Keeping things simple and close to their hearts, their wedding was a humble celebration of their union, family and friends on 23 June 2012. Now, if you truly want a standout wedding that is beautiful and meaningful, take a leaf out of this couple\u2019s book and go simple for your big day. You\u2019d be surprised how beautiful simplicity can be.<\/p><div class=\"banner\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\">OA_show(5);<\/script><\/div><p><b><b>How did the two of you meet?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Kok Leong:<\/i> I met Michelle at a mutual friend\u2019s birthday celebration in 2010. We didn\u2019t talk much during the gathering as we were sitting quite far apart. I only got to know her better on Facebook after I commented on one of her photographs taken in Las Vegas, where we went for our honeymoon this year.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"1\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/1-e1370506131132.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"2\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/2-e1370506138479.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"3\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/3-e1370506146191.jpg\"\/><p><b><b>What was the proposal like?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Michelle:<\/i> Kok Leong picked me up from work and brought me to a suite in Ritz Carlton instead of taking me home. Before I could figure out what was happening, he went down on one knee and proposed just minutes before I turned 26.<\/p><p><b><b>Walk us through the planning for your wedding.<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Michelle:<\/i> We started our wedding planning early to ensure that everything would be in place when the big day came. At first, we wanted a simple wedding, but as our preparation unfolded, there was a nostalgic and somewhat fun theme in place.<\/p><p><i>Kok Leong:<\/i> We\u2019ve always believed that our wedding is more than just the two of us; it is also a celebration of our families and friends. So we included our families in our wedding preparations by sharing our fond memories of them with all our wedding guests to add a personal touch to our big day.<\/p><p>We included a vintage bicycle in part of the video as a tribute to my father who taught me how to ride a bicycle \u2013 a particularly meaningful family moment I treasure greatly, a representation of a new journey for both of us, and to always remind us that marriage requires two persons moving in the same direction, just like the two wheels of a bicycle.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"4\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/4-e1370506026465.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"5\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/5-e1370506033424.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"7\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/7-e1370506153538.jpg\"\/><p><b><b>What was it like on the actual day of the wedding?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Michelle:<\/i> We had our gate-crashing in the morning with our sisters and brothers dressed up in Retro style. It was not the typical \u201ctekan\u201d session, but a fun and enjoyable gate-crashing for everyone involved. We had a simple solemnisation at Mandarin Oriental, Singapore just before dinner, where a handful of close relatives and friends were invited to witness our official marriage. The highlight of the night had to be when Kok Leong pushed me in on a vintage bicycle during our second march-in. Our guests were pleasantly surprised and absolutely loved it!<\/p><p><b><b>What did your family and friends have to say about your wedding?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Kok Leong:<\/i> Our guests were pleasantly surprised with our second march-in and absolutely loved it! They were also kept well entertained with our videos and the sweet speeches by our families and close friends. We also received many compliments on Mandarin Oriental, Singapore\u2019s cuisine and their immaculate service.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"6\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/6-e1370506041993.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"8\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/8-e1370506160310.jpg\"\/><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  alt=\"9\" src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/08\/9-e1370506167187.jpg\"\/><p><b><b>Were there any particular moments that were especially special to you?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Michelle:<\/i> For me, the most emotional part was when my father walked me down the aisle during the solemnisation and handed me over to Kok Leong. That was when we exchanged our vows and promised to take care of each other for the rest of our lives.<\/p><p><i>Kok Leong:<\/i> The video taking process was also memorable for us, although it was a long process. But throughout that process, we didn\u2019t feel like we were staging a performance.
