You don\u2019t even have to be very good at arts and crafts to make these wonderful mementos. SingaporeBrides shows you how to Do-It-Yourself.<\/i><\/p><p><b class=\"special\">I<\/b>n an ideal situation, do-it-yourself wedding favours are a great way to add a personal touch to a special occasion and set your big day apart from other weddings. But when it comes to wedding preparations, the situation is seldom ideal, especially when you&#8217;re faced with a mountain of tasks to complete before the big day and time is not exactly on your side. But does that mean you have to give up the idea of DIY-ing something for your wedding? SingaporeBrides says no. Think small, simple and classic. With craft paper, some basic stationery and a little guidance from us, we show you how to create do-it-yourself wedding favours for your eighty-odd (or more) guests. The best part? It takes less than half an hour.<\/p><div class=\"banner\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\">OA_show(5);<\/script><\/div><p><b><b>Here\u2019s what you need:<\/b><\/b><\/p><ul><li>2 pieces of Craft paper (one patterned and one plain)<\/li><li>Ruler<\/li><li>Pencil<\/li><li>Eraser<\/li><li>Scissors<\/li><li>Double-sided tape<\/li><li>Ribbon<\/li><\/ul><p>Time taken for each: 20 minutes<br>Average cost for each: $5<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies2-e1337611226738.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><p>Start by drawing a square box on the patterned craft paper. You should have 5 square shapes measuring 7cm by 7cm \u2013 this makes up the four sides of the box and its base.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies3-e1337611268320.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Once you\u2019ve done so, leave a border of 1cm on each side of the top and bottom squares. This enables you to attach the four sides of the square together to form a box.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies4-e1337611299396.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>The outline of your box should look like this once you\u2019re done.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies5-e1337611322589.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Proceed to cut the box out along the lines.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies6-e1337611364980.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Next, create a lid. To do so, repeat Steps 1 and 2. Your lid should measure 10cm by 10cm &#8211; to include a 1.5cm border on its four sides that will be fulded down in later steps.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies7-e1337611392707.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Draw two vertical lines on one side of the square, each 0.2cm away from the initial lines (as marked by the black arrows). This ensures that the lid is neither too tight nor too loose to fit the box properly. Do the same for the bottom of the box.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies8-e1337651548144.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>You should have an outline like this, when you&#8217;re done.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies9-e1337611437211.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Cut the outline out along the lines. For the sides with double lines, do remember to cut the outer-most lines (as marked by the black arrow).<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies10-e1337656066878.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Now, you should have two cutouts like this.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies11-e1337611495264.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Next, shape the cut-out into a box by bending the paper along the lines on all sides. Use a ruler to do this.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies12-e1337611517658.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Do the same for the lid. Remember to bend along the outer lines for the sides with two lines.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies13-e1337611544588.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Secure the sides of the box using double-sides tape. Cut out a small piece and attach it to the four borders on the top and bottom squares of the box.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies14-e1337611567637.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Remove the white part of the tape and attach the sides of the box together.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies15-e1337611587340.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Do the same for the lid. Repeat Steps 12 and 13. Instead of placing the double-sided tape on the entire length of the border, attach the tape to only the tip of the border.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies16-e1337653981101.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Now, fill the box up with Hershey&#8217;s kisses, or any item of your choice. Then, close the lid over the box. Take note not to fill the box to the brim; leave at least 1-2cm of gap for the lid to sit nicely on top.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies17-e1337654066362.jpg\" alt=\"\"\/><\/p><p>Use ribbons to secure and decorate your box. Keep things simple by creating three lines on the lid of the box. To do this, you need to twirl the ribbon three times over the top of the box. Use clear tape to secure the ribbon at the bottom of the box and cut off any excess ribbon. You may also opt to tie a bow at the top if you prefer.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/WeddingTies181-e1337654095606.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p><p>And voila! You have yourself a personalised wedding favour, and that didn&#8217;t take as long, or as much effort as you thought it would require, did it? Imagine how many you can create in a day, or during your one hour lunch break. Make them in different shapes, sizes or colours &#8211; the possibilities are limitless!
