It is very dangerous to take such pill. Strange that it helps for insomnia. Hope Yvonne could tell me more on her conditions. I really don't know how to solve this problem.

For most people there is probably not one cure, but many things that can be done to improve sleep quantity and quality. Many of these are pretty obvious (exercise, keep regular sleep times...). However there are some new high-tech and lesser knows methods that can be very powerful, even for people who don't benefit much from conventional advice. For example, there are DVD's and CD's that can put you into a deep meditative state which is very conducive for falling asleep. You can try light therapy to restore and maintain your circadian rhythm, use blue light blocking glasses to prevent light from computer screens and TV's in the evening, and much more. If you can think about chipping away at the problem with a lot of tools at your disposal, you should be able to steadily improve your sleep. This in turn will take away a lot of anxiety and you will continue to make progress. More tips at http://www.sleep-alternative.com

Drink chamomille tea before going to bed. Sometimes when I can't sleep and i just get sick of tossing and turning, i just do sit ups, it works for me because after i do situps then i just want to lay down and relax.
Also you might just have too much on your mind, i do this thing every time i can't sleep it's kind of wierd, but it works for me, you think about a strawberry, you draw it in your head, you picture every single seed and you make a background, and think about the noise and everything, and then just concentrate on that.

Try thinking about times when you were so tired you wanted to fall asleep but couldn't. Sometimes I imagine driving down an endless road.

Listen to your breathing, in / out.

Lie in bed and think about getting up - but don't. Think about what you might do if you got up.

These all work for me at times.

Try adjusting your personal habits:

1. Have a fix sleeping and awaking time.
2. Try not to take naps during the day.
3. Avoid alcohol and caffeine 4-6 hours before bedtime.
4. Avoid heavy, spicy, or sugary foods 4-6 hours before bedtime.
5. Exercise regularly, but not right before sleeping.

Try changing your sleeping environment:

1. Use comfortable bedding.
2. Ensure that your room is well ventilated and set a comfortable room temperature for sleeping.
3. Ensure that the room has minimum noise and light.
4. Reserve the bed for sleeping.

Hope these little tips help!

See a Doctor

Insomnia can be a symptom of physical disorders, although for most of us it's the result of tension, stress and anxiety—and of course the more anxious we get about our insomnia, the worse it gets. If your doctor pronounces you a "healthy" insomniac, he might suggest some of the techniques provided here. Or she might prescribe drugs to help you get to sleep.

We suggest you try all these methods first, and use drugs only as a last resort. The decision, of course, is yours.

Take a Warm Bath

It's a great way to relax your body. Don't overdo it, however. You merely want to relax your body, not exhaust it. Too long in hot water and your body is drained of vitality.

Use bath salts, or throw in Epsom salts and baking soda—one cup of each. These will relax you and also help remove toxins from your body.

Listen to Music or Other Audio

Play some soft, soothing music that will lull you to sleep. There are many CDs designed for that very purpose. Some are specially composed music, others simply have sounds of waves rhythmically breaking, or the steady pattern of a heartbeat. Some will lead you to sleep with a combination of music, voice and other soothing sounds. We found one particular system that generates endless combinations of sounds tailored to your specifications.
