Some hotel are willing to extend 2015 pricing & perks or have a additional $50 -100 on top of 2015 price for 2016 booking.

I've booked mine at Four Seasons for wedding lunch in Dec 2015 :)

The wedding venues are very competitive especially for popular hotels. So it will be better if u can start scouting one year and earlier. Four Season's wedding package price for 2015 was released sometime last month. The price increase for 2015 was about 5% as compared to 2014.

Hi girls, did you all get a fortune teller to choose your auspicious date?
I initially didn't want to as I wanted my wedding to be on 12 dec 2015. It's out fifth anniversary together. But htb parents insisted so after seeking a fortune teller our wedding will be on Jan 2016 instead

I've checked our dating anniversary on 2015 and 2016 too. I think 2015 is too fast for us and it falls on Monday anyway and 2016 falls on a Wednesday...LOL.
Bf said looking at 1Q 2016...

My BTO expected to complete 1Q 2016 but judging from the progress, seems like maybe 3 or 4Q of 2015....and people are saying HDB is quite strict to those who have taken AHG grants and require them to produce marriage cert on the date of key collection?
In quite a dilemma now. :(

Oh!!! Mine is exactly the same scenerio too! Yuppppp. I was thinking I can go ahead and rom on 12 dec then have my banquet in jan 2016. If not just delay my collection of keys for 1 mth loh. Hdb indeed need couple to produce cert before collection of keys if you have taken AHG. Ever think of having ur rom and dinner on different day?

To be honest, we are actually torn between whether to split ROM + banquet, or just ROM + lunch buffet. Of course, I prefer to have the "full" thing but if it strains us financially, then Im okay to do without the banquet....we have not discussed this with our parents yet though. LOL. Everything is at its super prelim stage, heh.

How do you know that HDB is very strict on couples who have taken the AHG?

Anyway, if completion is earlier than expected, say maybe 3Q or 4Q 2015 which I highly suspect so, will it suffice to prove that we have already booked our banquet in 1Q 2016?

if completion is earlier than expected, you can try appeal by providing prove of ROM or banquet dinner as you can always argue that you plan accordingly to date provided.
if completion or possession is delay, den no chance of appeal.

actually according to hdb AHG is for married couple only. That's why need cert need to be produce regardless of ur completion date. May write to appeal but personally have not heard of any successful case before. If anyone have any successful case to share pls let us know so we know what to write. Haha.

Hi! I googled and found something that may be useful to those intending to defer the deadline submission of the marriage cert.

I quote "We were under the AHG scheme. By right we were supposed to submit our ROM cert but we gave them quite a early notice(As soon as we resubmit our HLE) to defer our submission. Everything went on smoothly, we just had to sign a agreement with them to submit the marriage cert by a certain date."

That's really great! Hope by the time we get keys they will still be as flexible. Yeah!

Hello everyone~ looking for brides getting married in jan 2016 to share recommandations on rom, wedding dinner and bridal package sourcing~~
i just got engaged and we are looking at having the wedding in Jan 2016. really donno where to start from..

Hi, i'm not a 2016 bride but thought might be able to give some suggestions ;)
During my own wedding preparations, first of all definitely have to decide on a date first. You can start thinking about the budget for hotels and packages and all already too.
We started off with discussing with our own parents on what is their expectations of our wedding. In case they need those auspicious date and whatever traditions. We feel that it's better to understand their expectations first before planning to avoid conflicts. Then we went on to check out the prices listed in the websites for banquet per table rates and shortlist the few that fits into our budget before arranging for appointments to visit the venue. From the first hotel we visit we were able to get a rough idea on what a banquet package would have, and what are the things we really need. And from the others we were able to get a better idea on the overall cost.
Then we went on sourcing for bridal package the same way. First one is just to get a list on what are the things included. Our agreement is to not sign anything on impulse no matter how attractive the package is. We'll compare and discuss the offer and see if those things are really needed. Then slowly cut off the number of options before finalising. Of cause, the salesperson plays a big part on our decision making too. Hope this helps!

