Chinese wedding traditions

Hi All,

I am hoping to seek some advice. My fiancé and I are getting married in Nov and he is Australian while I'm Singaporean Chinese. The expectation from my mum is for us to go through the Chinese tradition of him "fetching the bride" and then coming back to my parents' place as a couple after. I know that's the norm. However, just wondering if married/to be married couples follow a specific time for the above?

I have timings given to me to "fetch bride" and "return home" but the times seem impractical and doesn't leave room for other things we would like to do which is having our wedding photos taken as we are not doing a pre-wedding shoot.

Has anyone not followed a prescribed time for the customary rituals?

Thanks in advance!

I will not be following the timing for fetching and leaving house. As im doing a lunch, it will be very rush and not enough time to settle down for first march in if i follow the timing.

We have done such wedding before (ie. Groom = Australian, Bride = Singaporean). Would advise to be practical when planning your actual day schedule, speak to your parents and explain to them the complexity that may arise due to the strict timings. The success of a marriage is based on good communication and mutual respect, and has nothing to do with which animal sign or which timing is auspicious etc. Therefore, don't worry, talk to your parents and see what can be compromised and what can't. At the end of the day, you would want to be 'stress-free' on your wedding day, only then you will look good and all your photos/video will look great.
