My hotel is offering a 2 tier real wedding cake or a 5 layers of mocked cake on the stage for cake cutting. Do people cut the cake and give to the guest for consumption?
Hi, I also prefer real cake. It's only once in a lifetime that you can cut a real wedding cake. But it's personal preference and if there is budget for it.
I've opt for a cake at the top tier and the rest are mini cupcakes. Easier to be distributed to guys.
I found Annie from another forum where people recommended her red velvet cupcakes. Very nice lady, home-based. Price is also consider affordable as she will give suggestions and try to work within your budget. (It is also halal so your Muslim friends can enjoy the cake too)
You can go to Facebook to look at some of her creations. FB name is Deanna Goh.
Thank you for your feedback. Since the hotel is giving me a free 2 tier real cake, I am thinking should i use it on stage or the mock one? I am not sure if 2 tier is too low for photography purpose.
My concern is alos do we distibute the cake and if yes, when will be a good time to let the guest have the cake during the dessert time ? For a 2 tier cake , is it enough for 200 guests?
I doubt it is enough for 200 guests. Maybe you can distribute to relatives only.
I believe that the photographer are professional and should be able to capture the moment.
I attended a friend wedding where they has a 3 tier cake, they served it after they cut the cake. But it's up to you when you want the cake to be distribute. Because they scare that the guests are too full to have the cake as dessert. There were about 280 guests. But it's a big 3 tier cake.
They serve a big slice per table and whoever like to have a piece just slice it further with the common knife provided.
Attached is a cake chart that I saw online for your reference. Hope this helps.

The hotel gave very attractive perks like this real 2 tier cake....plus additional 10 bottles of wine (on top of the 1 bottle per confirmed table). It is really very worth it since i have the free flow of beer for 4hrs. Save me headache on my beverage.
but this promotion only valid til 15 Feb 2015. Anyone needs to know more..I can share with you.
Nice cake! It would cost a bomb to have it made outside... maybe you could save a portion for your family to take home? Not too sure if after dessert will be full.
so cool to have them giving it to you FOC, if worrying if it's enough. you can try asking the manager how much to top up, if you want a bigger cake that can serve all guest? i would feel serving all guest as a desert will be a good idea.
