Hi everyone

We did a soft booking with nativity in Apr 2016 alr, but the secretariat said we do not need to pay any deposit to secure the slot. This is rather unsettling for me. Any nativity BTBs around who can share if this is the common practice pls?

Also, i have a few questions which i am hoping that someone can help me with...

Church decor:
1. Wondering if there will be sufficient time to remove/ put up the decor inside the church if there will be another couple in the earlier timeslot. BC that will leave me with only ~30 min to remove and put up my decor?
Did anyone use their own decor or eeryone just engaged the church florist to do so?

2. What if the floral arrangement at the altar doesn't match my overall floral arrangement and theme (yes im a bit superficial >.<)

Ceremony:
3. I am planning to do my own slides, but i am not sure what will be the content. Where can i get a standard template of the readings/ vows etc so that i can edit and customise the slides pls?

Misc/ logistics:
4. They mentioned that there will be costs if i engage the nativity choir. If so, do we still need to give each choir member an ang pow? If yes, what is the market rate to do so?

5. Is it compulsory for the flower girls to be dressed in white? Also, can the bride's gown have a tinge of other colours or must it be pure white? For example, a big pink flowy ribbon tied across to the back of the gown.

Seeking advice on all questions above...
Thanks a lot in advance!
Hi how was your wedding! Congratulations ! I'll be a nativity bride in dec! Can share some tips?

Hi everybody! I'm new here! Want to seek some advice. Anyone had their weddings or attended weddings at St Peter and paul or St Francis of assisi? Would like to ask about the cost of floral decoration and engagement of the choir:/ Thank you so much in advance!

I've booked SFX too! But I haven't finalized the priest.
Hi! I'm new here and will be having our wedding at SFX on Jan 2017. I'm currently looking for a florist to decorate the church.
May I know if your engaging the church florist? or you have your own florist to do it?

Thanks :)

I went to the parish office but secretary asked me to email him instead.
Reason is that, new Organizer not out yet.
He cannot write down

Hi Blubelle

Sorry i didn't seem to get any notifications so I didn't notice your post.

I think rehearsals are important! I only did a PPT slide test and audio test for the songs i have chosen but on hindsight, I should have done the full suite rehearsal to practise walking down the aisle.
We only did that for the kids and not my dad so he was a little nervous on the actual day and didn't know what to do lol.

If you haven't place the deposit for the booking, I would advise you to do so asap. I have actually made a soft booking of the canteen (both Casa Maria and St Joseph's Pavillion) but there was a mis-comm and I only managed to book Casa Maria in the end.
I was pretty lucky cause the Pavillion was suddenly available on the actual day so my guests had enough seats!

I did the deco of the canteen the evening before so that my XDJMs will be able to concentrate on the schedule and other stuff on the actual day. Also made my own pew bows and got some help from friends to deco the church itself right after the 9am wedding!

All in all, everything kinda worked out on its own... PTL :D

If any of you are interested, we managed to get General Audience tickets as Sposi Novelli to meet the Pope during our honeymoon for wedding blessings.
You may want to read more about the application process here on my blog: http://littlelilround.blogspot.sg/2016/11/vatican-sposi-novelli-meet-the-pope.html

Will post more updates on the actual collection of tickets and share my experience soon :)

Hope this helps more couples as we thought it was a very wonderful experience!

Hi, I booked mine about > 12 months in advance. My advice is to call them - sometimes the secretary doesn't check their email so diligently or may miss your email.

I got mine from the keyboardist/choirmaster. He has a template that he sends to couples for them to choose their readings/hymns.

Just to check, does anyone have a good church decorations florist to recommend?
The church that I'm holding doesn't have a "proper" florist.
And they don't have like sample for us to see.
Don't sound very legit to us.
So looking for external florist to do it.

Hi! I also need to find florist for my church.. which church u held your wedding?

Hey girls,

85 flowers is great.. They quoted a lower quote than what the church florist offered.
I used them for mine at Holy Family in the end.
You might want to consider them. I managed to get them to do the flowers at at altar and pews, plus a bouquet for consecration to Mother Mary.

God Bless for the prep!

