About Bridal Shop services

Just would like to hear some comments from forumers here

Lately, i was told by 1 of my contact that bridal shop owner does pop by singaporebrides forum to view thread on BTB comments about their services

However, i was told that there are history of bridal shop owner sueing couples for posting negative comments about their service and demand compensation from couples for loss of income due to the above mentioned factors

For me, when i was a BTB to be, having coming to singaporebrides forum to read through the bridal shop thread gave me a good review the services of the bridal shop whom i had signed package with but now, coming to think of it, if bridal shop demand compensation from wedding couples for negative comments, then where is the freedom of speech here?

My contact also told me that there was 1 couple here whom got fined by the court for got posting negative comments about their bridal shop and they even lost their job because of this incident

I will feel jittery if i'm a BTB and were to post any future comments here

What's ur view?

Bridal shops that pursue legal actions over genuine posts about their service should be boycotted. List anyone?

eh... i guess the shop has the right to do such things..

like my package, i was made to sign a non-disclosure with them as e price i was give was unbeatable. lols

if what u spoke is the truth... then who can sue u?

if what u spoke are lies and as 3rd-party info... then u should be abit worried.

still, forums have been around for a long time... i'm sure there are avenues to sue pple for Lies and Bull... but for the truth??

as long as u're not lying n u can substantiate, there's no need to fear lawsuits.

If they have rights to sue,we have consumer rights to boycott suppression of free speech.

very true, totally agree with you but what i heard was the bridal shop wanted to sue the couple was because they 指明é“姓

i tink nwadays sg bridal shop are kinda scary, no only hard sell but oso alot of "stance"

No wonder alot of wedding couples chose to go for JB / Taiwan BS

1 last ques, if u kw whom d bridal shop is suing, wld u "pre-warn" that wedding couple even thou u dun kw them?

i'm kinda amazed that anyone can sue anyone unless they are confident of winning, which in this case - they can prove that what the couple said is Untrue. else it's just a scare tactic...

for myself i would not involve myself unless i know the couple well enough to know if they're lying or not, but generally i wouldn't involve myself... the liars would be exposed if the matter is taking such a route.

Was it libelous? Was it factual? It all depends on what the couple said.

If everything was based on fact, then there's nothing to fear. But sometimes people complain and withhold certain information. ie. Perhaps the shop did try to mediate or do something about it but the couple conveniently left it out. Some companies are also known to use their 'legal counsel' to frighten customers or bloggers to retract their statements. I believe often though, small companies do not proceed with any lawsuit because it is too much trouble, and costs them money too.

True, i cannot based on 1-sided story. Pple tend to withheld info that is not beneficial to them

sad to say we dun have freedom of speech.Anyone can be sue under Defamation if he/she make a false claim.

freedom of speech does not encompass making unsubstantiated claims, lies, and crap... obviously someone would wanna sue since that's a viable option compared with punching the daylights out of u, stabbing u or killing u.

Frankly speaking,

this is the result of stupid consumers in singapore.

I'll walk out straight every single time when shop owners tell me crap like signing NDA etc.

Still get my stuff done, better and often cheaper.

Been warning frds about SPAs, Gyms craps. Silly ppl telling me ppl biz so big, dun worry wont close down.

It is consumer stupidity really. And no one can help them.

Good for u Jen, I see that u r one of the smarter one whom question. Like what other forummer say, open ur eyes and look at alternatives like TW bridal shops. Open ur eyes and think while dealing with them also though.

One thing i can tell u, is that TW shop charge way higher in SG, then if u book the package in TW itself.

Ops, sorry, been away from the forum as i was busy settling down in my new job

Yap, agree that if it's defamation, then it makes sense for the bridal shop owner to sue wedding couples but i find that sometimes it's hard to say if it's pure defamation as each side will have their own story

sometimes, i feel that DIY wedding is better thou very tedious but u will nt face problem like this when u had signed a package with bridal shop in singapore

i believe the higher cost for TW bridal shop in singapore is much higher could be due to what they had offered in their package n i think it comprises photoshoot in TW?

nevertheless, i juz feel that i have to note my comments posted in any forum in future to safeguard myself

Jen,

a lot of TW bridal shop does not have a shop front in Sg. They do their business over exhibition.
There are some risk since they are not registered here.
