Hi Nellie,

I been there before. Their ambience is super romantic and their food is so so delicious. Service is good too. Thumbs up!!!! I having my rom there on this coming dec
happy.gif

By the way, they have function rooms upstairs but is not under 1827. They charge 1.6k - 2.4k for 4hrs, depends on which room you are taking. The price also exclude chairs, tables and food menus and we also have to get our own florist to do the deco.

But the restaurant is already very pretty to have our rom there unless you find their place is abit small. You intend to have your rom at 1827 too?

Hi Eunice,

I'll be holding my solemnization at The Chamber (Arts House).

1827 is their inhouse caterer so I'm asking around if anyone had used their catering b4.

Is your contact person : Evelyn? She's a very nice girl.

However, I'll be getting my own caterer as my parents & in-laws do not like their catering menu.

Hi Nellie,

Ya my contact person is Evelyn. Actually i did thought of using their Living Room but too ex already and still need to rent chairs and tables from them so i drop that idea off and have my rom within their restaurant.

Actually their food is very nice, i brought my gf along for food tasting, i can say their food is really super delicious.

When is your rom?

Hi Eunice,

I'm having my AD on 28th mar 2007.

How abt you?

Already confirm using the Chamber & the Blue Room. Will be getting my own caterer.

Evelyn is really a nice girl. She can see to all your needs on your ROM. Too bad, i won't be using them as my caterer.

Hi Nellie,

I having my rom this coming 15th dec.

How much are you paying for both Chamber and the Blue Room? They cost 2.2k for 4 hrs right? Then how abt rental of chairs and tables?

That time i did ask Evelyn if i can have my solemnisation at the Lounge for like half an hr but she told me that the Arts House people still need to charge me 1.2k....thats why i decided to have everything within their restaurant. But i afraid that the restaurant is too small to cater my guests as i will be having 75 guests.

Hi Eunice,

yes, it's 2.2k. haven't confirmed the tables & chairs yet. think it's $30 for table & $6 for chair.

I have abt 100 guests.

have u you check with Evelyn whether 1827 can accomodate 75pax? If yes, then you shouldn't worry much lah, she'll make sure everything is ok.

Hi All,

I am searching for a ROM place suitable for 30pax.. will the Art house be suitable? Any quotation to share? (,")

Hi meizhen,

Arts house definitely is suitable for 30 pax but it doesnt include catering. They only rent out their function room for you which ranges from 1.8k to 2.2k and it also excluding the rental for chairs and tables. But you still can check with both Arts house and the catering service and work out your budget. Hope it helps.

Hi bini,

Evelyn has left Thai 1827, you can look for Pudy. Shes the one replacing Evelyn. Everything abt Thai 1827 is great. Thumbs up for their food and ambience. They do both buffet and course menu style and do provide complimentry for food tasting. In order to have your wedding hold within the restaurant, you must spend at least $2.5k on weekdays (Mon to Thurs) and $3.5k (Fri to Sun), think thats the figure if i can remember correctly.
You can drop by their place or make an appointment with them and talk to them. Pudy is a nice person. But my coordinator is Lynn. You can get their contact from their webby. Hope it helps.

Jasmine, u can surf arts house website for wedding bundle package. My hubby and I booked their Chamber + Blue Rm package for 3k plus. We also had our luncheon there with 1827 (superb food!). It really depends on how many course meals you planning to have and no. of pax (Blue Rm accomodates 100pax max.) Talk to Prudy and discuss with her. They are quite accommodating (caters to our vegetarian luncheon request too!).

hi choochootrain,

can you share with me how was the flow of your wedding? Means you had your solemnization at the chamber then lunch at the blue room? can you pls also send me some of your pictures? Thanks! soapwater @ g m a i l . c o m

Hi Bini! yeah, we had solemnization at Chamber Rm, followed by photography session with all the guests cum Tea reception in the same room, then proceed to luncheon at Blue Rm. The ambience at both rooms were great. Food was excellent.

The only thing was that due to unexpected (actually should be expected, it's just that b4hand you would not know exactly how many extra guests will turn up) extra guests, there was some delay in seating arrangement and therefore starting of lunch. Luckily we played music in Blue Rm so at least not so awkward for the waiting guests. I do not have many pics in Blue Roon but will send you the link to my AD pics. :)

choochootrain, thanks!

i went down to arts house today and met up with prudy from 1827thai. She's very nice and showed me around. The rooms are lovely. As you said too, im looking at the number of guests to plan which rooms to take. Im considering dining at the restaurant itself.

yeah why not? I think it'll be a great idea. Their restaurant's setting is very nice too. And you'll save on the rental of Blue Room too, isn't it? :)

