tape just to protect the housekeeper who stole from my room?? I just want my stolen money back and an apology and the hotel staff have to go such great length to cover up for the housekeeper. When things like this happen, the story-telling competition starts. Each has their own incredible story and boy, they can really lie, even in front of the police!! The GM is even worse. He must be a disciple of David C! opperfield or Pink Panther. No sight of him from 9th june to 11th June.

I have seen the ugliest side of these people from Arnoma Hotel, Bangkok. Can you imagine how many times these people enter your room and rummaged through your luggage while you were out? And how much these people have stolen from us? Why must we give this hotel business when they cannot even protect our property and our interests?

Thanks for reading and this is a true story.

Which hotel to take First House/Baiyoke Suite/Baiyoke Boutique Hotel?

Is First House and Baiyoke Suite located side by side ?
Done some research and these hotel are on the cheaper range. Currently stuck between the choices.

Anyone pls help, travelling with my wife who is focusing on shopping only.
Main issue and important aspect is that during night time, the hotel area won't be dark and dangerous after returning from night trip.

Pls advice. thanks a million

First House is very convenient. I like it becos it is right next door to Pratunam wholesale market. Walk out to the main street, you have Platinum shopping centre. Its cheap and convenient.

First House and Baiyoke Suite are not side by side but they are within walking distance.
They are not in the same price range...

Japanese food are cheap - a must have. Look out for restaurants with queue
