We were enrolled in the same management course, but as the class size was big and we had different circles of friends, we never talked to each other. Nick caught my attention in semester 2, but I am not someone who would delibrately go up to a stranger and befriend him or her, so I chose to just observe him secretly. We remained strangers throughout the whole duration of the course (1.5 years) until the very last day when Nick finally took the initiative to talk to me! We bumped into each other outside the library after our exam and had a brief, awkward conversation. <\/p><p>After I went home, it kept me thinking that we will never meet again, and I could not get over it. I told myself that since he had made the first move (sort of) to start a conversation, I should do something about it, and that was when I decided to add Nick on Facebook. From then onwards, we started chatting every day till he asked me out, and eventually we got together on 23 December 2009. After getting to know her, it was her sincerity and kindness to people that drew me, and later on, her point blank honesty and the unwavering support I need in whatever I do. <\/p><p><i>Tina: <\/i>His looks at first as well I guess&#8211;clean and fair, and the overall feel he gave me. After getting to know him better, the more I learned, the more I loved. He is the most patient, thoughtful, and supportive partner I could ever ask for. We had touched on wedding topics many times before, but we had the mutual understanding (at least, I thought so) that we needed to have a house of our own prior to holding our wedding, so I was not expecting a proposal yet.<\/p><p><i>Nick: <\/i>Even with the confidence that she would say yes, I wanted to make it memorable for the both of us. Knowing that she always wanted to walk down the aisle in a chapel, I thought it would definitely surprise her if I popped the question during our trip to Japan in April 2016, which had the perfect setting I had in mind.<\/p><p><i>Tina: <\/i>Yes, it was fairytale-like! He proposed to me in the glass chapel at Sheraton Tokyo Bay during our last stop at Disneyland. Sitting right on Tokyo Bay, the chapel was very nicely decorated with lots of rose petals and candles, and there was a soft melody in the background. It was very romantic.<\/p><p><i>Nick: <\/i>It took some planning to coordinate with the hotel staff to achieve the look and ambience. On the day, Mrs wasn\u2019t feeling 100% well and neither was the weather, which was stormy. It took us some time to check in and by the time we were done, three hours of my five-hour booking had passed. I had the staff deceive her that their chapel was open to the public, and convinced her that it was a good opportunity to take a look. <\/p><p><i>Tina:<\/i> I was not very keen as I did not want to miss the Disneyland fireworks show, but nevertheless went along wanting to get a quick glimpse of the chapel. Luckily I did!<\/p><p><i>Nick:<\/i> When we were there, we wandered about, and right in front of the altar, I had a sign placed backwards with the big question. <\/p><p><i>Tina:<\/i> I was still unaware that he had a surprise for me as all I had on my mind was fireworks, fireworks, fireworks. Only when I suggested that we should make our way to Disneyland, that he held me back, looking very serious. He continued by saying that he had booked the chapel, and only then did I realise, \u201cThe moment is here!\u201d<\/p><p><i>Nick: <\/i>Once it was obvious, I got down on one knee and muttered some words which were touching but which I don\u2019t exactly remember, and that was how I got her to officially say, \u201cYes.\u201d<\/p><p><i>Tina:<\/i> I cannot remember the contents of his speech either. I had always wanted a garden wedding. After the proposal, I started gathering inspiration on Pinterest and eventually decided on the elements for our wedding: a peach and gold colour theme, giant paper flower arch, gold tiffany chairs, an outdoor banquet under a white marquee, fairy lights and chandelier, a mix of long and round tables, peach table cloths and napkin ribbons, gold sequin table runners, plants as wedding favors, and of course, live acoustic music.  <\/p><p>At first I was unsure if all of these could be realised in Singapore, but after consulting our wedding planner, I was so glad my dream wedding look could be created. Engaging them was a wise choice as it saved us the trouble of hunting down and coordinating with the numerous vendors. It was a big thing to build an outdoor event for 200 guests from nothing. I knew I was in good hands, but I wanted to be involved throughout the whole planning and design process since it was our own wedding. I was very particular about the look and feel of the wedding, so in order to achieve that, I sourced for most of the items myself. <\/p><p>Being a hands-on bride (and to save some money), I did the video montages, and DIY-ed the giant paper flowers, napkin ribbons, and flower bouquets, with the help of our bridesmaids and groomsmen! To match our colour theme, we even painted the wedding favours and flower girl trolley cart gold. All these projects were very time consuming, but it was all worth it. It was like a dream come true to see everything I wanted in one place, surrounded by our loved ones. There was a sense of achievement seeing all the DIY crafts come together nicely at the wedding. Although I had practically been awake for 36 hours, I was too overjoyed on the day to feel the tiredness. There was this excitement and happiness in her, which at that very moment made me feel lucky to be able to see it every day for the rest of my life.<\/p><p><i>Tina:<\/i> There were many! When Nick first saw me on the wedding day, the veiling session with my parents, the bouquet throwing session with bridesmaids, the exchanging of vows, our first march in as Mr and Mrs, and the giving of appreciation flowers to our mothers and my sisters.
