Am really keen to have a traditional 1st dance during our Banquet dinner but exactly blessed with fantastic dancing skills. Maybe a slow dance would be good. Anyone has done it or has any good suggestion on how to go about it, or places where we can learn a chorographed dance for our special night. Thanks alot! =)

Hi Sillyg00se,

I'd love to do that but my fiance is most likely to say no. Sighz.. anyway, I think you can enquire with Jitterbugs @ Millenia Walk. They hv all sorts of dance classes... perhaps they can customise something for you? http://www.jitterbugs.com/

Hope this is not too late.

slow waltz will be good. I am planning to do slow waltz on my wedding in dec 2009.
I am currently taking lessons at Shawn and Gladys Danceworld. They have both group and private lessons.

Mine is charging me $50 for 1 session of 1hr. They charge me this price cos i've learnt from them before.

If its just a short dance, i think u shld be able to pick up within 5 lessons the most.

Hi, i am taking group lessons of 4 with another couple. Target to start in Sep. will check the rate and let u know again. Group lessons of about 10 couples to know the basic of waltz is $120 per person for 8 lessons.
For a good routine and enough polishing on the steps, it will be good to start preparing 6 months before the wedding.

Anyone else also taking lessons? I am also interested in joining in to pick up for my wedding in Jan '09 if it is not too ex.

My fiance and I have been learning waltz lessons from John and Josephine. Because our wedding is only in November next year, so we're taking the group classes and it's been great so far. The instructors are patient and revise with us frequently. Class also not too big so they can still give one-on-one attention to "slower" couples if need be.

I know that they conduct private lessons too

Hi,

I have taken ballroom beginner class at shawn n gladys, $120 for 8 lesson. Think we might need to take private class after that. The class is fun, but not easy... already 2 adys, my front thigh still aching....

i had done a Salsa Dance with My Hubby on our Wedding Night in Jan 09

i am glad i did it... initially i still thought of cancelling this item from the wedding dinner programme list... But i am really glad i didn't cancel... because it is really a romantic and unforgettable experience..... we felt overwhelmed when the guests kept cheering for us.... and some said the dance left a deep impression in them...

i would have been so so so regret if i didn't do the dance

Dear ah mai hui(lettingo),(hehe...saw you in the Hainanese brides thread.)

Can I ask where did you learn salsa? Was it a 1-to-1 or group? How long did it take you to learn?

BTW, welcome any other brides to share your experiences with me...Thanks!

hui (lettingo): Pm you on your wedding dance. Hope to hear from you. I am doing salsa or latin chacha during my wedding and need some logistics advice!

hi nb ah mai!!!!!! you also in the thread.... glad to see a hainanese here...!!!! I learnt salsa for 3 years... in COmmunity Centre... after that i joined a performance team, however, i quitted because can't commit....

Jane.... i think there is something wrong with my PM... hahaha i didn't see your PM...
We started our dance halfway during the march in...so as to surprise the guests... they were rather surprised... I had my wedding in a lounge, the ground was marble flooring or sort... so it was very easy to dance.... How about you Jane?

hui (lettingo): I am having my wedding banquet at Hilton and trying to arrange with the coordinator on the flooring. During 2nd march in, intending to march in followed by salsa/latin chacha. If not, then we are thinking of waltz-ing in then do a latin number on the florring. Currently is carpet!

Jane..... wow hilton, nice hotel...
i dunno about waltz because never learn before... but it is quite graceful dance...
the reason why i salsa on my wedding is because Salsa was the first dance my hubby and I learnt together...

but carpet flooring... not sure too.. because i didn't dance on carpet flooring before... but i reckon its not easy??

hui (lettingo): I spoke to my Hilton coordinator. Think no red carpet for me. Intend to have laminated flooring so we can dance!

blurgal88: You can buy dance heels, depending on what dance you are doing. If doing ballroom dance like Waltz, can get ballroom heels. If doing latin dance like ChaCha or Rhumba, can get latin heels. Maybe 2 inch high can already.

hi hi..we are also dancin and looking for dance instructor. my FH is very busy. He told me as little time to go down to learn as possible.

i was a dancer, so there won't be any problem catching up and practising with him.

only problem is... any recommendation on where we can learn dance... private lesson, not expensive and can learn within as little time as possible? haha..

we are thinking of slow waltz.

my gown is kinda' long.. i wonder if that would be ok. My heels are also open back... oops.. haha..

For my Salsa dance, We Chreography our own Routine.. Was a Short one... and we continued as Casual dancing when the Music was still going on

have you learnt Waltz before?
Why not you chreograph your own too since you were also a dancer....
like that you could save money too ! Cheers ~~~

haha.. i can't! i've never waltz before.. ballet yes! haha...

i thought of choreographing our own before. but .. i am not confiednt of ballroom dancing..

i like what you did.. the casual dancing when the music goes on.. but did your other guests dance too?

i think mine's going to be tough. so, we are just doing our dance as a surprise element for our guests.

My salsa dance was also a Surprise for the Guests...

What i meant was.... We merely choreograph the Starting part of the Music... After tat, for the rest of the Music, we just Impromptu Casual dance on our Own..... still a performance, but probably guests didn't know we were just doing impromptu dance at the second part of the Music

my bro wedding was approaching.. and we found leonard from weddingdancesingapore to coach us (the families member) some basic dance steps to enable us to dance on the dance floor without embrassing ourself.

He is very patience and friendly guys. within the 2 hours, we learn the basic steps for foxtrot and salsa.. but ofcos, to perfect it is more practice..stronly recommended.

i'm also going to engage leonard to be my dance instructor for my wedding since he's able to come over to our place to teach us.

It's much more convenient as compared to going over to other dance studios.

hello everyone!

i am planning my wedding too and am considering doing a dance for my guests.

Just a silly question, will the moves be very constrain cos the gown will be very tight? i'm afraid i burst the gown then it will be super embarassing!

kmyl

Hi!
We are dancing during on Wedding Night too!! :D Both Ballroom and Latin!

Pinkpiglet : It depends on which dance you are going to dance..
For ballroom, like waltz or viennese waltz, a ballgown is fine :D
If it's latin, rumba or samba - the gown usually should be light, stretchable like evening gown..

By the way,

I have a French Bridal Full Package to let go.Package includes Free AD Photographer.
This package is open for 5 years starting from July 2010 and worth $3688.00.

Have negotiated for a lot of extra stuff like more page/poses for album, Thank-you cards, ROM, AD photographer,Arcylic Crystal Cover for Album and many more ..

Our budget is tight therefore we have to let go this package.
Letting go at a special discounted rate, price negotiable.

Please email [email protected] for full package details. !
