Hi everyone, I'm just wondering if anyone separate the customary and the banquet into 2 dates? I may need to hold for 2 days, customary on Sat and banquet on Sunday nx year. Thanks for the advise!

Jia-Joey> Yes I have heard or seen such cases before AD on 2 days... as what you haven mention. But you need to check with you bridal shop what are the extra cost for renting the wedding gown out for 2 days.

Hi Joey, I'm also having my tea ceremony and banquet on 2 seprate days. One on the 12th nov and the other one is 1 week away on the 22nd nov. I admit it is pretty troublesome in terms of the planning of some logistics and manpower. So I gave up on the manpower - eg saving trouble by not having it compulsory for gate crashing. But for bridal cars etc you may need to rent one with decor since now it is a separate day affair =( plus the make ups too .... for photography, there are also extra costings for separate days. so you might want to consider simplifying one of the event so you won't end up paying a LOT more.

Hi Chrisitne, now we are still trying to convince my fil to let us choose the date we want, i still prefer to have it all in our one day. Have spoke to my mum and sis abt it yesterday, and jus realised none of my sisters had their AD date selected by fengshui master. Moreover, we don't even believe in it, we did it as my fil want us to go to any fengshui guy to get the date. Really vexed, had so many argument with my FH abt this.
=(

Jia-Joey> To resolve your problem:

1) Just go and get your AD done in 1 day w/o consulting the FSM
2) If you have FSM, tell him to choose your AD in a day but not split 2 days
3) Change FSM

My dad is a FSM and he give us the date in 1 day for our AD.

I decided to simplify the tea ceremony as much as possible like not having videographers etc and even jie meis and xiong dis which i treat it as the cost saving part to balance out the extra costs in the other areas. So my focus is in the banquet itself. my banquet is at Grand Shanghai and in order to screen videos, it means additional rental costs which now can be saved up on too. Luckily the highlight off the banquet at Grand Shanghai is that they provide live bands with a singer singing oldies which really brings out the vintage theme I have for my wedding.

But think the first person u need to make sure that is in line wiht your thinking will be your husband and after that get him to convince his paents and not you in case relationships gets nasty.

Inmy case it happens that it is my mum who is more particular about dates and even want to push it till 2010. But i dont like to give in to pple because the money spent belongs to the couple not the parents so i told her, yes we can push back tea ceremony but we wil not have banquet as i m only free to get married on school holis. think got her scared a little and she change her mine that this yr is ok. ifthe additional cost is too much , show the additional costings to ur in laws and made them see the problem. they dont feel the pinch because we are the ones paying.

Hi jia-joey, mine is on separate dates - tea ceremony on one day and wedding banduet on the following week. It is indeed more troublesome but no choice.

U can discuss with ur bridal shop to see if u could loan the gowns on the 2 occasions and request them to waive the dry-cleaning fees. U can try simplifying the tea ceremony as it will be a short one and not as grand as banquet.

Hi jia-joey,

I'm going to have my AD on 2 days on the same weekend in June2010, Sat for Solemnisation and Banquet on Sun. Actually I proposed that to my fiance and he's okay with it..
because I feel doing everything in 1 day is very tiring and might miss the moment of your lifetime..

That's my personal opinion, but of course will cost more with the photographer and videographer..

jia-joey - i'm holding on 2 consecutive days too! Sat & Sun. that's just because I cldnt get the hotel for Sat... extra cost for MUA, Photographer... no wedding car on Sun

hi gals, I need some opinion here.

Do you do your tea ceremony together with the ROM day? I am having a problem with the venue as well. So is thinking to split them, to do ROM first with tea ceremony and just dinner a week later. Any advice?

Hi ladies,

I am so relieved to find out that there are many who hold their AD over 2 days, which is what I intend to do.

Slightly different in my case as the Sat will be ROM, tea ceremony and luncheon for family and Sunday is solely luncheon for friends & colleagues.

Reason for such an arrangement is because the venue/room we like is too small to accommodate everyone (total 150, 160 pax). I suppose we have to sacrifice some things (additional cost for PG & MUA, hassle in planning & coordination etc) in order to stick with the venue we like so much.

Pearlin - I will be having the tea ceremony on the same day as ROM..makes things easier too as ROM is a short and simple 15/20 mins affair. Your banquet is only a wk away; there shld be no issue with having ROM and tea ceremony on the same day.

Yes my solemnisation and AD is also over 2 consecutive days.

For my case, I have to top up $100 each for the makeup artist, photographer and videographers.

hi girls i also did tea ceremony+ROM on one day first and banquet on the next day. and it was so much easier because we didn't have to rush through everything!

I am so in the same dilemma with joey04.

Stuck between convenience and the needs of not having to rush everything within 1 day.

Hi Janice, I don't think I will be preparing additional ang bao for my PG, VG and MUA for my 2 separate wedding days.. Cause it's included in their package already.. PG & MUA is $150 each and VG is $100 each for the separate day surchage.. Maybe just give a small token at the end of the second day? =)