Hi bini,

I had my solemnisation at the restaurant itself last dec. Good feedback from all my guests such as delicious food, nice settings, good ambience and good services. They include almost everything like flower centre piece for every table, table cloth and chair sashes for solemnisation table and chairs and got food tasting too. No regrets if you have your wedding there and they even help you to plan for your big day and save money. Thumbs up for 1827thai =)

Hi gals,
I am interested in booking art house for my wedding next year. I plan to hold my solomnisation and a 4 course wedding dinner at restaurant 1827. As i have about 20 tables, i am planning to build a marquee to extend from the restaurant to the outside area to have an alfresco touch!! Pretty exciting.. I am in the process of negotiating, can those couples who held their rom or wedding at art house give me some tips??
I personally ate dinner at 1827, i would say the food is really nice, though i worried that the quantity seems to be quite small as it is more of a fine dinning kind of concept.
Overall, the coordinator, Lynne is extremely helpful and pleasant to work with
happy.gif

Also, can i find out from those holding wedding or rom there, is it true that your guest will give only half the hongbaos compared to hotel? sounds scary.. hehehehe..

Hi Ashley, not too big a prob i think. Since its only for 14 pax, i wld think u r gg for sit down dining instead of buffet ya?
U shld call them up for quote. Cos if i did not remember wrongly, the quote is ard yr budget or above $60 per pax.

To all that's considering 1827, I would say no regrets at all. I had my wedding dinner there, 100 pax (for 80 close friends & immd family members only). unfortunately 2 tables are outside of the restaurant due to space constraint inside. But in overall food was great and I had the fine dining style instead of buffet. It was a nice & cosy time with my friends i wld say. Go for it.

Hi ladies,

Me and my future hubby are considering having our wedding ceremony at the Chamber followed by reception at the Blue Room. However before I meet up with my coordinator to finalise the details, I have a few concerns and would really appreciate if anyone can help

1) Could anyone comment on their in-house caterers, Restaurant 1827 and Viet Lang? How's the food? Do they help you to arrange the chairs and tables, do up the decoration, what about flowers, etc? My grandparents-in-law are traditional cantonese and they might not be used to thai food since it tends to be spicier and the taste stronger. I was told by the coordinator that there's an extra charge of $800 if we wanna engage an outside caterer. I would really like to get 1827 to cater after reading all the good reviews about them. Wondering if they can change the menu a little to suit the 2 old folks. Fusion food is always a bit trickier with the elderlies. So I can't decide. Should I just pay the 800 extra and engage an outside caterer? But who?

2)Any good caterers to recommend if I really can't choose their in-house caterers?

3)Do you get florist to decorate the Chamber as well as the Blue Room? Any idea how much the flowers will cost for the decoration of both rooms?

Thanks so much!!

Hi slumber_bee! Hubby and I used Restaurant 1827 and they did help us with arrangement of tables and chairs and provided table top flowers. We were worried about food also because we are vegetarians. Prudy and their chef helped us a lot with the menu and tried to cater to our needs completely.

They even obliged to our request of changing a few spicy soup to non-spicy ones for a couple of our guests and also have a separate menu for one of my guests who has a lot of food allergies.

I would suggest that you have a talk to the restaurant first and ask whether they can accede to your request before you make decision.

thanks for the advice! really appreciate it!

I was told by my coordinator to contact Lynne as I believe that Prudy has left. I wonder if Lynne will be as helpful as Prudy. Well i will keep my fingers crossed for that! Btw, how much did it set you back for your lunch reception? Their prices start from how much per head? Any idea? I have yet to meet up with them as well as to look at their menu. Thanks once again!!

the amt per pax will depend on the number of dishes/course you want. If you are having reception at the other rooms of Arts House (and not at the restaurant itself), there are also rental charges for tables and chairs. I roughly remember the cost per pax for mine (including tables and chairs and all taxes) came up to around $70+.

ic... thanks choochootrain! I will contact Lynne today and take a look at the menu. Btw, did you get florist to decorate the chamber AND the Blue room? Or the caterer, 1827, will provide some flowers for the Blue Room? Since you had your reception there, do u think it's necessary to get the florist to decorate the Blue Room? And do you know how much it will roughly cost to decorate the Chamber and Blue Room with flowers? I plan to call a few florists to ask them if they had done the Chamber before. But at the same time I think nothing beats asking the info from someone who's held her wedding there before!! thanks

1827 provided us tabletop flowers for the Blue Room. We did not do much decor to the Blue Room cos we find it quite nice already. As for the Chamber Room, I roped in my friends to help me with decor. I do not know how much florists charge with venue decor but my guess is they'll ask you for your budget first. Small budget=less flowers, big budget=more flowers. :=)

thanks choochootrain once again! haha i asked so many questions and yet each time u are so kind to answer my queries.