We have yet to set a date too. Master Tong advised a few dates most of which fall in 2015 dec... But we are thinking perhaps jan 2016. Other than that, we still can't seem to decide whether to ROM first or hold it together with AD. But AD would most probably be a lunch banquet... Still trying to weigh the pros and cons, especially on the financials. lol!

ohhhh. i think lunch banquet is quite common nowadays too! my gf did hers last nov. i only notice the only 'issue' is quite rush lo. hers is morning gatecrash then to groom place for tea ceromony then to church for ceromony and rom. then chiong down to hotel for her side tea ceromony then gotta prepare for banquet liao.. haha! my parents more tradition so gotta do a dinner banquet. i think fri/sat consider weekend, pricing got difference from sun.

We signed our banquet with Orchard hotel. There is a difference in pricing for lunch and dinner, and also weekdays and weekends. We took up during their promo earlier this year, directly from the hotel. The main reasons for choosing Orchard was the overall pricing was reasonable given all the perks that are included. And also they have a pretty ballroom with high ceiling! Maybe you girls can arrange to visit and check the venue and their package out before asking if there will be any promotions coming up for 2016 pricing. ;)
Based on my experience, i think bridal package is the more tricky one.. Heard many stories from another member in this forum and also some of my girls who have had unpleasant encounters.

waaa sounds nice.. how do u go abt asking for visit huh? can just walk in or have to book appt? call up the hotel? email? what do u usually ask for?? im thinking of maybe go c c bridal shops first. like more straight forward leh. i just did sort of like a checklist of the things i need. major ones will be the banquet, photoshoot, wedding package. alot of other things like sisters, their outfit, rom, wedding bands, omg... what else??

Definitely have to call and book appointment. Typically just need to email and ask them to send the price package. If the budget fits, then call to make appointment to view.

To me, I would prefer to settle my venue first before looking for bridal shops. This way, I can tweak my wedding theme according to the venue chosen.

Now, I am searching for a recommended Wedding Gown shop and Make Up Artist. Let me know if you girls have any!

Hi! Would like to recommand my bridal boutique Graceful Image! We took an actual-day package with no pre-wedding photography. So far have done with gown selection and fitting after alteration. Very impressed and satisfied with the quality and variety of the gowns, the professionalism, and wonderful service! :)

In my opinion I think whether to have a theme it's entirely up too you. It's your wedding after all so decide on what u like and plan according to your preference :)

Mine's a wedding lunch too. Most likely my itinerary for AD is
1) Gatecrash, Fetch The Bride (may head to hubby's house after FTB )
2) to hotel for ROM
3) tea ceremony
4) wedding lunch banquet

Haha you are really doing homework researching! Yup i posted quite abit on the Graceful Image thread in the bridal boutique section. Was really excited during that process. Now that the most important thing for me (the gowns) are settled, it's such a huge relieve!
Nope we didn't really shop around cause we are so comfortable with Graceful Image's service and the whole experience. Also mainly they are able to provide us with what we need and within our budget. Plus the assurrance they gave us then, we felt that this is what we wanted. And also by looking at the album of their gowns i had already spotted a few that i really liked. And i have no regrets at all. The whole process went so smoothly and stress-free, which was what we needed as my fiance and i are very very busy with work, thus we can't afford to risk having hiccups for this whole preparation process.
As for getting packages during roadshows, there are stories of people who signed packages that seems to be a good deal with alot of throw-in freebies at low attractive prices. But when the day comes for selection of gowns they find themselves unable to get any suitable gowns due to restricted selection, or certain hidden costs and surcharges which was not brought up and stuffs. This was the key reason we decided to give road shows a miss and agreed to just visit the actual bridal boutique and speak with the actual person-in-charge. :D

Gatecrash prob sth simple, no tough challenges I think :p I have two suggested timing for FTB, either 5am-7am or 9am-11am. Haven't decide which timing to pick yet. The first timing is really early lol

for jan btb, when are u girls planning to take ur pre-wedding shoot? also, when are u planning to book a banquet/place for ur ROM/AD?

Recommended to take the pre-wedding shoot half a year before AD. Booking of banquet will be one year and earlier if possible to secure the popular dates and venue. Do the research and meet up with the different hotel co-ordinators to discuss the plans and package details first.

Yes, it's a tradition for Teochew grooms to fetch the bride before sunrise, say 5 a.m.? I think 3 a.m. is a little way to early hehe
