Am I too hardworking?

Friendly. why should I be.... dun dream too much milo. Who you think you are? Another faceless identity on the computer. And you think I am being friendly? Oh please, grow up!

go on, be a coward eating on your own words.

Your posting on December 22, 2009 - 11:01 pm is groundless and hostile. Shooting with empty points to provoke.

If you are feeling really good about yourself about this, its tragic. Get a life.

Clark, its easier to pass judgement, than to take an objective view at the context itself. This aren't even a thread to condemn NS or anything. You are seeing the value in things only if u want to. This applies too to those that are quick to condemn and jump to these conclusions up high in your pedestal.

hehe, i think one of the most frustrating things... is simply to print a document.

as S4, u have a printer in the office but not for your pc. the printer in the office is not linked to Your pc... u are Not allowed to connect the printer becos this printer is for clerk purposes only. only printer avail for your printing is in the S3 office 20metres away.

u click on print, then u walk over to the S3 office to collect the print. u realise that the printer is OFF to conserve energy. u turn it on, then u have to walk back to your S4 office to click on 'print' again. u walk back to S3 office to collect the print, but u are told that u have to bring your OWN paper from your S4 office. u cancel the previous print from the queue, go back to get your own paper, bring to S3 office printer, then walk back to your S4 office to click on Print again... then u walk back to S3 office to collect your print.

this happened thru'out my recent ICT less than 3mths ago.

cheers!

ps: just an example of a particular camp.

My post on whatever date is already self explanatory, you cant understand? Go figure it out, need to be spoon fed again, SIR?
And yes with thanks, I have a life and a wonderful one. I see no tragic about feeling watsoever good about myself about watever.
Have a blast!

powder,

Interesting example.. but surely you would know better..

When I last had my ICT many years back.. I brought my own printer + laptop.. not going to let the inefficiencies of the SAF to slow me down.

ICT is a waste of time?

Yes, if you look at it from a personal perspective.. but if you are on the planning side.. for the manpower, training, logistics.. etc etc.. then you would have realize that it is really not so easy to plan out such that we can have optimal efficiencies..

I used to wonder why the army can't be more efficient.. basically it lacks the organizational skills and planning capabilities.. because a lot of people in the planning don't have the capability..

I was involved a lot in the planning and came to realize how much it can improve. It is not really they all set out to make everyone wait.. but it is really not so simple from an organizational perspective.. especially with the limited resources (people + equipment).

Once you realize the inefficiencies and the lack of resources, you would be more forgiving..

For me, ICT is always a good break from work.. yes, waste of some time but it is a good time to free your mind. No point complaining since it is not going to go away.

sm,

actually the term "waste of time" didn't originate from me. someone else used that term... it has a negative connotation to it and it has been attached to me by others.

it's the inefficiency and time taken to do things that gets to me. otherwise i'm fine... i would rather serve 2wks each time than 3wks... yes 3wks for the last few... for those who attend 2wks i think still bearable. 3wks is a long time away from my work and it does affect me, and it also makes it difficult for me to take leave for family purpose becos ict already take away 3wks of my 1 year. and u can try have 2 ict in the same year. i can appreciate that the army workyear is different, but i dun think clients n companies can appreciate us being away for 2 x 3wks in the same year.

for u it's a good break from work, but if u enjoy working like me, ict is dragging me into hell from a face-paced environment, to one where u wait for things n instructions. how pro-active can u be when u are supposed to wait for instructions?

i'm NOT complaining but pointing out my observations... those observations have been made to look like a complaint. i am a person who Doesn't complaint, it is not in my nature. i simply observe n share them - to serve the purpose of illustration.

complaints are when pple give feedback and want somebody to do something abt it... i dun need anyone to do anything abt it. i still serve my time, i'm just not ultra enthusiastic abt it becos of the time-spent. (i give 100% everytime i get a job, unfortunately u get like 1 job tat take 1hrs in a 12hr-day. i feel sad for the remaining 11hrs)

for a person like me who sleep on 4hrs a day and squeeze out every second of every minute... losing an hour waiting makes me feel regrettable for that lost hour. so u can imagine my turmoil in places where i have to wait, i have no control over my waiting, and i can do absolutely nothing abt it.

sm, the amount of time waste can actually be minimized. The frustration is pretty much the refusal to do so. The endless buffers that are put in place. Here's another simple example, when we are station at other camps to support their exercise, the unit basically allocate the least priority for the support unit. Making us park at carpark furthest away. Fact is, there are nearer carparks which they want to reserve for their own men despite effectively under utilized.

The solution is nothing like the inspiring or motivating stuffs, no BIG improvements and ideas blah blah blah blah. I just instructed my guys to remove the carpark labels and go on to park at nearer lots. Makes perfect sense and the right reccon done and this was the 'unofficial' suggestion provided.

Anyway, this entire single comment about unproductive time waiting have grown completely out to insult and provoke by specific individual.