yah i am certain that if we are willing to splurge we can get more flowers. but i just like to find out what's the amount that pple usually spend on flowers for venue and how much is a lot. haha... u know wat i mean? i am not sure if $2000 is too little. I believe the choice of flowers also make a HUGE difference. Seasonal blooms although can be cheaper but sometimes certain flowers like rananculus, although is seasonal can be very ex! not sure if I wanna spend so much on something like flowers... haha wat do u suggest?

i think the amt one is willing to spend on wedding decor is really up to individual preferences. For me, i wasn't very keen to spend a lot on flowers for venue decor, so i chose a place that i think looks very nice by itself (Arts House). However, the Chamber Room can look sombre if undecorated, so try to use lighter, brighter flowers. To cut cost, you can also use balloons. I think a few hundred dollars (abt $500) on venue decor is reasonable. If your budget is $2000, then wow! you can really do a lot.

if you are talking about Chamber Room, i think orchids will look very nice. :) and orchids are quite cheap and lasting. i'm not familiar with rananculus.

If you are thinking of venue decor DIY (you must make sure you got good helpers first!) you can check out some nursery which might have discounts on certain days. i know Ji Mei has discounts on fresh cut flowers Mon-Thur evenings 6-7pm or 7-8 pm.

Hi choochootrain,
thanks so much for your suggestions. I decided to set aside a budget of $2000 cos I heard from my friends who had gotten married that it's really the minimal amount. Now after what you have suggested, I think I will try to DIY if possible. Afterall there's no point in spending so much on venue decor. Nobody's gonna remember it anyway. haha... Thanks so much once again!! You've been a great help!

Btw, may I know where is this Ji Mei nursery located? Thanks!

hi choochootrain,

do you remember the cost to rent each table if i hold my solemnization at the blue room? i know each chair rental is 6 dollars. Thanks!

hi choochootrain,

Sorry for the late reply. Had been busy with work. thanks for taking your time out to help! I think the nursery next to them is FarEast Flora ya? If it is then I think you are right. They provide venue deco. I also checked out Greenpoint. They have quite a nice package. Thanks again!

Hi Choochootrain/Slumber_bee,

I'll be having my AD at The Chamber and The Blue Room next March. Do you have any pics of ur deco of the place to share? Can PM me? I am not sure if I want to use 1827's catering or use external....I am also worried that the elderly wont like the food and portions are small?

Hello everyone!! glad to see that 1827 being so well received by so many!! i wud say that they are very accomodating and will definitely try their best to suit every couples requirement..and the Arts House is also getting popular among wedding couples!! but i wud definitely advise couples to get their in-house catering instead of external coz 1827 kitchen is just within the building which makes it easier if there are any last minute special food requirement or extra guests. u wun 1 2 go crazy on ur special day if the external caterer are not able to cater to your needs!!

hi 8bride8,
sorry for not replying till now. I seldom check this thread. Anyhow, my wedding is in Nov so I do not have deco of the venue to show u. U can call my coordinator, Cheryl at 63326901 to take a look at the venue. You can easily find pics of real weddings at The Chamber and The Blue Room online. If not can always ask the coordinator to show u some sampler pics.

we would like to share our own personal experience which I had at 1827 restaurant at THE ART HOUSE.
Me and my wife felt that we had really make a wise choice, if not the best choice in deciding to hold our ceremony at this place.
The ambience was very nice, cosy, theme colour :black and red. Picture paints a thousand words, take a look at www.1827thai.com.sg.
The organizer of our event was Ms Lynn Kok, one of the most wonderful coordinator we have ever met (after combing thru almost 8potiential places in sg). She was very accommodating and helpful. Very detailed as she was, she also provided many suggestions and recommendations in the décor and things to prepare.
On the whole, patience was the word I have for her. I am a very fussy person and always call her once a while to check on something. She never grumbled and was able to extend her help in whatever way.
She don’t press me for a high end event, instead, she is able to work on the budget that I set for her to propose. She is very patient and I felt bad in a way as me and my wife were always constantly changing our mind, on the number of guests, food menu, etc.
Despite all the hassles, she is able to amend to our needs ,willingly and happily. She takes the whole event as if I m marrying her….hahaa…
Trust this gal as she is very responsible, whatever things she promised you, rest assure that you can entrust on her.
Talking about the food, she even arrange a food tasting for 4. And from there, we can actually taste what our guests will be eating on the actual day. And I must say that the quality of food is still there even its kinda a ‘ mass production†(BUFFET)! Try the curry duck A MUST!!!!
ïŠ

All of our guests were actually impressed by the ambience and the food, as this place is not really that talk about in town.
We spent about 3700, but most of our friends reviewed that the whole event was quite GRAND! We were so happy to hear that as our original plan was to keep it a small but presentable one
After the whole event, good memories of OUR BIG DAY still lingers on, and its reali nice to look back on the DAY
. Just to share with you couples out there and may u have a happy and memorable big day! Cheerios!!!!
