hi andy,

gain city arrange for 2 times installation. first to run trunking & mark the air-con location...2nd time to install the unit. for mine, they came in 3rd time because the air-con was blocking my slide & hide door. So the salesman say will incurr another 40bucks or so...i thought i have no choice and 'agree' so later when they come & fix up the thing for me....the guy say no additional charge, which i am really glad.

I went to Gain city.....the sales guy's name cant remember. We bought a 5 years additional warranty too, just in case. coz their repairs is suppose to be unlimited. :)

hello all, after reading so many posts, i still have no idea which brand is still good to buy for a system 3 non-inverter...

hmm, so toshiba, mitsubishi, daikin or carrier is better?

u get what you pay, you can't be asking if honda is better or toyota, carrier bought over toshiba, carrier main focus is on their chillers, you dont hear 'the carrier man can' thing anymore ... mitsubishi and daikin are both japan brands but made in thailand though qc still by japanese, some people ban/hate/discourage a certain brand because they had a single bad experience with it where some people recommend a brand because theirs work fine. just like electronic products or cars sometimes u are just unlucky and get a not so good one, nothing can be 100% perfect .. and most end user didn't realise that new aircon failure is mostly due to improper installation by the contractor and not the equipment itself .. look at your budget and usage pattern to decide on a brand, to me daikin and mitsubishi are quite similiar with 5 years warrenty on compressor and 1 yr on parts as default ... just my 5 cents worth

I just had my Toshiba sys-3 non-inverter installed for $1850. According to my installer, Toshiba is a better choice, as brands like Mitsubishi, some spare parts are not readily avail in S'pore. Hence, it could be a problem if some of the spare parts break down.

im hestitating to buy toshiba, samsung or panasonic.. im just a normal user.. but the salesperson says that toshiba has a new model so unsure of feedback, panasonic being gettg complains of noisy compressor in recent months so he recommend samsung... but i saw that samsung is not very energy efficiency, only 2 ticks.. can anyone advise me? thanks!

I've gotten a Mitsubishi Inverted Aircon last Nov. As I've 4 bedrooms I've bought 2 system 2(ie with 2 compressors, each serving 2 fan-coils). Unfortunately, 2 of the fan-coil are producing cracking sounds like "TUG" every few minutes thoughout the night. Does anyone here share the similar experience?

i finally decided on mitsubishi cos its the same price with toshiba and mitsubishi should be quieter and more energy efficient.. hope my choice is right

silas, did you check back with your aircon installation company on why this happen?

i see.. how come you didnt consider daikin? it has 3 ticks of energy savings, along with toshiba. mitsubishi has 2.

LG has 3 ticks too for their system 3 non inverter

well i heard from my aircon guy that daikin is one of the more popular brand too, along with panasonic and toshiba. however the prices he quoted for toshiba & mitsubishi aircons matches my budget and these 2 brands has better feedback than the rest.. :D

are you planning on buy aircon too? which brands are you considering?

hahah... yeah i guessed as much, daikin is definitely higher in terms of pricing. MA56 is one of the fantastic non inverter in the market.

But just curious why not toshiba. In fact between the 2 they are both comparable and somehow i would have chosen toshiba over mitsubishi by sheer virtue of the nos of tick of energy savings.

No lah i have mine fixed already long time. around 3 years plus. daikin inverter system 4. great no regret.

LG would be shortlisted as well as the new one design the non inverter seems to get better reviews than the Artcool. their artcool is a big NO NO. but the non inverter system 3 seems pretty okay from spec and from some users.

Hi Starjoy,
Yes I did. Their feedback is the same as those Mitsubishi engineers, that the aircon does produce the cracking sound. The analogy they gave was liken to ice cube removed from fridge to room temp. There'll be cracking sounds. They even show me the aircon menu which stated clearly that the aircon may produce the cracking sound so I've no ground for arguement. Who would ever read the menu before purchasing anyway

Of course I can't say that it'll happen to you Starjoy cos my other 2 units(I've bought 4)are working fine.

just an update. The technician from Mitsubishi came by last Sat to have a look at my fan coil just to confirm that the cracking sound is not a manufacturing problem but the room/space condition it is being installed. So whoever is planning to buy any aircon, whichever brand it maybe, pls don't commit the same mistake tt I've have. check their menu vigilantly. Else you'll be stuck with an air con that wakes you up every now & then

hi Danny, i will strongly recommend Daikin as its the fact that they are major on AC and also:-
-Price is almost same to the other.

-In event that the compressor is spoilt(5 yr warrent for all wellknow brand) Daikin charge only labour fee of $300 compare to other $600.

sidetrack abit. all of you who intend to buy new AC got to act fast before Aug. Start from Aug you will not possible to get non-invertor unit under local energy Acts(Sg can only sell min 4 tick invertor R410), the price will be about $900 compare to normal you paying now.

If you were to ask, why use non-invertor? Ans is that for normal house usually you will buy system3. If you on all 3 units daily, invertor will be strong recommend to you. However, if only 1 or 2 unit is to be operated, there is not much different on your bill.

Invertor and R410 fetch a double cost of repair and servicing.

Just my 2 cents .

i agreed with Jason.. however, govt is pushing GREEN.. so inverter will soon take over non-inverter..

Daikin is mainly manufacturing Aircon only. So they are more prof in research,

does anyone bought the Mitsubishi MS-FF13VC? with I-See Sensor. Mind Sharing? Previous experience using the basic model of Mr.Slim and after 1yr not so cooling and also the famous "TUG TUG" sound came in. Not too sure if their newer model works fine? Headache which brand to go (YORK or Mit) , as there are many salesman and contractor also recomend Mit.
Reason why shortlist YORK because its famous fast COOLING speed and its comfortable cool. But heard some said noisy, but the salesman said take the latest model which they have improved and no more noise. G2 Model. But also no energy saving that is rated as 5-stars energy saving like Mit.
appreciate for sharing
