Suggestions needed...

It will be for about 1000 guests.
Preferably not at void decks.

And is there any place where you can just book the venue, but order our own caterer?

Hope Malay brides can share your experience with me.

Thanks in advance.

i don't know how much budget we need to rpepare actually. so lost about all these.

i found out that community centres cost about $1300, and that does not include chairs n tables and food.

catering for malay wedding maybe about $10 per head. and if we got 1000 guests, that is $10000 just on food.

country club goes by table. each table about $600+. if 1000 guests is $60000, which is an impossible amount.

now i know why chinese can hold wedding in hotels, cos they don't invite so many guests. its usually less than 100 guests.

but for malay, they can invite from 500 and above for guests. so hotel is out, unless you are super rich.

Hi homeloverme, perhaps you can have 2 celebrations? One for both side's relatives.. that can be at a cheaper venue. The one for friends and colleagues can be at a hotel.

Anyway, I think it's a mistake to say that chinese can hold weddings in hotel because they invite usually less than 100 guests. In fact, most chinese weddings are at least 250 guests. Look at the capacity of most ballrooms in hotels.. most of them at 25 tables and above.A good number of them are at least 35 tables (min) for weekends. I think for chinese, we invite only pple whom we know... up to 2nd degree relatives. Whereas for malays, they invite very distant relatives too. That's why they need a very large venue. and When huge families attend, the angpao given tends to be smaller too (per pax). That is the problem when we chinese invite large families too (6 pax and above). Can't expect them to give $600 combined AP right?!

Actually our family weddings invite all very distant relatives too! Haha that's why always at least 30 - 40 tables...But from what I hear of my cousins the ang pao money will always more than enough cover the banquet costs.

Homeloverme: I think that with 1000 guests it's very difficult to keep the cost low. $10 per head for the food is quite standard, unless you order tea menu from a halal caterer (which is usually quite filling also, even though it's not a full lunch menu), about $5 per head, that will also cost you at least $5000.

The food will always kill your budget. But I think with such a huge no. of guests you can try to get a discounted package price from the caterers.

Homeloverme, it's difficult to get a place to fit 1000 guests. I'm a malay and i am cutting the no. of people to 200 or 300 max.

If u are going to invite all 1000 ppl, u will be super broke. If u really wants to have a wedding outside of the norm (void deck), u need to cut the number of people.

Seriously, if u invite all 1000 ppl, u will lose alot of $$.. maybe cannot even breakeven..

Just my 2 cents worth..

Homeloverme,

You may try Asian Civilisation Museum.
You can hire the ballroom and engage your own caterer/ decor provider. The rental fee is quite steep compared to cc. But it will be something different.

They have the river room (indoor) and river terrace(outdoor) for max 30 tables.

You did not mention if its a one seating or in-out dinner. You can try ACM and also fort canning for venue hire only.

I'm pushing for a hotel wedding. Looking for a hotel with muslim package*headache* I love small weddings!!!

Hi! If you or know anyone who would like to hold your wedding at Lagun Sari, please let me know. I have paid a deposit which I am willing to transfer at 25% off.
We decided to have one wedding event - instead of 2.
We've engaged a superb and excellent co-ordinator there. (I do hear of some threads where empty promises could have been made

Hi all

My partner and i are having a hard time looking for a suitable venue for our wedding next year.

Anyone has any good suggestions for wedding venues which can hold up to 1000pax, and a place which enables us to just book the place, and allowing us to bring in our own caterer and wedding deco?

We are trying to opt out MPH or void decks, we prefer restaurants or event halls. Please do help! Thanks!

Any of you have any suggestions for a good wedding venue which can possibly hold up to 1000pax?

We are currently considering Gurame Indonesian Restaurant, and we would like to hear your reviews if any of u have any

Preference:
- can bring in our own wedding deco and caterer (if not at a restaurant)
- indoor with outdoor garden ambience or poolside ambience
- country club / event halls / restaurants

We're open to all suggestions! Thanks in advance

hi,

i am also looking for a venue that can fit 1000pax for a malay wedding.

Is there any places that i can just rent the hall without getting their caterer? I wish to bring in the caterer of my choice...
Thanks

Hello,

I am looking for a venue that sits up to 700pax.
It will be a Malay/Indian wedding,
I love orchid country club and they are pretty flexible. They do allow to let me bring in my own caterer, but I thought they were quoting me a little too pricey just for their ballroom.
Would you ladies have any other suggestions?

Much appreciated.

a3005a_9d7a5044a7004248910f45237d4597b0.jpg As for a venue you can check out www.theconcreteconcept.com but we just provide the venue. Its a pretty cool concept and location for a wedding cause its huge and looks like a loft. And its airconditioned. There are seperate entries for caterers and guests, so its worth the option. At a single time I think it can hold up to 500 people, so if they come and go, it should be ok.
We also work with event organisers that specialise in re creating the space for weddings, but that is a seperate cost.

FAVE by Muslim Delights is fantastic! Impeccable service and the owners are very lovely. Their staffs are very warm and efficient too.

Lovely decor, good food, great staffs, comfortable place for a wedding. Located at Orchard.. what more can you ask for? You can book a room at Concorde Hotel (the venue is at Level 1 of Concorde Hotel) and you may ask permission to place your doorgifts at the venue a day before the wedding. Check in to the hotel a day before the wedding and you can save the hassle of travelling!

FAVE by Muslim Delights saved our wedding when For You Wedding Services failed to honour their services less than 2 months before our wedding. (you may go to weddingcheat.wordpress.com to know more about it!)

I would highly recommend FAVE by Muslim Delights. I didn't regret a single bit and they've handled everything like the pro that they are. I pray that they'll be bless with all of the good things in life because they truly deserve it.

Therefore I would highly recommend Muslim Delights because they won't disappoint at all! It's truly a joy and such pleasure to have our wedding there! :)

Not a muslim, but helped my bff who's a muslim in her wedding preps and kaypo kaypo follow her while doing wedding stuff...

Actually if you are a civil servant, can consider Civil Service Clubs function rooms, or even HometeamNS. I know for sure the one at Blastier (31 Ah Hood Road) has a super fantastic package if your partner used to be from Home Team. I think nearly 40-50% off rental of the function rooms. (My friend eventually went for that) or you can try NSRCC function rooms too.

But I must also share with you, once the vendors know that you are having your wedding at a more upmarket place, they also try to make you pay more for their services. So try not to tell them your venue first... Tell them like you need wall decors, floral stand, 20 tables table centerpiece, 1 backdrop etc...

All the best!
