catherine,
sorry for the late reply. went there in early Nov if i'm not wrong. we took the van. it's only 2 of us, so the ride was quite ok. there're stops in between for toilet break, so not too bad lah..

melodie,
yes. if you're taking the transport from aleenta, they will pick you up from any hotel in BKK. just need to inform them on the timing. When i booked my package with them, i told them exactly what time and where to pick us up. Told them to pick us up at our hotel lobby, give them the address too i think. Their check in time is 3pm i think, so i think i arrange for a 12pm pick up. Probably took and early lunch or something..

hi popie,
when thailand for my honeymoon too. we booked airtickets from tiger airways, 3 nites stay at asia hotel for shopping in BKK (thru direct emailing to Asia Hotel) and 3 nites in aleenta (thru direct emailing to aleenta). Once you contacted aleenta, they'll advise you how to go about booking the package and the price for the transport to and from Aleenta. It's very very easy.

din check out other resorts cos we fell in love with aleenta. It's a very small resort, only 10 suites but the service is excellent! very personal service and the staff very lovely people

i went there in early nov which is the end of monsoon but then the water still quite murky and lots of jelly fish.

Think the best time is Dec but then it might be peak period. Best check with them. And if you're so sure of the trip, why don't you just email them and start from there? Earlier is better right?

We booked like 3 months in advance and were just just lucky to get the room we wanted and the dates we prefered

easy to access to popular shopping area?

Hi catherine,
We took the cabin room. Quite all right and was suprised to find the toilet very clean and comfortable (marble and with bath tub). Very very reasonable for the price we paid... At that time, i think we paid about SGD50 per night for the room. So, each person only SGD25! So cheap right? Some more with breakfast and got 2 free sky train. They were having promotion for cabin room for 3 nites stay then.

mm, if you've never been to BKK before, then you have to check out chatukchat (most shops only open during the weekends, 10am - around 6pm). Can go by sky train. MBK and siam square also reachable by sky train. So, Asia Hotel is very convenient in that sense. Other places, we took cab.

Never take tuk-tuk. Very irritating and they always con you and bring you to some jewellery shop!

Oh yeah, must do some sight seeing too

Hi there! My FH and I are thinking of visiting Aleenta in Hua Hin for our honeymoon. I was wondering if there had been any changes for the cost of transfer from a hotel in bkk to Aleenta? Is this arranged with the resort itself?

Am looking at 2 days 1 night cos we are not very nuah ppl. Hehehe. What are some activities that are fun to do at Aleenta?

Thanks!

Hi Hui
Sorry for the late reply.
We stayed at the Ocean View Loft, total 4D3N.
Total expenses there is less than $2k (accomodation + expenses)

As it was part of my honeymoon trip, i booked and confirmed pretty early...maybe around Aug/Sept?

Hi schnauzie,
i went to the phuket one. it's cool. but if u want to go to places like Patong for shopping/food, it maybe good to rent a car to drive as the transport from hotel to Patong is more than THB3000.

Tip for those who are goin to the Phuket one:
Bring your own tea/coffee sachets. This is not provided.
Bring your ipod. There's a sound system for it

My hubby and I visited Aleenta for our honeymoon in July 2007, and it was a most enjoyable and rewarding experience. Service was great, food was fabulous and view at the penthouse was fantastic.

Would recommend it to anyone who wants great service in a fantastic resort - altho its still a little pricey. hehe.

I just had my honeymoon at Aleenta Phang Nga and I have to say that I was very disappointed with the resort.

We stayed at 2 resorts for our honeymoon, both luxury boutique resorts. The first resort we stayed at, The Sarojin (www.sarojin.com), was a dream. The rooms don't look as nice as the ones in Aleenta, but they more than made up for it with the excellent service, fantastic food and thoughtfulness that went into everything they do. We absolutely loved the place and are looking to go back for our first anniversary.

