Hi Ger Lin,

My girlfriend served cupcakes which were packed individually for takeaway as well at her church wedding lunch buffet reception.

She ordered 200 cupcakes for about 350 guests which was just nice because at the end of the day, all the cupcakes were snapped up.

Cheers!

Hi Ger Lin,

I do agree with Lai. Do not order too many cupcakes as it is only for your wedding reception (as you know not many guests will come earlier...those come earlier then get the chance to taste the cupcake).

I am having the same idea as you...thinking to have a cupcake tiers (abt 100pcs) put at wedding reception.

Have anyone tried the cupcake from Pine Garden before? =)

Hi all, I'm a BTB in Dec. My advice if you want moist, soft and delicious cupcakes is to get them at local bakeries. Not the hyped up ones or online ones as they are too dry and too sweet. Be prepared with a few designs from magazines and give them to the bakery. Don't have too high expectation of the prettiness of the cupcakes but they will still look nice and pretty. BUT definitely taste 100% better!! Like muffin. My own experience and recommendation is Kele Confectionery at Jurong West.

My friend had cupcake at their ROM.

Very pretty and nice. As her venue is at country club, therefore her cupcakes is a garden theme, got lady bug, butterfly etc.

Hi butters, tat is reali cheap. It is comparable with the price of the small local bakeries. Includes set-up?
This is what I have in mind too. But my friends or I'll probably have to do the set-up as the local bakery dun do. The bakery only does the cakes and delivery.

serene> ya i think its very good price.. and yes she did the set up also (no charges).. think if u get more than $200, she waives off delivery charges..

also if u hv a design in mind, can always tell her, she tries her best to deliver tt design.. very nice lady to deal with.. didnt gimme any worries at all during my planning..

Hi Huiming,

simplycakes also quote me $350 when I ask her about the cake which Butter did for her ROM. I tink she will give abit of discount cse I told her I wanted a cake something similar as Butter and she say she can quote me based on $350 which I am still deciding whether I wan to do or not. Cse everyone is telling me it is a waste of money to do cake.. haha

Kelly, sent u the minicupcakes packages alr.. whether it's waste of money depends on individual ba.. for mi cos not having AD so will still wan a cake for my ROM.. but it's next yr oct so still hav lots of time to try out cakes from the diff places before deciding..

Butters, if confirm taking simplycakes den try bargain wif her, haha..

Please do NOT use Dreamy Cupcake (http://www.cupcake-dreamy.net/). We had very bad experience with them. We wrote them a complaint email and they didn't even have the decency to reply.

===============================================
Hello there,

We can't explain to you how disappointed we were with the cupcakes for our wedding. We gave you three rather simple designs and were told that there was no problem. But the 420 cupcakes you delivered were nothing like what we had asked for. It was of very poor quality - in terms of their looks and their taste. Besides, the cupcakes we got were tiny (3cm in diameter and 3cm in height) when we were supposed to get "regular" cupcakes (6cm in diameter and 6cm in height).

Our parents and a lot of our guests were less than impressed with the cupcakes. Their complaints ranged from average designs to unsatisfactory taste. For $4 a cupcake, you should have given us something of decent quality. And when we asked for samples, you could have given us the ACTUAL samples of the designs we requested for.

Dreamy Cupcake is a cheat. Please DO NOT order from them.

We had really bad experience with them, wrote them a couple emails and they didn't even have the decency to respond.

Anyone has Choy from cakeinacup.blogspot.com contact number? She hardly checks her e-mail and I have transfered 50% deposit. I'm very concern as my wedding is in 2 days.

For cakes, not just cupcakes:
The Patissier
Canele
CenterPs
Cheryl Shuen Wedding Concepts (featured in bridal mags several times for her cakes i think)

U may wanna consider a cutting cake with some cupcakes if you'd like a pretty picture moment. Actually cupcakes aren't a fave type of confectionery among many S'poreans. Although they look dainty & pretty with all their colours, they don't taste as well as cakes, due to the extremely sweet fondant on them. My gal pal had cupcakes for her reception and they weren't well received.

I listed those above as they are reputable pastry shops (not just online blogs) and have personally tasted pastries from the first 3. I was tempted to order from online shops too, from looking at their pretty creations. However, since food is ultimately about taste, then ordering some to try out first would be wise.

I wouldn't call those from Patissier & CentrePs oily, but i find them moist. I especially love the delicate little creations by CentrePs. To me, cakes shouldn't be too dry. I've tried macaroons, but not from Canele, from CentrePs, and find them too sweet for my liking. Perhaps, all macaroons are very sweet?

Hey gals, am I unrealistic to find >$400 wedding cupcakes, expensive?
sad.gif
Anyone knows of bakers who can offer something on a $300 budget?

moonsafarian

Shouldn't the quote be based on a number of cupcakes? If it's $400 to feed 100pax it isn't ex. If it's $400 to feed 20pax then yes it's rather pricey. But then again, food to me, is more about taste more than anything. Pretty & expensive cupcakes may not mean tasty ones & vice versa.

They are beautiful...

However, I dont think guest will eat/finish the cupcake, a bit wasteful... But even normal wedding cake also can cost a bom ><..

I like simplycakes' design.

Hi all, i read this post and over 2-3 months had tried to contact various parties on the cupcakes incl. quotes, tasting etc. I have to say, simplycakes so far is really the best in terms of service. She is so heartwarming and sincere, really hard to find someone like that!

Actually after a while I realised from all the blogs and photos and websites, what they can do is more or less the same. If you show them a picture they can do it to your liking. It then boils down to taste, cost and service. Good luck!
