Yes, as the bridal shops think they have like a 'sales target' commission? Ala-carte think mostly no hidden costs or at least less. My fiancé and I decided to all go ala-carte except for banquet will go for hotel instead of venue as catering I think will be huge headache if it is location.

Hi! Congrats to you too! Yeah from what I gathered from my married friends, at these shows they just try to sign you up. Sometimes not much discounts too and then heard so many scary stories of how they don't deliver what they 'verbally' promised you over at the shows.
