I also have this problem of using sunblock that causes oiliness on my oily skin. So I hardly use any and actually was on the verge of giving up trying. A friend recommended me dermalogica's solar defense booster and I love it very much. Its non greasy and has got a bit of aromatherapy smell. It's rather expensive though but definitely worth it.

U mention about shu umera but heard one of the counter person who advised u against it as she said it is quite strong to even remove mascara at one wipe right? What do u mean exactly? Do U mean it is too harsh for your eyes or delicate eye area? Or do u mean it is not very effective for removing waterproof eye make up ? Can u explain pls? Because I had pretty oily skin, so thought of try Shu uemura Light fresher cleansing oil.....

Hi everyone,
i think in general it is not advisable to use oil to clean the eye area. may risk getting milia (small oil clots in the eye) better to get a proper eye make up remover and then just use the oil on the rest of the face.
Hi Adeline, oil can remove even waterproof mascara and you really don't have to worry abt your oily skin cus' oil dissolves oil. i have combi skin but i use the Fancl cleansing oil and i have no problem. hope it helps

my latest discovery is a sunblock I bought from a golf shop at Suntec. It is called "Sun-Killer" at $11 only. I bought the blue 'Sarasara Powder Milk for sensitive skin'. Am tempted to get the skin tone ones as well.
I love it cos' it is REALLY not oily, mattifies the face and turns tranparent when you apply. The ones I bought previously always leaves an ugly white colored layer on my skin. It also has menthol in it, so the skin feel cool when you apply. There are testers in the shop too, which prompted me to try it out. Last I heard, it's also selling at Watson's in Taka but I've not checked it out yet.
oops! i tot it was a new pdt till i browsed further up and noticed mango_pudding had mentioned it. Is Avene as oil-free and mattifying? I want to buy the skin toned SunKiller. Have you tried it before? Does the color fade into uneven patches? Thanks!
i've the skin toned 1. it was part of a pack o 3 sunblocks - shimmering, skin toned, powder menthol 1. the 1st 2 cant last on my combi skin. hence i always buy bk the 3rd type - menthol.
hi sakurasan,
is tis gd? mi always like clarins's products but they r so ex. does it suit combi skin?
u mean the tinted colors don't stay on the skin? does it result in patches then? my previous sunblock's color will slide off and 'congregate' around the base of my nose, leaving my nose yellow and the base white.
the tinted color's a bit dark. i'm considered fair n more yellowish hence it made my face a bit 'peachy' looking lor. oil control's v bad hence i dun recommend tat. but i've read tat some ppl found it gd 4 them hence it really depends on ur skin conditions.
I've oily skin and have always avoided sunscreens coz they tend to be oily and heavy! But this Clarins one is very good - my frens with oily, sensitive and combination skins have all tried it and have given it a thumbs-up.
It is not cheap - that small bottle cost $60 but it can last for a long while coz you only need a very tiny bit as it spreads very easily on your face. I use a portion that is around the size of a 5-ct coin or smaller. Give it it shot!
Are you a fan of Clarins's products? I hv just started using their stuff - mostly samples that the nice counter staff give me whenever I purchase a product.
Bisabolol Cream UV. Goes on matt, with slightly cool tingling sensation. Didn't cause oiliness, didn't cause reaction on my sensitive, oily, acne prone skin. But costly.$89 for 30ml. A little bit per application goes long way.
If I rember right, Jacyln Tay on her programme said those sunblock when applied turns your face abit white is more effective than those applied and turns transparent ones...
can anyone confirmed that?
Those sunblocks that make the face white and has quite thick consistency are those that use chemical blocks to block out the harmful rays.
There are sunblocks that have both chemical and physical blocks which is more effective and does not leave as much as a whitish cast. It's good to have both chemical and physical block in ur sunblock. in a way it's better protection.
