Hihi, Dec 2015 btb here :D Planning so early that it's scaring those around me, haha

Well I guess people don't really understand how much work is taken to arrange for that one day of event. I don't want to be one of those brides that wished I had more time to plan after the wedding day ;)

OMG my birthday is on 21st April too, i'm a 1989 baby... hahaha.. can't believe so coincidental ;)

Oh I am into DIY too, I'm currently doing a paper origami flower ball (want to use this to decorate the church) and a brooch bouquet (gifting this to my friend who is getting married end of the month, will do another one for myself)...

They are very nice my dear! I'm sure the final products will be very beautiful. So you spend around how much for this? At least $50 or more?

Hey babe, thank you ;) for now about SGD50 cause I bought most of the materials online. Still gotta bling it up with some crystals and pearls so it looks fuller...

hi @mianbaolian yes it is! just that it's probably not very active now cause we are about 15 months away from our wedding ;)

Having said that, what have you booked so far?

@mcpig well 15mths is actually not that long hahah!

Have set my wedding to be on 19th Dec 2015 and shortlisted Crowne Plaza hotel (same as @ahfatapril ). Am going down this Fri to do viewing and finalise the package details. If everything ok then its good to go! *crossed fingers* :D

@mianbaolian that's true... 15 months to settle all the nitty gritty stuffsss!

Jia you and have fun for your final appt this friday! do not be afraid to ask for more ;) Are you meeting Alina? or Janice?

Yea gonna be thick skin!! ;););)

All the little stuffs add up to be quite a lot! So i think better to be early than late...further more its once in a lifetime thingy~

Im meeting Alina, both of them replied to my enquiry but i saw other threads recommended Alina so i chose her.

Another crowne plaza bride too! Hahaa. Who's ur coordinator? Remember to ask for more bargain! :)

@ahfatapril my coordinator is Alina, is she yr coordinator too?

Im trying to think of what extras can i ask for....did you manage to bargain for anymore perks?? :p

Yup. She's my coordinator too. Initially I wanted to take the normal package, but because according to crowne plaza, my date falls under the hot date, so I have to get the premium package rates, and my htb like their poolside, so we tie in with solemnisation for that too. So I got more bargaining power to bargain for more things. One useful tips is, if u don't like some of their perks, always try to ask what can they offer or what they can exchange or trade for. Best is go to a few shortlisted hotel and see what other offers n what u can exchange for. If wanna know more, just pm me. Hahaa..

@mianbaolian anyway, if ur dates are selected by feng shui master most prob it will be considered as their hot dates. Cos, recent years, they are quite hot for hotels as they are famous for their forest theme ballroom, high ceiling, and no columns. Also, there's only 1 ballroom to choose and ppl won't go to the wrong reception. Additional perks that you can negotiate are like percentage of carpark coupons, wedding cards, cockage fee etc. things u can trade is mayb helper room or 1 night stay for bridal suit to additional barrel of beer and wine. Best, is try and negotiate for free flow for both will be the best deal if ur guest drink a lot. Stay firm and polite, be sincere if u are keen in taking up the ballroom, and they will definitely try their best to help u after all, as they also wan to close the deal too. :)

@ahfatapril i didnt consult a feng shui master for the date selection, what i did was just google on the auspicious date to get married in Dec 2015 haha! Im not that pandang =S But when i contacted Alina she also told me that it is one of the hot dates and offered me the premium package instead of the normal one too. So with the premium perks of beer and wine shouldnt be a problem. I will try to nego on the % of invitation cards and additional one night stay.
Me and my htb shortlisted a few hotels, but e rest are either no more availability on the dates, low ceiling and the review on their coordinators and food is kind of worrying Lol! Yes! i like e idea of only one ballroom so there wont be people sharing the reception area with you and standard of food wont varies :)

Things you can negotiate for:-

1. Free flow beer/wine
2. Free corkage
3. Pre dinner/reception canapes
4. dinner for band/helpers etc
5. Additional night for bridal suite
6. Overnight stay for helpers' room
7. Additional invitation cards
8. Free printing of inserts for invitation cards
9. Additional carpark coupons
10. Anniversary stay or meal

Note: If you can't do free flow of beer/wine, try to ask for 2 barrels of beer and one bottle per table, it should suffice if you don't have too many drinkerrssss ;)

Also another tip is to not serve alcohol for reception and only start serving when first course starts...

From my understanding, premium package has 3 barrels of beer, and free flow of red and white wine from the start of reception. But, try to negotiate to free flow of beer if your guest really drink a lot. If they don't, u can trade 1 barrel of beer for a lot of stuff. And check with them what they can offer first before u tell them what u want to trade for cos sometimes they wan do sales they might offer more stuff to u. Anyway, u going solemnize on the same day too?

Thanks @mcpig for the suggestions :)

@ahfatapril Yep u are right for the premium package. We are thinking to swap out 1 barrel of beer, 90litres is too much LOL!
Ok! i will check with Alina on this, thanks!

Yep i will be doing the solemnisation on the same day, she mention about the function room opp the ballroom for that.