Hi everyone, I'm Clare, my parish is Risen Christ and that of my HTB is from Holy Family. However we're (more of myself lol) intending to have the mass at the more centralised location of St Peter & Paul. He has a stronger opinion about which priest does the wedding mass though. Our shortlisted choices are Fr Erbin Fernandez, , Fr Luke Fong, Fr Michael Sitaram, Fr Benedict Chng, Fr Patrick Goh or Fr Michael Teo (yes we have some quirky choices).
We had dropped the SPP office an email to ask for the dates in Q4 2018 or Q1 2017. The SPP office staff have said that it seems alright for now, but they need ask to confirm the priest's schedule first. We are still waiting for Fr Erbin to get back to us before we decide to contact the other priests. We're hoping to attend the Q1 2018 MPC.
How does the pacing for the planning seem to you all so far?

Hi Piya. Do we have to complete MPC first before we finally book with SPP? Or can we book the wedding mass date at SPP first, then sign up for MPC?

Hey everyone, I may need a bit of advice. I've confirmed both the priest and MPC schedule. However now I have an issue with venue. HTB and me came up with a rough guestlist, amounting to about 210pax. We realised that the SPP reception area is a bit too small for that. Any other alternatives you may recommend for that reception size?
I know that definitely people will recommend SFX, Theresa and St Mary of the Angels. Any others?

Hi all, just a question. What all do we need to do or gather if we're doing our solemnization in church? So far I know we have to go through an interview with the priest and get the baptismal extract. Have names and if numbers of witnesses. Filing to ROM needs to be done too. Anything else? What is the procedure for filing etc with ROM? Sorry quite lost here. Thanks a lot

This link should help guide you along from a layman perspective about what is required. In addition to the steps, it is important to continue praying and keeping God at the center of all the marriage especially during preparation. Have a blissful and blessed wedding & marriage. God bless :)

Hi everyone, Bad news for me so far as I've come into a few obstacles for wedding planning. Firstly, we cannot have it at SPP, as the SPP reception can only take up to 100 pax, and we have a guestlist of 200. We have tried SFX and Nativity, but to our horror, both are undergoing renovation works next year and have declined our requests. I'm thinking of having it at Sacrament, but from my past experience attending mass there, their aircon doesn't seem to work properly. Anyone who has had experience having their wedding at Sacrament, or has attended wedding masses at Sacrament, who is able to verify with me the experiences?

Hi, I'm a catholic while my fiance is not..just wondering if there are any small beautiful chapels where I can host my wedding.... I'm afraid that the usual Main Churches are too big for our wedding as only my maternal side of my family are Catholics :( any advice appreciated :) thank u!

Hi Chubbs, you requirements are the exact opposite of mine, for me I need a bigger reception instead.
No worries, there are actually plenty of chapels that take in small size weddings, with great location and look beautiful.

The newly done up Cathedral of the Good Shepherd is one of them. Their size for the reception is limited to 70 pax. Note though they are quite restrictive about the wedding dates (1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month, at 10am). Also they place very strict restrictions on the caterer to use for the reception as well as the flower decoration suppliers

Another one, Church of the Sacred Heart is not bad too, their size is around 150, and they're also centralised in location between Liang Court and Somerset/Dhoby Ghaut.

The last one I'd recommend would be Church of St Peter & Paul near the Bras Basah side . Also small size reception to hold about 120 pax. You can email them at [email protected]
I've dealt with their church admin before when considering it for the venue of my wedding. Jannie is quite nice.

Hi, I'm an SPP btb as well and we went down last weekend to recce since there was a wedding going on.. Found out that they had a 300-400 pax reception, so they booked the SPP reception area AND Crossings Cafe.

Crossings Cafe is just next door at the Catholic Centre and they can set up the meeting/event spaces on the second and third floor for reception in addition to their main cafe area. Place is pretty accessible with two lifts (and fully air-conditioned), and the reception looked good! Not to mention that the cafe is a social enterprise too. We are probably going to do something similar. Hope that helps :)

No problem! We had a similar headache because our guestlist is over a hundred and we were worried about fitting everyone into the reception area for lunch.. Good thing we had plans near SPP and managed to sneak a peek at the other couple's reception setup (they had little A4 signs directing guests to the Crossings-side reception) while the ceremony was going on, haha. Hope your planning goes well!
