Hi All,

Just a suggestion on DIY cards .. I did mine (actually it's an additional design as the invites provided by my hotel was insufficient)using a collage of photos taken by photographer and used them on the front cover of my invite .. inside would be your invitation wording and the back cover could include your hotel's map & address .. send your designs to a commercial printer to print in laserjet colour .. i just received my cards today & i love the output ..

you can take a look at the design of my invite here.

Hi faith, not sure if you still check this. Can I find out more about designing your invite and using commercial printer to print? Cos I'm playing around a few designs on photoshop at the moment... but not sure how I should go about getting it printed nicely. Does your printer provide you with the paper to print on?

hi misty,
the quotations i got from the commercial paper included artcard ... but not envelopes ..

u should first decide on the size of your card... consider the availabiliy of the envelopes u want to buy ... B5 size is very common .. but few shops sell square envelopes ...

after deciding on the size of your card ... do it on photoshop .. remember to use high resolution preferably min 300px/inch.. u'll have 2 files - one front one back ...

most commercial printers accept PSD files ... if not send them a high resolution JPEG &/or PDF.

hope the information helps!! my wedding was just over.. happy planning!

Hi misty,
dun know whether will these be of help to you but cuz i'm designing the wedding cards for my friend and i will bring it one of those printer shop at park lane. I often frequent the shop during the student days for my artwork.

Anyway from what i know is if the paper you dun mind plain white hard card paper, they will most prob provide but if you want like coloured paper i think have to get it yourself. For my friend's card cuz i be using translucent paper and colour paper, thus we are getting the papers and assembling the card ourselves.

Thanks faint and ami36. You guys been very helpful!

Ami, where will you be getting the cards? Also, does the printers help to cut the card into the final size and fold it? Cos i've noticed most greeting cards are ready 'scored' to prevent creases when folding. How much shld I expect the papers to be? I'm thinking of papers in 'antique gold' colour... worried that it's kind of hard to source.

Faith, many congratulations...

Hi Misty,

If money is no problem, whatever paper you want also can. My mum did the cards for me and as she is a designer, we could chose the card material from lots of paper samples that she has. And commercial printers should be able to score and fold the cards for you.

But for cards and envelopes, it is always the more you order then the cheaper per card. Some people even order envelopes made out of similar paper as the card and it can be made according to whatever size you want. So decide on your budget per card and envelope.

Hi girls,

I have got a friend who does wedding invite designing. I have got her to do her help me design the church wedding invitation and wedding dinner invitation card. It is very very well-done! One of my friend had also approach her for the design and printing and everybody is saying that its very well-done and like it alot. I had forgo my complimentary invitation as I really wanted something nothing. I am very pleased now.

She has a regular printer that she goes to, so hence she is able to get a very very good price for printing. The price she has got for me is like super good. I paid ard $600 for 680pcs of 2 sided color offset printing.

If you are interested to see her work, you may email her at [email protected].

Hi sailormoonwt, Thanks! As I only had 60 pax the cost was naturally higher than yr average wedding party which usually has like 200-300 pax. But it was definitely worth it. I was 100% happy with it. Elaine - 90032430. All the best!

yeah, for 20 cards, it's really difficult to find any shop to print for you. gotta understand they might be earning like $20-$40 only...which is not much for the work put in hor?

Hi verie,

I still got some leftovers of plain traditional wedding cards (yellow/shimmering gold & red) to sell. Would be wasted if throw away or unused. Can sell cheaply to you if keen (if you dun mind it's traditional design). For inserts, I can recommend you my printer cos they have my format and template done. Again, it all depends on how simple you want your invites to be.

Please PM if required. Thanks.

Hi Joy,

I guess it depends on your design. Even a normal printing shop wont charge so low unless ur design is very plain with not much color contrast.

Hi Denise,

Opps sorry, I left the links as I thought it is revelant to the thread. Thanks for your kind pre-warning .. Guess I should have been careful on my writing and ask interested parties to email or PM instead like fellows forum users..

However, I can only keep my fingers crossed for now.. hoping that the moderator will remove my posting shld they deem it in violation to the forum's regulation .. and not ban me .. I still need to use the forum for my wedding prep next year......
