Hi Gals

I am not sure if any of you have the same feeling as I get when it comes to cupcakes? That they are pretty to look at but not nice to eat? Reason why I asked was because, I ordered some cupcakes for VD for my guy last month from one of the popular and famous cupcake baker..when I receive the cake, it was really pretty!! So WOWED over by it. Then when we eat it, so very dissappointed. It was very sweet, dry and crumply. The topping on it that made it look so nice was overly sweet (I think thats what they call buttercream?) and not delicious at all. This is totally not my idea of how cupcake is like. I was imagining it to be more like a muffin in terms of taste. I was wondering, does all cupcakes taste awful but look good or are there truly tasty cupcakes around just that I ordered from one that the quality sucks?

Hi Mrs foo & Tiaramisu,

I do had the same experiences as well, most cupcakes I've eaten aren't taste nice. But they do look good.

Am trying to find one that taste & looks good. Too bad, most of vendors have a min order required & can't possibly try them one by one.

Hoping more brides will share contacts of quality cupcakes they have tried.

Tiaramisu, thanks for sharing the list, it's useful.

Hi gals,

I am also considering getting cupcakes for my wedding. However, my mum advised me not to. She does quite a lot of baking and say that the baking powder used for cupcakes is much more than for usual cakes. This causes the cake to taste a little bitter and so the frosting is very sweet and thick to cover the bitter taste.

What do you think?

I was thinking if it will be possible to have muffins with frostings instead? know where I can customise this?

hi!

what do we do with the cup cakes at wedding dinner? give them to the guests? if so, if i have 300 guests, i'll have to cater for 300 cup cakes. and when do we distribute?

Hi yaya,

I intend to have the cupcakes during the reception where guests can help themselves whilst miggling ard in the recep area.

My coordinator recommended not to get too many, as she had encountered a situation where there were too many and they served them for dessert as well.

For me, I will have about 400 guest. Will likely be getting 100-120 of them. Not all guests will eat them and not all will be early anyway.

Alternatively, you can give them as wedding favours. Then, can put on the tables. There are a number of websites (courtesy of Tiaramisu) that have done 1 or 2 cupcakes boxed up nicely to be given as wedding favours. Looks really pretty!

I just bought from cupcakemomma, and I must say, they are really good

So pretty that some of my friends can't bear to eat them. The cupcakes are rather small relatively, but it therefore makes them more appetizing and one can eat more too.

hi

you can try Lydia's.. she can be contacted at [email protected]. We use her for our corporate events and her cupcake are nice to look at and tasty. She uses real chocolate in her cupcakes so they are nice and not dry at all. The buttercream icing is ok, not too sweet. She even does special flavours but of course that will cost more . lol..

Hi ppl, my 2cts worth,

I tried cupcake momma's too. I tot it was horrible. Too sweet and slightly dry. Too overrated. Service also not too gd. Sounded quite bo chap when I called to get quotation and ask them about the diff flavors and sizes all that.

Also tried carnival & co. Their petite cupcakes are dry but the regular size ones are gd. =) comes in a variety of flavors but i dunno if there are extra charges. They have sampler boxes at $28 upwards which they sell only during bake sale. I tot it was pretty pricey. Their sales quotations over email is pretty confusing too cuz they have tons of combinations and sizes and stuff. But their follow up service is fantastic. =) And have to admit, their cupcakes have the most romantic, most girly, most professional and most too-pretty-to-eat look. =)

Also spoke to divinity cupcakes. Think they're auntie auntie kind. But v easy to talk to. Got the samples and it probably has the best texture and softness. Aunties were friendly and will explain everything to u.

I think overall, it depends on how u like ur cupcakes. If u prefer them slightly dryer and no one objects then go ahead! U need to get the samples before u can make a decision.
Check for min order for sampler and if it's to expensive or like 10 boxes for min qty, then forget it! There're so many other bakers out there who I think make wonderful cupcakes and gladly do samplers for lower price and qty. =) But if u really "just have to try" it like carnival's $28 sampler box then pay lo. U'll feel better knowing u've tried it before. =)

NEVER order from Izah's kitchen, the woman's a fake snake and her cupcakes taste terrible. Don't believe anything if u saw her on TV cos her cupcakes taste awful and she's putting on a nice front, deceiving customers. After you taste her cupcakes and tell her nicely u can't order from her this time round and wish her all the best, she replies sarcastically to "thank you" for making her go through so much trouble to make the samples for you. She said she should have charged me for the 2 measly cupcakes as nothing is free, but I think she shd pay me instead for wasting my time and effort going to godforsaken woodlands to get them. What a horrible rude businesswoman with no sense of customer retention nor business acumen. Some ppl can't take rejection and shd channel their negativity into making better cupcakes instead.

This is my own personal experience, am putting it here in the hope that you guys can learn from it.

I think Choy's a nice girl who's prompt in her emails. It's just too bad for me as her cupcakes cost beyond my budget.

I got mine from Yummyumkins in the end. Nice girl who gave me a good price and was willing to discuss variations and design options. She has a lot of flavours too.

Hi,

I'm planning to serve cupcakes during my wedding reception, do you think pple will eat it then?? Afraid that I ordered too many and end up as display instead of munchies for the guest
