Anyone ever done E-filling?

help

New Member
Hi,
I've done my e-filling sometime ago. Do we need to be there at least half an hour before the commencement of the solemnisation to show them the relevant documents? Can we bring it to them earlier like weeks to months ahead?

hello help,
yes u need to be there half an hr earlier... u only need to bring your partner's and your IC and the letter u printed after you e-file. Also very impt... your witnesses' IC too.

when u were there, go to level 1 to register... then u process to level 2 to wait for your solemnisation.

hope this helps.

mspiggy,
thanks for replying. Oh i need to go level 1 first huh? But is there a way that i can bring the ICs to them earlier?

Thinking my time is quite pack since mine falls on a saturday. I need to get makeup artist to do makeup and hairdo once the shop is open. This will take about an hour or more.

I'm thinking of getting a outdoor shoot from my photographer, and don't wish to let my friends and relative wait for us for too long.

Shook,
Does that mean your ROM is over? If since both of you only bring IC that time, what about the witness's IC?

hello help,

as for my ROM, i only brought the efile receipt (acknowledgment letter), both my hubby's and my IC and also my witnesses' IC. i didnt bring my birth cert.

they actually took only a while to verify the IC. it's the waiting time to go for the solemnisation that is long.

Hihi Help
Yep, u only need to provide witnesses' IC on the day of ROM. This is 2 give the couple a flexibility to change witness if they wish to.

hi wc

altho u can choose the timing, remember that there could be delays, esp if it's a 'popular' day ....the place will be packed and you cld end up waiting past the 'auspicious' time.

hi...I am going to do e-file next week..to meet the 3 months timeframe.

I have decided to have the ROM outside the buidling thus not sure if I still have to go down to the ROM office to do verification before the actual ceremony day?

Or the grassroot leader/JP performing our ceremony can verify the info on the actual day?

Hi all,

have just made an e-filing but am a bit confused with the procedures... can someone advise me as to whether we need to go down personally before the actual ROM date. I would prefer to verify the documents before the actual date coz may be a bit rush. Just wondering if I must bring along the witnesses' IC as well when I go down? And if parents are not the witness, do we still need to get their ICs?

Hi Victoria,
Yes u need to bring down ic of both of u & ur Fh & 2 witnesses as well as the documents needed for verify on 22nd to 25th day count from the date u e-filed. tis 22nd to 25th day must be on weekday, cannot go down on sat. BTW urs is outdoor or at ROM for solemnisation?

How to count the 22nd to 25th day? Do I need to exclude the Sundays and PH in the count? I'm really confused. If our filing date was 26 June, so which day should we go down?

Hi Shan & Rong
22nd to 25th excl. wkends n PH...you can choose to have your documents verify on the day of ROM..that is what i just did..i arrived at ROM around 45mins before my schedule and registered..You can do it 1 day b4 your ROM i think..

hi Shan & Rong,
From the day u e-filed start counting, including weekend & public holiday. For example if ur 22nd to 25th day is fall on thursday to sunday, den u only can go down for verify documents on thursday & friday only, sat is not applicable. Tis is wat i did, but mine is outdoor solemnisation. I will received an auto email from ROM inform me when to go down. Tats y i asking u urs is at ROM reception or outdoor. If is at ROM reception, i'm not quite sure.

Hi Ladies,

so do we include public holidays and weekends?? And are they strict about the no. of guest you bring? Mine would be indoor coz it's kinda hassle to have it outside ... and I don't want it to be at the garden coz it's too warm .... once again, thank you very much for all the advice....

Hi gals
When I do e-filing last yr, I did not need to go down to do verifying of my documents before my solemnisation.... On my actual solemnisation (indoor), I just bring down all the necessary documents listed in the website. What I know the purpose of e-filing is to cater for couple to save a trip down and we can do it at our convenience.

I had attended my friend's ROM during SAR period, there was a notice board to encourage couples to do e-filing i/o coming down to register.

I suggest to clear your doubts, give them a ring and they are most happy to help you with your query.

Hi Victoria
I just attended my BIL's ROM abt 2 mths ago, you can only bring 18 guests excluding the couple.

Hi Kaixin,

You can actually go the ROM website :
http://app.rom.gov.sg/internet/reg_info/rom_how_to_file.asp

to find all the information you need for your solemnisation. You can only file your ROM (and you can do this online through their website) 3 months before and at least 21 days before your solemnisation date.

Do go to the website. I believe you should be able to get the information you require from there. Hope this helps..

Hi All,
Can I ask after filing for ROM, we will be allocated a time slot to pick it up. What if we are not available on that date? eg, overseas?
What will happen?
Anyone experience that before?

Hazy,
You still need help? Basically for e-filing for ROM outside the premise, you have first to source for your own venue. Then followed by confirming the time of your solemnisation. Then you have to source for a licensed Solemnizer (be it JP/grassroot leader/religious leader etc). After that, you can arrange to meet up with your solemnizer or fax him the consent form to sign and obtain his license number. Then you can do the e-filing on ROM website as per normal.

E-filing can be done as early as 3 mths before your ROM date but not later than 3 weeks before.

Hope this will give you a clearer picture.

Good luck. Need help can always PM me.

hi,

so does it mean i gotta secure the venue and JP before i do e-filing?
but what if i secure venue n JP already but cannot get the date i want during e-filing?
thanx!

Hi tingting,
Yes, you need to secure your venue and JP before e-filing. You will need the license number of the JP...
Dun worry, there's no limit to the number of vacancies for solemnization held outside. As long as you managed to confirm your JP and venue, e-filing can be done anytime within 3 mths of your ROM. Only if you are having it at ROM office then u need to worry cannot get the date.

gelaine...thanx for ur info!
i was so worried dat i could get a date during e-filing cos i intend to ROM on 06-06-06 or 20-06-06...need go see shifu to calculate see which one more auspicious...im intending to ROM outside

issit too late to start preparing? see so many ppl prepare early here! making me nervous...dunno where to start?!

Hi tingting,

No problem!
happy.gif
Well... it's not too late to start preparing since you're planning for June. But sugest you start now, especially with the date being a popular kind of date, alot of venue may be booked. And with confirmation of venue sourcing, then of course confirm your JP. Many good JPs are booked up to 2007, so better act fast. I suggest JP Chan Kai Yau. He's my JP and a very friendly old man.
happy.gif

Basically, priority should be:
1) Confirm Date & Time
2) Confirm Venue
3) Confirm JP
4) E-file (within 3 mths fr ROM date but not later than 21 days b4, ie at least have 21 working days b4 ROM date)
5) Source for your wedding bands(at least 2 mths b4)
6) ROM Gown, Shoes, hand bouquet
7) Photographer/Videographer (optional)
8) ROM Favours, invitation cards (Optional)

Heh... this is how i would or rather have planned my own ROM. Good luck to you!

Hi!

May I know how long does it take after E-filing for us to go to ROM to verify all documents?? Please advise cos my fiance is a foreigner and I need to know how long before he needs to be in S'pore. I'm thinking of e-filing one month before outdoor wedding.

Hi Chong,
My partner is also a foreigner. Upon filing (this happens last oct) and we went to ROM to verify all documents in DEC. The day given to us was a date when my partner is not in Singapore so I called in and request for another day. So, if you do file in, don't worry, u can call and make changes. Hope this helps.
