Actually, whatever suggestions you will get, you must have heard them umpteen times. There is nothing special nor are there miracle advices that works overnight. It is really up to you to take them seriously and be willing to change.

1) healthy breakfast, no fried bee hoon or oily stuffs please, preferably fruits and juice
2) recommend fish slice soup with 1/3 bowl of rice. Or else, eat yong tau foo with unfried stuffs and lots of veggie. If possible, skip the noodle or rice.
3) no dinner after 8pm. If possible, limit your rice intake to, maybe 1/3 bowl. Drink a big bowl of soup to fill you up, if you feel as if you did not take your dinner

4) Do some toning exercises before sleep. Do arm stretches, carry 1kg dumb bells and do abdomen stretches.
5) don't sit on the office chair all day long. Try using the stairs and try walking around as much as possible
6) try walking as much as possible. Don't rely too much on the car

It's ok to eat after 8pm but eat light and no carbo stuff ie: bread, noodles, rice, prata.

Chnge your diet to wholemeal bread, wholemeal biscuits, and more fruits.

I am also trying to cut down my daily intake of rice, which is the main cause of weight gain, and eat fruits whenever I am hungry.

Jogging and sit ups are also a must to reduce weight and tummy fats.

I think it's pointless eating all the pills that claim they can help u lose the tummy, because you won't nkow the side effects of the pills and whether they can harm your liver.

I swear by weight training - it builts up muscles and muscles burns more calories than fats even when you're not doing anything. Have managed to lose my last 5 kg (which is the hardest to lose) on it although I have stopped for sometime and can feel myself becoming flabbier. Weight have gone down but my jeans feel tighter because I'm losing muscle mass and muscle weighs more than fats

Actually, the truth is not to eat 4 hours before you sleep not so much as a fixed time to cut off food intake.

This is because food takes 4 hours to be digested into your system and sleeping before that makes food harder to digest and may result in weight gain.

hi all,

recently I have read an article with a dietician from Changi Hospital advising that it is not when you eat but what you eat that matters.

as long as what you eat in total for the day does not exceed your daily recommended intake, then you wont put on weight. However, if you want to lose weight, then the total calories intake must be less than the total calories output.

make sense?

Agreed... everything boils down to calories (intake and output) at the end of the day, although eating at times when your metabolism rate is slower does hinder with food digestion and indirectly cause weight gain.

Having said that, even if you do not eat anything after 6pm but have your main bulk of your meals during the day time you will still gain weight if you eat more than your daily required calorie needs.

Hi I've mail you to ask for enlightenment :p

It's interesting to be reading thread about losing wt. Have always believe exercise and diet is the healthy way of losing wt but somehow that's the toughest way too :p depends on your own discipline.

Self discipline & determination are the 2 important elements if we really want to lose weight.

I've recently lost 3kg within 3 days by following the 3 days apple diet. It's very effective and no bounced back!

I agree with Serene

Self discipline and determination is the key. Also believe that we should never be too strict on ourselves. Yes.. we control the diet and exercise but we should also reward ourselves at times.. esle we may end up binge-ing and all effort we have put in would be in vain...

Have been told to do this exercise to reduce the waistline. Haven't really been consistent with it so can't vouch for it myself but friends have said it works. So here goes..

Suck in ur tummy and contract ur abs till u feel the sides contracted as well. Hold in ur abs/tummy , ur chest up and back straight and breathe in and out normally for about 8 times. Ensure your contracted abs remain contracted and not move, ONLY ur chest moves with each breath

8 times is 1 set. Do about 2 sets each time. The thing about this is it's convenient and can be done anytime, be it while u are standing straight or sitting straight

Hi Yying2

think that's the most convenient method since can do anytime of the day and anywhere.

My prob has always been the waist down. Seems like it's permanently un-tonable.

Anyone with any idea of exercises or whatsoever that tones up the butt and upper thighs?

To have some light meal after 8 is fine for myself. If I stick with the following:

No large portion
Relaxing after work is important, do not sit and watch tv most of the time
Eat slowly does helps to break down food easily
Control the amount of sweet food
A must to have light breakfast, I do not skip my breakfast
Do sports at least once a week for 30mins, slowing increasing it to twice or even 3 times.

Supper is the main culprit for weight increment.

Detox may help. Once you are detoxed, whatever nutrients you take will be absorbed by your body in a more effective way.

Saw in Healthy Times Aug / Sep issue on this S-factor Plus which acts as a meal each time you eat. Gives you all the nutrients you require on a daily basis (written on the bottle cap). Just started over the weekend and claims to lose 5kg to 10kg in 2 weeks. ITS TOUGH cause you are not to eat any other things except this 3 meals a day. VERY TOUGH n still trying...

if really cant kick that late nite supper cravings, i'll recommend eating fruits as an alternative. But not too much though in case the excess water content in some of the fruits caused us to wake up next morning wif puffy eyes.. :p

It is best not to eat after 8pm. If can, just 1 serving of fruit. At nite, metabolism rate is slow so food is digested quite slow as conpared in the morning.
