Bad experience in Taiwan. Never sign up a package with Taiwan exhibitors at Suntec City

I personally have a bad experienced with taiwan photo shoots. The name of the shop was Ya Tai wedding studio. We signed a package with them at suntec city. As usual taiwaness are always so friendly and of course very good at sales talk and 'sweet talk'.

When we arrived, that is when our nightmare began. First we thought all is included when we made the payment in Singapore. Unfortunately there is a lot of hidden cost involved. Rental of cars, make up artist following you for outdoor shoots, pay extra if go futher up north etc...Finally its time to choose photos and they schedule two hours before our departure to airport.

From the 300+ photos we can only choose 40 (even they agreed to give us 80 when we signed up the package in singapore). But the sales people are always flying around for exibitions. They are nowhere to be found, so they claim.

After two hours we choose 140 photos and additional 100 photos we have to pay S$2000. This is not inclusive of the S$3000 that was being paid earlier.

In the plane we started to do our simple mathematics. We spent over S$5000 just on wedding photos. In singapore we can get a very good package plus actual wedding day things.

So we called them the day we arrived and told them we only want the 40 photos. However they said they already sent for editing and we have to pay S$600 for editing fees. Moreover we cannot get back the negative that was being edited. So how do we know you have edited?

After many ding dongs, we decided not to pay them a single cents and take it as a hoilday to taiwan.

From then on we have broadcasted this incident to friends, relatives and also over the internet as a wanring for those that intend to sign up any package from taiwan.

All the best to your wedding shoots.

Hi Alex, your case is really abit extreme.. Usually you can have all the negatives back.. Have you tried to insist on getting those negatives back? It is kind of waste if you spent 3K and u cant get anything..

Actually I also had a very bad experience with my Bali photo shooting.. a lot of hidden costs like entrance fee involved, limited choice of gowns.

So if you really want to go oversea for photo shooting, really have to think twice..

Really must think twice. Yes confirm cannot get those negatives back. Insisted, but they told us to go taiwan to make sure those photos are edited.

I went to taiwan for photoshoot last May and we too, signed a package unexpectedly. We were told we have to pay separately for makeup artiste on site as well as transportation. So i guess this is normal.
Also, we paid additional for rental of my bf's vest, which is not included in the package (coz its nicer to wear that vest but of coz, we have a choice not to rent it). Some locations that we have chosen were not along the way and if we want to go, we have to pay more.
I wasnt very pleased either when we were told most of them were going to Bali for company's retreat a day after we reach taiwan! (ie my photoshoot day!) What makes things worst is, our liaision wedding planner MIA after she sent us the first batch of pics when we were back in SG. Apparently she quit just like that. Photographer took about 500 pics for us but i just choose my package entitlement (60 pics). The bridal shop staff just showed me a very black face! haha..WATEVER!

But overall, im glad the photographer and last minute makeup artiste are very professional and we enjoyed their help. Though there were various hiccups and im quite mad, im glad everything turns out ok and i have received all my pics. 1 less headache!

For ppl who are thinking of going taiwan, i suggest go early..mine AD is actually 1 Oct 2011 but i went in May 2010, only to receive my pics in Oct 2010. I didnt want it to be so early initially as the albums will be collecting dust but i reckon its safer to get it over and done with coz the bridal shop is miles apart and u will never know when it close shop!

Hi YZ, my AD is also on 1 OCT. I am going to Taipei coming weekend. I only got 2 mths plus for buffer time. Hopefully I can receive my album before my AD.

I signed with with Bluebay. But beforehand, they have already told us the additional charges like car rental and etc. So far their service is good... Wait till I go over to Taipei side.

Wish me luck.

Hello ladies, if you are opting for Taiwan wedding studios, a reminder not to choose LISHE!

They have a limited no. of PS gowns and the makeup artist i had suck big time. Seemed like she didnt have the experience to judge what kind of hairstyle/accessories are suitable for me.

The photographer is humorous in person, but I must say his photography skills are not up to the standard. The poses are very standard. The photos were also not well captured.

Now they are in the midst of editing the photos for printing, but the 2D decor really cannot make it. I am sure my fiance and I are not being picky, but its really not up to basic standards at all.

It has been a very unpleasant and disappointing experience as LISHE is actually pretty well-established in Taiwan.

Hope you gals have more options and explore thoroughly before signing up for any Taiwan package..

I signed with Judy Taiwan, when I saw there photos, first impression quite ok. But after a while, when I checked out other good photographers profile, I find the taiwan ones very plain. Photos not artistic enough, and not well captured too, esp the night scene, and also poses very standard.
I havent seen the layout of the album, now praying hard it will be ok.

I just had my wedding shoots done in Taiwan and everything went well if not better.

Having read through the above bad experiences with the Taiwan bridal shops, all I have to say is there are always bad apples in a basket regardless where you go. Likewise for Singapore bridal shops.

To better protect your rights, always clear up all questions and doubts before signing any contracts, making payments or any form of commitments if you don't feel comfortable. I had signed up with my TW bridal shop in Suntec City last Dec 2010. We had just planned to take a walk around the exhibitions but their photos were very impressive, hence we asked for the real customers album. Always ask for the real product, don't make judgments based on models album. These models with their chisel features look good in anything. Hahah... After asking everything we wanted to, the TW vendors told us explicitly what items are not included and we'll have to pay additionally when we reached TW. These includes what some of u mentioned above as "hidden costs": Rental of van, MUA to follow through (I negotiated for FOC), ampoules, faux lashes, entrance fee (if any) and a few others I can't remember. Since our package only includes 35 photos, we also asked about the price of additional photos, in this way, they can't change the prices as and how they liked.

All in all, the photo shoot went smoothly, MUA and PG are more than amazing, our contract forwarded to TW side is consistent with SG branch. We expected those items to be paid additionally so no big issue for us there. They even acted as our tour guide, telling us what are the local must-trys.

SG or TW alike, no doubt they are responsible in letting us know the "hidden costs", we are the consumers, we have the responsibilities and rights to clarify too. So to everyone considering TW photo shoot, it is a great country that offers scenery we'll never see in SG. Remember to clarify every little things before signing or payment. =D

Let me help to clarify this post abit yeah,

Firstly i am a singaporean. so i'm not trying to help out taipei's bridal's sales just wanna make things clear.

gonna just make it a brief one to clarify things:

Hidden Cost:
Rental of cars, this is standard in taipei and you gotta pay for it.

Bringing Make Up Artist out, another standard charge however you can choose not to bring them out. but you have to change you own gown and touch up ur make up or change your own hairdo.

Additional Pictures, even in singapore. this is the one place that nails most of the money. if you look at ur standard sg package it says a standard of 24 to 36 pictures. the rest if u want it, u simply pay for it. so in taipei its the same. btw 100 additional pics for $2000 in taipei is consider cheap or normal prices. bigger bridal shops just over tt amount. its not over prices just that this is how they make money in the photoshooting business.

btw if u need to clarify anything about photoshooting in taipei, u can msg me. as i just came back from taipei as well. and i did quite a few comparison there.

I think there's always a risk taking up a package during those road shows or exhibitions. Their main goal is to secure so much couples as possible. No doubt many things like car rentals, additional location, make up artists and many many more are NOT inclusive in the package, but they are often not mentioned during the signing up becos they won't want to scare u off with all the costs. If you ask, they will not give you the exact charges. So don't rush yourself to sign up the 'special package' they offered ONLY during the exhibitions, most of the time you can get those 'special packages' any other days..
