Hi-ee!
We only hopped to Moorea and Bora Bora. 3 nites each. Had another 2 nites in Tahiti, more to transit than to tour. Beach at Tahiti was disappointing, tho it offered a good view of Moorea. Would like to visit Rangiroa and Maupiti.
Nope, we didn't do the OW bungalow this time. We were out of the beach bungalow most of the time, so unless you are planning to stay in or at the deck, it's definitely worth a try!! Anyway, we decided we'll save up for our next trip and make that a OW one!!
Some folks who like the beach regretted having the OW ones, cos they had to walk to the beach instead. So it really depends on what you want..
Flight was... SIN-SYD : 6hrs. SYD-AKL : 3-4hrs. AKL - PPT : 4-5hrs???? Gee... sorrie, can't quite recall.. it was so long.. and the times kept changing, what with crossing the dateline, I really lost track!
PPT-MOR :10mins. PPT-BORA : 45mins. If you're flying from PPT to Bora Bora, you gotta sit on the left side of the plane so that you can get the aerial view of all the islands!!! Really beautiful..
Athena, I'm really not sure about Fiji, cos I've not seen it for myself. If it's on the way, why not just go Fiji and see what it's like? I don't know which parts of Fiji they went to..
I found alot of useful info at the following site:
http://www.tahiti-explorer.com/
Read the travel forum, lots of feedback on hotels and the restaurants to help you decide. I guess you would have been warned that the food there is EXPENSIVE!!
So be prepared to either pay ALOT, or bring noodles for breakfasts/lunches..
We mostly had noodles/cookies for breakfasts on the beach, and baguette/tuna etc for lunch. The ONLY thing that's cheaper than Singapore is the baguette! A plate of pasta easily costs US$22, a glass of pineapple juice about US$7.5(going by 100CFP=US$1).
Oh, I've to qualify that $7K was not inclusive of the SIN-SYD leg. SIA knew we were on our honeymoon, and we got a black forest cake on our way there, and another chocolate cake on our way back! That was a nice gesture, but hubby was bellyaching that they should have upgraded us instead!!! That would have been much more appreciated..
Anyway, the $7K is inclusive of all our expenses incurred on the islands as well. We did the shark feeding and ray feeding with BBQ on a motu.. that was really fun!!
