Hi wawa,

Why not u try the one at Lenoard Drake at Woodlands Basement 1, looking for a beautican named: Ling Ling, she is good, she was my first therapist. She does a gd job n analyse very well with my skin n it improve a lot. Another therapist is Serene but she is not post to the outlet in Compass Point. She is willing to give sample to u to try n does not force ppls to make a decision immediately. If u wan to go u can just mention my name n they will serve u as I always used to go there. only recently no job then stop going only buy pdts.
Sorry to divert out of the topic, heehee..... just wan to share.

Hi Shirlyn, may I know how much do you normally spend for the facial at Leonard Drake? I'm thinking of going there to try. I'm now with Amore Day Spa. Quite good also but I like to try out Leonard Drake too. Thanks.

Hi chrysanne12,

I find them quite professional. I have been served by 2 therapists before and they are good. But I like this particular one cos each will hv different way of doing certain things, eg. eyebrow shaping.

She will analyse my skin n tell me the condition but not elaborate kind of comments. Then she will tell you what she intends to use and what type of facial she will be using so I will know. I find this good.

And I do see a difference in my skin after the facial.

I want to find out abt Leonard Drake cos the impression i got is they are good. But price also another concern. That's why i hope to find out more about Leonard Drake.

hi Sunnyday,

since u seem happy with Amore Spa isn't it better to play safe and stick with them, then u can everytime request for the beautician u like mah?

to me i feel safer going to the 1 who is familiar with my face so that my face won't end up in mess, i guess i think this way becos i was very disppointed with some other beauty salons which i went to when my own beautician was in overseas. By now no choice loh.

Hi Chrysanne12,

yup, i requested for her everytime i go now. but i like to try out some others lor. but then i don't go to those beauty salons whose products i have nvr heard of. I have used sothys products before also n hv tried their facial. but it's not the head office but at a beauty salon which carrys sothys products. sothys products is not bad but after i have used about 3 rounds, i intend to change another product. Don't like to use a product for so long.

Hi,

Has anyone tried Pilates? I'd always signed up for the Basic package but I'm quite keen on trying something new....
happy.gif
And all those different yoga classes, what's the real difference anyway?

Hi KatGrrl,

Basically I find no difference in e different type of yoga, be it yoga or yogasana. Power yoga is of higher intensity, more advance.

Pilate is a low intensity work-out to tone up e abdominal and back. For a start, u may wish to attend Pauline's Fundamental or beginner class at Civic centre on Sun morning. Agnes conducted beginner class at BV on Thur evening too.

Certain posture r duplicate in these 2 classes. If your major concern is to tone up your tummy, I would suggest that u go 4 ABT instead of pilate cos ABT class is FREE.

Hi all,
In pilates, there are only 32 moves. So there are definitely duplicate postures in both classes. It's just a matter of the instructor raising the level of difficulty. Pilates is very good for strengthening our backs especially for ladies to prevent future back problems.

Hi everyone,

I've not taken any exercise classes before so I'm not too sure which is good. Can someone perhaps give me some suggestions on what kinda classes I should go for to lose weight and tone up the body?

Hi Geri,
I have signed up a 3 mths package with civic centre after gathering e good comments from this forum. Personally I find NB a recommended class to start with. Good for both cardio and body toning.

Hi there!
I'm always interested in getting work outs for myself but in the end opt for body massages which I think will help me in reducing my tummy & fatigue. Just too lazy!

Geri,
I think it'd be good to hop into any branch to speak to the ladies there. They'll be able to answer most of your questions, if not all. Don't have to feel shy one.
'NB' is short for a class called New Body, it combines a bit of cardio and mostly on sculpting (toning up thighs, arms etc). And yes, I agree it's a good class for beginners, along with LO.

You may also want to check out their website at www.amorefitness.com

Happy working out everyone!

Nikki,
I know exactly what you mean! I used to be a full-time couch potato after work.

But I now workout 3-4 times a week (swim, aerobics, gym) and I haven't felt a hint of fatigue (of cos after overcoming the initial muscle achessss). Exercising actually makes one think better, work better and generates endorphines (happy hormones).

So get up and do something!

Hi all
Ever since I started to be active, there is no way that I can pull myself back from doing so anymore. Like phuture, not hint of fatigue at all, instead, I feel energized n alert.

Some motivation for u pple :

You have the potential to do many great things. Yet regardless of your potential, no matter how much you have going for you, nothing will come of it unless you take the actions necessary to make the most of your possibilities.

No matter how well prepared you are, no matter how intelligent, well- connected, or skillful you may be, the results you get depend on the actions you take. Positive thinking and positive focus will point you in the right direction. And positive, sustained effort is what will take you where you want to go.

You can see the summit, you can visualize yourself reaching it in glorious detail. Yet if you're to actually make it happen, you must get up out of your chair and start climbing the mountain. You absolutely must take that first step, and then continue until the goal is reached.

You're perfectly capable of it. YOU'VE GOT THE POTENTIAL AND YOU HAVE THE DESIRE. Now get up, get going, and make it happen

Hi Geri,
NB in Amore uses dumbell and resistance band to help us in toning. It is also know as 'body sculpt' in other centre. Are u a Amore member yet? cos I see u in another thread looking for kaki to work out at neighbour gym at YCK area. If u r not, u may also want to consider classes offer at cc & singapore sports council.

Look under the thread 'Any Cheaper place to take up Yoga?' for details of the various courses available.

Agree w phuture, NB with LO is an ideal combination for beginner.

by the way, if i have to take up the class at 40bucks per month( which is going to class once a week).. and i happen to miss a few session..can it be carried forward? or they will forfeit it?

cclyn

New Member
elaine,

if u sign up for 40 buck class, doesn't means that u only can go once a week. U can finish up the 12 session within a mth if u want(3 times a week). Even if u miss 1 session, they will not going to forfeit it, as long as within the 3 mths u complete 12 session.

try Kick Boxing on Sat 930am by the male instructor (I think his name is Ray). He's good! I think he is also teaching in TP branch on Sunday. Michelle is also a good KB instructor but she only teaches on weeknights.
plus: if you are out of country, you can extend your membership/package by showing the passport or boarding passes, they will put the new expire date on your membership card every time after the change.
minus: in the evenings, many moms bring their kids there and those noisy kids sit in the reception area. that's the reason why i stopped going there after finish my package as i do not expect going to a child care center!

hi, i've also joined the amore fitness power package. just wondering will doing kick boxing make me more muscular? b'cos my ultimate goal is to lose weight not to build up big muscles. =P

5trawberry

kickboxing doesn't involve weight lifting so you will not be able to build muscle mass but you will be toner after that, especially at your arms and back!
