Anyone using Moisture Rich Moisturizer SPF15? The texture is pretty good but I find that there's this really 'spermy' smell which I cannot tahan.

Don't know if it's the product or whether it's my over-sensitive nose.

Hi pat,
I believe majority who needs to seek pores treatment are those with oily or combination skin due to excess oil secretion thus they are unlikely to be using Moisture Rich Moisturizer which sounds more suitable for those with drier skin complexion.

As i have not used the moisturiser myself, i can't comment on the smell.

Large pores are caused by sebum secretion and a lot of ppl rush to use oil-control products without finding out whether they really do have oily skin.

Sometimes skin secretes excess sebum because it is deprived of moisture. In this case, we need to give it sufficient moisture and stop sending signals to the brain to produce more oil.

For my case at least, my skin stopped producing that much oil and pores are not that obvious after I made conscious efforts to moisturize, moisturize and moisturize.

Properly moisturized skin can fully absorb whatever nutrients it is being fed and react more effectively to treatments received.

Hi pat,

I'm not saying that those with oily or combination skin should not use moisturiser.
People with oily or combination skin should use moisturiser. I myself cleanse, tone and moisturise too but using the products which is more suitable for my skin type.

Main point is we shold use the correct type of moisturiser for the right type of skin and not just any moisturiser. Don't you agree?

The Moisture Rich Moisturiser that you were referring to will probably be more suitable for people with drier skin.

Oh LHT

That message was not targetted at you. It was meant to be additional information for the rest who suffers from oily skin and visible pores.

You'd be surprised. I used to have combination skin, leaning more towards being oily. Eversince I started using la mer, my skin really balanced out.

I realized that my skin was oily all these time coz I was not moisturizing enough. I changed even my day moisturizers to heavier duty ones and I am surprised they kept my face more matte than if I were to use oil-control moisturizers.

I hope those suffering from oily skin try to find out if they are under-moisturizing their skin.

good moisturiser protect the moist from skin and prevent them from escaping to the air.
Despite of whether oil control or nt, moist is v impt.
If ones finds skin getting less oily over time (and the oil is not giving u problem), this means the moisturiser u using should change.
In anyway, skin w certain level of shine is good. Totally matte could lead to dehydration in the very near future.

Hi pat,

No worries lah.

The most important thing is to look for someone who is experienced so that he/she is able to assess your skin condition and recommend the right type of products to use.
If you are comfortable with the products that you are using and your skin condition improves, it's good to share your experience with the others.

Hi,

I got it done at Jill Lowe International. It is an image consultancy company pioneered by Jill Lowe. Her company is not heavily advertised like every other company. her products are manufactured and packed in USA. She goes by word of mouth. I have recommended a few of my friends there before their wedding and the whole facial process turn out really well.

My facial is using the Ultrasound which is the emitting of the radio waves that goes into my skin to promote healing. It is painless compared to the IPL which is using the light which can be painful. I have a very bad experience with IPL because it is very hot on my skin even though they have used the lowest light heat. After the IPL treatment, my skin will smell like burnt meat. With this Ultrasound treatment plus the Anti-Acne treatment, my skin went down after the first treatment

The Anti-Acne treatment is merely using 2 type of mask to apply on the skin. The first type has a fruity smell and the second one is the Aloe Vera Cooling gel that cools my face. I remember last time when I go to other beauty salons-they use the cold mask treatment right? That cold mask treatment cause my face to pop more and more each day. But this Anti-Acne treatment is amazing. Way way before this salon has the IPL or the Ultrasound machine, I went through 6 Anti-Ance treatment and after every treatment , I can see instant result.

Grace, I managed to shrink my pore size recently by changing my skincare regime, including off the shelf pdts as well as home remedies.

Biotherm... I've tried a deep cleansing mask b4 cos my friend recommended it to me. It didn't work for me. Made my skin very dry and flaky. Mine is oily acne prone skin. I threw it away after half a tube. Not sure about its other range.

Hi carebear,

I think problem is your homecare products and cleanser.

I had the same problem as you. Recently i tried facial recommended by forumer and tried her products. My skin is smoother and not so many white/blackheads.

Know of a very good pore treatment called Carbon laser peel. They have it at some aesthetic clinics. I have tried it and it is good..

No down time. No. of times dependent on what results you want to achieve but 1 session can already see significant results

I've used Laneige before.. Water bank essence & pore tightening essence. Maybe they didn't suit my skin type but I found that they clogged my pores even more. Sometimes, I even had little bubbles (??) - i.e. skin looked rough.

But I passed them to my mum who's using them now.. she doesn't have complaints tho.
