och, yeah.. the homeless problem in SF is terrible compared to most parts of the US. Hardly see any homeless people in New England and have not seen a single one in TX so far. I think its the weather too. They will shiver to death in New England, and suffer from heatstroke in TX. SF is more "...

Sorry, if flying SQ direct, it's Newark in NJ.

Since the subway doesn't run till very late, I suggest staying in Manhattan itself. At least you will still be able to get back ( by walking) to your hotel after a late night out. Alternatively, you can stay in NJ esp if you are taking SQ direct to La Guardia airport. Train to Manhattan downtown...

Yeah, domestic flights are always overbooked, so the best is to check in as early as you can either online, or go to the airport early. Irene, SF is very accessible, so you only need a car when you intend to get out of the city eg Napa, Monterey, and even those, you can join a tour if you...

weoseek, depending on what shows you watch in LV, certain shows you have to dress quite well. no, it's not that hot in LV in sep. I remember the weather was pretty close to singapore's weather last sep. Bellagio buffet is great. Quite ex, but well worth it. We actually wanted to eat...

weoseek, you can buy a day pass for the bus in LV. I think it's US$2 for the whole day unlimited. That will save you time and energy. I walked the entire strip the last time, from Circus Circus till my hotel at Luxor, nearly died. Don't think 1 day is sufficient to cover all or even most of the...

weoseek, there is not much to do/ see in austin, and i wouldn't recommend visiting unless you are in the area. However, San Antonio is a really nice city to visit. Lots to see and do there. It is approx a 2 hr drive from Austin. You can also go to San Marcos( midway from austin to san antonio)...

Kean, Nope, no signs along the way to inform of road closure. You drive until you see you can't go on ahead. Tsk tsk! CY, Outlet malls sell authentic stuff. Most of the items are old season, but I have also seen current season items there too. There are also stores that sell branded stuff...

blue ginger, the road is supposed to be open sometime in sep. your best bet would be to check with the car rental company when you pick up your car in SF. Anyway, if the road is still closed then, not a problem too. Just got to get back on US-280 to hit US-92 and then Rte 1. Very easy.

Hi Kean, Nope, dun think the road closure is on any website. I just got back from SF and Monterey, so I found out about it. Had to do a slight detour.

You can see sealions from Monterey. They rest on the little "piers" right in front of the restaurants. You might want to have dinner at the Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey.

Hi Blue Ginger, parts of highway 1- pacifica from SF to Monterey is closed till most likely sep/oct. You'd have to make a detour to US-92 and then get onto rte-1 from there. If you're going that way, ask more locals for advice again, because some locals are not aware of the road closure.
