Alternative to wedding montage

I find it a little cliche to have a wedding montage of the bride and groom growing up and meeting before the banquet starts. Anyone has ideas of what we can do in place of the montage if we do not want to show it, so that the guests will not be feel like there is something missing?

during the cocktail session i pressume.

actually another alternative would be to show your pre wedding in slideshow. have a instant print station, and let the guest have something to bring back.

Weddings sometimes are also seen as great gatherings of people.

hmm.. instead of the photo montage, I have one pre wedding mtv done by professional videographer. I have also done up my own video comprising video clips of my wedding speech + some other clips on wedding preparation. not sure how the end product will look like though. still in the midst of doing it.

I had a video montage done by my PG... not the usual kind of childhood to courtship photos... idea is from my PG, we actually act out according to his plot.. quite refreshing imo..

how about a lucky draw? haha.. if u have the budget for it, letting guests win something will definitely liven up the atmosphere. Or play some games between the bride and groom?

Is a paid software....I tink is ard 200-300 hundred if u download online. Unless u have time to do it, if not is better to engage professional to do for you. My hubby took almost 1 mth to complete it

Hmm for me all my videos are DIY to cut cost, except the morning express highlights video which I engage professionals to do.

I played my DIY growing up photo montage as a looping video during reception with hotel's music list as there are no slots for me to play during the event.

Then I play our DIY ROM highlights before first march in, then DIY animation video and morning express highlights before 2nd march in.

you can view them if you are interested at http://siegebox.net/blog/?cat=38

the password for those video that are locked is my forum nick.

I locked them for erm copyright issue with music company? haha

haha thanks, frankly speaking my animation skill is not good, that's y it took me like a year to do. So the thinking of redoing animation will make me shivers hahah cos its really tedious as Im not using the correct method or best practice to do. So Sorry Azaleas.

And thanks for liking my video. Cheers!

Hi!

I am looking for an alternative to childhood wedding montage too. In fact, we have an idea. Since my HTB likes to perform, sing and dance k pop, we want to make sort of like a k pop mtv, getting our friends involved too.

I have a problem. Any recommendations as to who can do nice mtv? Cos most videographers I see on the forum specialise only in the usual wedding videos.

Hi all,
Not sure is this thread still active but I always thought that a wedding montage is not special at all. So i felt it does not necessary to have it if you don't but alternative you can consider to have some other entertainment depending on your budget. I

For myself I took this part out but I include in Live band so all can have a nice songs play while they enjoy their food.

I also engage a sand art artist to help me derive our story which i think its really special as this may be a new idea for wedding.

You may want to consider either :)

ichinx: good call! I don't think I will do childhood montage too. attended too many weddings as part of my job and I think it doesn't really capture the guests' attention. I'm probably doing a pre-wedding video and animation [:

I'm also thinking to skip the childhood montage and replace it with our proposal video, which is also about 4mins of a song.

Any comments will be appreciated:)

Hi babe! Err my HTB doesn't like the idea of all these silly videos and photos.. We're planning to skip having a videographer.. I think the proposal video is a good substitute! Most importantly you should do what makes you happy. I don't think it is necessary to do all the usual things nowadays.. A lot of people are opting to skip this and that and substitute with something they prefer!

I spliced a few movie scenes together + Star Wars introduction + childhood photos + prewed photos + couple photos + accompanying soundtrack with Windows Movie Maker. Took me about 2 weeks' time.