Aleenta, on the other hand, is very chic and has a gorgeous beach. We had an Ocean View Loft and the view from both the living area and the bed on the mezzanine floor were amazing. The beach has soft white sand and clear water. The Thai food is also pretty good, though the Western food was only ok. Unfortunately, that's where the good part stops.

Service - Despite it being our honeymoon and us reminding them about it several times, there was no effort to make the stay special for us. Also, the staff seemed aloof. In comparison, The Sarojin greeted me with a bouquet of roses, upgraded us to the best suite they had, arranged roses on the bed to say, "Happy Honeymoon" and presented us with a complimentary bottle of champagne! Throughout our stay, they also impressed us with their warmth. EVERYONE, including gardeners and other staff you wouldn't normally expected, greeted us whenever we passed them and spoke English well. We also had managers checking with us every once in a while about whether we were enjoying our stay and whether they could do anything for us. The amount of thought that went into everything was also amazing. For example, whenever we wanted to lounge by the beach, all we had to do was choose the seats and the attendants would arrange the towels on the seats nicely for us, set up the umbrella and serve us glasses of cold water.

Food - The Thai food at Aleenta was good but the western food wasn't impressive. We thought the breakfast on the first day was great, e.g. the croissants were warm and fluffy, but the breakfasts for the next few days weren't as good, e.g. the croissants were cold and the oil had settled at the bottom. We also didn't like that we didn't have a choice in some of the food. All the food at the Sarojin was amazing. And again, the thought that went into the place showed through its breakfast menu - it was an ala carte buffet where you could choose anything you wanted from the breakfast menu in unlimited quantities. That way, you could eat exactly what you wanted, the food would be freshly prepared and there would be very little wastage.

Spa - The prices of the services at the Aleenta spa were high, even higher than that at the Sarojin. Given the prizes Aleenta had won for being a spa hotel, we had high expectations. However, we were disappointed by a number of things. Firstly, unlike a number of spa we had been to, there was no lounge area where guests could wait while choosing their therapies or waiting for their rooms to be ready. Secondly, we felt the masseurs were mechanical and merely going through the motion. Their command of English wasn't very good, so they couldn't really understand us when we gave certain instructions. Thirdly, at the end of the massage, they rushed us to the changing room to get changed while they proceeded to clean up the rooms. With other spas like Divana or DVN in Bangkok or the Sarojin spa, we were given ample time to change, lounge around the room, take a shower if we wanted and so on. Fourthly, for a place that has won an award for being a spa hotel, it had surprisingly few choices when it came to massage oils and scrubs. There were only three massage oils to choose from.

Sorry about the long post. Just wanted to let you all know my experience with the Aleenta Phang Nga.

Has anyone tried the new Aleenta Resort & Spa in Phang Nga (just north of Phuket, Thailand)?
It's getting some good reviews on Trip Advisor but I'd love to hear from any Flyertalkers who have actually stayed there.

This was our first stay at Aleenta Phangnga, which is associated with the "Small Luxury Hotels of the World" collection.
The service provided by the management team and staff was excellent, being friendly, helpful and responsive.
The hotel "Restaurant" and "The Chefs Table" dinning options we used, provided excellent quality in both Thai & International cusine. Other options are avialable, but we had insuffiecent time to experience these. The service provided at each of the dinning options and at the Spa was excellent.
Our stay was in one of the resorts signature pool suites, which had all luxury facilities including a private pool, with separate jacuzzi bath and a small terrace overlooking the Andaman Sea.
We felt that the room really wasn't a suite until the "glass walls" have been retracted and the living area is then opened up to the terrace & pool, which for our stay was consistently open. We would recommend to try the in suite "Organic Moon Bath" as an option for a romantic evening, as either a "starter or desert"
The sea and beach view was terrific and the sound of the "crashing" waves onto the beach just a few meters away inspired a relaxing stay.
Although we had a mere two nights at Aleenta , this was sufficent for us to make the commitment to return next year, possibly for a family reunion in one of the 3 bedroom beach front villa's which were shown during our stay.
Altogether a fantastic boutique hotel on a beautiful beach and well worth the experience.
