You don\u2019t even have to be very good at arts and crafts to make these wonderful mementos. SingaporeBrides shows you how to Do-It-Yourself.<\/i><\/p><p><b class=\"special\">L<\/b>ast month, you accessorised the girls in your wedding party with a simple do-it-yourself <a href=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/2012\/02\/it%E2%80%99s-all-in-the-accessories\/\" target=\"_blank\">jewellery set<\/a>. This month, it\u2019s time to accessorise your flower girls. Capture their youth and naivety by customising a flower girl hairband and watch as they strut down the isle in unison \u2013 in both their dressing, steps and hair accessories!<\/p><div class=\"banner\"><script type=\"text\/javascript\">OA_show(5);<\/script><\/div><p>While they might not hold as important a role as your bridesmaids do, flower girls are a necessary element of your wedding entourage, especially since they look so adorably cute in their mini flouncy dresses and shiny dress shoes. Keep their hair tidy and in place by providing them with similar hairbands to dress their hair up. SingaporeBrides shows you the simple and quickstep-by-step method of creating a ribbon hairband for your flowergirls.<\/p><p><b><b>Here\u2019s what you need:<\/b><\/b><\/p><ul><li>Black hairband<\/li><li>Pink ribbon roll<\/li><li>Pink sequined ribbon add-on<\/li><li>Superglue<\/li><li>Faux diamonte in silver<\/li><\/ul><p>Time taken for each: 20 minutes<br>Average cost for each: $5.50<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons2-e1330328677298.jpg\" alt=\"\"  \/><p>1. You\u2019ll need approximately two metres of pink ribbon for the hairband. Measure and cut the desired length of ribbon.<\/b><\/b><\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons3-e1330328702259.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>2. With the underside of the hairband facing upwards towards you, apply a dab of superglue at the tip. Place and hold one end of the ribbon down until the glue dries.<\/p><p>Here\u2019s a tip: use the cap of the superglue to press down on the ribbon while the glue dries to prevent your hands from coming into contact with the glue.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons4-e1330328723728.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>3. When the glue has dried, turn the hairband with the right side up. Apply a dab of glue on the tip of this side before winding the ribbon round. Once again, hold until the glue dries.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons5-e1330328753161.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>5. Once the second application of glue dries, proceed to wind the rest of the ribbon around the hairband. The ribbon should overlap at a slanted angle to ensure all parts of the hairband will be covered.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons6-e1330328788128.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>6. When you reach the opposite end of the hairband, cut off any excess ribbon. Do remember to leave an extra 5cm of ribbon to cover the tip of the hairband.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons7-e1330328807859.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>8. Once at the tip of the hairband, repeat Steps 2 and 3 to secure the ribbon around the tip. Trim off any excess length of ribbon.<\/p><p>9. When dry, position the sequined ribbon about \u00bc length away from the tip. Attach the sequined ribbon by applying superglue to its underside. Hold until it dries.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons8-e1330328890467.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>10. Flip the hairband around and proceed to glue the flaps shut.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons9-e1330328909933.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>10. Using super glue, attach a faux silver diamant\u00e9 a distance away from the sequined ribbon. Hold down and wait until it secures itself.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"http:\/\/singaporebrides.com\/articles\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/JustRibbons10-e1330328936116.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><p>11. Repeat Step 10 and attach two more silver diamant\u00e9 &#8211; one further down from the first diamant\u00e9 and the other one on the opposite end of the hairband.<\/p><p>Now all that is left is to bring it out on your big day and thrill your flower girls with the pink and bling hairband. Give them something more tangible to bring home from your wedding than just memories and photos. Make it even sweeter by using a lighter shade of pink or any other colour to suit your wedding theme. Swop the sequined ribbon with an oversized flower for a garden look, or a netted mini veil for an avant-garde look.
