In fact, we both noticed each other more than five years ago, but we barely spoke to each other. There were probably a lot of times when we crossed paths that we did not even look at each other. Jack claims to have always been polite and exchanged glances though!<\/p><p>I had actually always thought he looked like a high profile kind of guy, so I tried to stay away from \u201ctrouble\u201d. Then one day, he enrolled in a programme at work and had to move around the various departments to observe all the scopes of work. We did not have any contact then or even see each other much throughout his weeks with my department because we were always on opposite shifts. I was on mostly night shifts and he was on morning.<\/p><p><i>Jack:<\/i> Most of the times I saw her, she would be looking her worst&#8211;makeup melted after a long, 10-hour night shift&#8211;but I think that\u2019s what made me want to ask her out. At least I knew how this girl looked at her worst! So I asked her out for a meal and I told her I would be there waiting until she turned up. She did not believe me! <\/p><p>Anyway, she did turn up but I was late and she didn\u2019t know I was there because I did not have her contact number. I apologised the next day and told her that this time I would not be late. I still did not get her number because I had faith she would turn up. She is always putting other people\u2019s interest above hers. Who actually does that?!<\/p><p><i>Jaslyn: <\/i>I always tell him I invested my time because he claimed to be a homely man, a stay-home husband-quality kind of guy. And then I felt cheated haha! I actually love that he has got the worst temper but he actually cares a lot for the people he loves; he just shows it differently. I also love the fact that he put in a lot of effort to build and maintain this relationship to what it is today.<\/p><p><b><b>What was the proposal like?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Jaslyn:<\/i> I thought the proposal was just him asking me in the bathroom when we were preparing to head out one day, \u201cDo you think we\u2019re ready to apply for a flat together? Have somewhere we both can call home?\u201d <\/p><p>About two years later, he surprised me with an official proposal on our trip to Bali. Given that both of us prefer things simple and low profile, I thought it was out of the blue when he suddenly blabbered a number of things on one of our nights\u2019 stay in the villa, talking about what we have been through. Some moments, I felt the wedding was going to be messy; it\u2019s like she wants EVERYTHING. I am the kind who believes that things will fall into place eventually when the time comes. Which they did, but it was because I have her! <\/p><p><i>Jaslyn:<\/i> Yes, we argued quite a lot over the process. He thought I wanted every Pinterest Pin so he was like, \u201cWhat do you want?!\u201d<\/p><p>We did a lot of research through SingaporeBrides, reading others\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/category\/real-weddings\/\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\">Real Wedding<\/a> interviews and trying to pick up pointers. We also had a lot of recommendations from friends and family and picked our vendors from there. <\/p><p>After saving up a lot of pictures and posts, we started to filter out what theme we preferred and picked out ideas about every small little detail in a wedding. Many of them seemed to be either really expensive to buy off the shelf or had to be shipped in. That was when we both decided we could DIY most of the ideas, since we still had about more than six months to go. We also got lots of inspiration from Pinterest on our DIYs.<\/p><p>There were a lot of roadblocks along the way, definitely, and it was not cheaper eventually. We totally had no regrets though, because all the DIYs brought both of us together a lot more, and made us learn to tolerate each other a lot more as well. It was fun albeit tiring, and the processes were precious memories. It was a pity we did not really photograph a lot of the bits and pieces. <\/p><p>We were so so thankful, even till today, for all the vendors we have met. Lucky us, we met mostly really nice, fun, and kind people, from our <a href=\"https:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/d\/shangri-la-rasa-sentosa-singapore\">Shangri-La Rasa Sentosa, Singapore<\/a> wedding coordinator, to the vendors who did our d\u00e9cor, to our wedding day photographer and videographer. Everything else was under control and even turned out better than we thought it could ever be. The heat did not even seem to really matter anymore. <\/p><p><b><b>What was the most memorable moment of your wedding?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Jack: <\/i>My most memorable moment was probably the moment when I stood at the front of the aisle waiting for her to march in. I was super nervous. When she marched in, I got tense, and took a deep breath as I could feel my tears welling up when I started to say my vows. <\/p><p><i>Jaslyn: <\/i>I was speechless, and I still could not believe the day had come for us. I had never seen this man this nervous before.<\/p><p>Another emotional moment was when we did our second march in, and we saw all our loved ones standing and waiting along the aisle for us. Seeing our friends and families looking so excited, and from the bottom of their hearts lighting up the sparklers while we walked in, along with the entire backdrop, I think that was when my tears started rolling down and ruined my makeup haha! Everything was just so perfect and beautiful.
