Hi guys & gals

I have come to a stage of selecting hob & hood for my new house.

For hob, need to seek your advice as to whether tempered glass or stainless is better?

As for hood, any brand that u can recommend for easy maintenance?

Thanks!

Can try to ask the price in goh ah bee at hougang for the model you like. Tel : 62888611

I bought one of fujioh hob and hood (with toughen glass). Outside price is 700-800 after island wide discount but the shop can save extra more 20% and no GST & delivery fee, free installation if your kitchen top already done.

They willing to give you the item price via phone (they very confident on their pricing) and also place order. No need to go down personally since the shop is normal shop house size not much space to display all the things they sell. Payment only need to make upon delivery.

Hi Littleblue,

how good and effective is your Fujioh Hob and Hood? Many people telling me not to install a hood because it is not effective in removing oil from cooking fumes. But I also got a recommendation from friend that Fujioh hood is good compare to other brands of hood in the market.

Please advise.

Thank you

dear i think you can head down to the turbo booth and ask the sales person for a better recommendations.

sometimes they can offer a good bundle when there's on going promotion as well.

thanks dear.

i went down to the turbo showcase again and ask the sales person. he recommended a few models.

looking thro the selection right now before making our choice.

hopefully will get the one best suited for the family.

please do that.

the sales person will recommend you what he thinks is suitable for your family lifestyle and whatsnot.

i think the best would be to think thro carefully and not get it on the impulse. the optic white glass hob may be pretty but it has its restrictions.

so do think carefully when selecting your hob design!

the sales person recommended me quite a few models that were suitable for my family.

it's true that the optic white glass hob is pretty but then again for family like mine that does quite a bit of cooking it's not really suitable for my family.

so now we're looking to a normal one from turbo instead. my parents havent decide on which model yet tho. hahaha.

plenty of time to think about it.

your parents should decide based on how much cooking they do in the kitchen.

like what i have said before, it's best to get a hob that best suits the family and not get it because it's pretty or not.

turbo or not, i hope your family is happy with their purchase!

yeah they did after speaking to the sales person.

i must admit the turbo sales person was really good and they were quite impressed with the service despite them asking the fella tons of questions.

sometimes it's the commitment that the sales persons have that makes the difference.

so which turbo hob did your parents get? or did they went ahead with the glass hob?

my parents got the stainless steel one from turbo instead as it suits the family lifestyle better.

maybe when i get my own place, i'll get the glass hob. don't think i'll be doing much heavy duty cooking also. haha.

oohh. yeah. the stainless one would be good for frequent use in the kitchen.

i'm getting the turbo glass hob for my new place and thinking of changing my parent's place one as theirs is abit old. so maybe will go see if there are any good offers.

ya. the stainless steel one is good. and i think it would be easier to clean also when there's frequent cooking going on.

and also, my mum has all sort of pots and pans of different sizes. better to get that instead of the glass hob despite it being pretty. i think turbo has one of the nicest white glass hobs around.

i think it's true. the stainless steel ones would be good because i think it will be able to handle the different sizes and weights of the hobs.

the turbo glass hob are indeed one of the nicer looking ones in the market now. it's such a pity that with glass hobs, it comes with many restrictions.

however, for turbo hobs, i think the main thing would be their flame control and also they come with a safely feature which is good for family with kids.

i have to agree, the glass hobs are really pretty and easy to clean as well but there are many restrictions to using it. like the different wok sizes and all.

my parents got the normal stainless steel one as she was afraid that if we were to change the glass hob, it would give way after long use.

i got the turbo optic white glass hob in mind for my own apartment in the future. hehehe.

the glass hobs are easy to clean as you can just use a damp cloth and wipe it clean. i guess pretty things come with plenty of restrictions.

my mum ordered a stainless steel one from turbo recently. 3 burners as it was recommended by the sales. and also she got a new hood as well. just in time for cny.

ya. that's what i like about the glass hobs. the turbo ones have them in white and they look really good imo.

a stainless steel one is good as well. suitable for families that does plenty of cooking. easy to maintain as well.

they will be delivering the new turbo hob after the near year. my mum decided to get them to fix it up after the new year as it's a little too rush.

other than that, i read that turbo has a really good fire system that enables the heat to be evenly spread out.

apparently for the stainless steel ones from turbo, i remember that their fire is evenly spread out to enable fast and efficient cooking.

i didn't know that personally. i only know my aunt recommended my mum to turbo so she went to check it out and apparently bought it.

let me try it out first when it comes then i let you know. hehehe.

well, my house will be getting our new turbo hob fixed today. seriously, can't wait to get rid of the old one as it's getting really hard to use.

i realized my aunt has been using the turbo glass hob for very long already and she has been cooking almost every day.

quite surprised to know that it's still in good condition despite hearing so much about the glass hobs.

i guess with the proper care and all, the glass hob works just like any other hob!

i was at the turbo showroom the other day and this auntie was there with her friends. she got her glass hob almost 10 yrs ago already and been using it since then. she says she don't remember being told of any restrictions on the glass hob so i don't know who to believe!

as long as you know how to use it the correct way, i think it's gonna last!

i guess knowing how to use the glass hob helps to maintain it and it'll work perfectly fine like any other type of hob.

my parents got the normal stainless steel hob from turbo instead. so far no complains about it. it's working perfectly fine and the parents are very happy with it.

the glass hobs are just like any other type of hobs. as long as you know how to use it and maintain it, you can make it last.

i guess the glass hobs from turbo are quite good since i read a few reviews up and they have been using it for years and its still working well.

Hi, anyone placed Their hob & hood facing the kitchen window? As my kitchen is small, square size,my contractor suggest placing my hob at kitchen window.so to have more worktoP space. Am not sure if that's good.any advice?

hey kale. my friend's hob and hood is placed beside a small window. she used to have issues with the hob and recently changed it to a turbo one i think.

when she cooks, she will leave a gap in the window to allow ventilation. i think you should see how the contractor designs the layout and decide if that's the best choice.

the turbo hob at my place is placed near the window due to space constraint as well. but so far i never hear my mum complain about the placement of the thing.

i think its how you adapt to the layout bah.

Hi all, i recently bought rinnai hood, hob and oven from jerome. He is highly recommended in renotalk forum. His price is cheap and delivery is prompt. You may want to contact him at 92256638 for a quote. My id brought me to buy sink, tap and that shop sells rinnai hood, hob as well. When i tell the sales person of the price i'm getting, he was shocked and didnt even bother to counter offer me. The sales person say the price i'm getting is super good. I'm sharing this with you hoping that you could benefit from it as well. No harm contacting him for a quote. He is v friendly and definitely not pushy.

Thanks @KatyDesouza! Got the same feedback from a friend of mine and guess what! I'm now the proud owner of a new Tecno T333TG Glass Hob, their KA2228 Chimmney hood, and a Tecno Largo-60 built-in oven. Absolutely loving them. Whipped up a 3 course meal for our guests during my house warming last week and am absolutely looking forward to taking my cooking to a new level now hahaha.
