We got along as friends then, but we only got together when we were both posted to the same company in Hong Kong after graduation. Since I was the foreigner in Hong Kong and Alex was the local, he was very helpful and enthusiastic about bringing me around and helping me settle in. When I fell sick in Hong Kong one day, he surprised me at my doorstep with ingredients for cooking soup, and it all started from there.<\/p><p><b><b>What was the proposal like?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Chloe:<\/i> The proposal was really simple and cosy, at home. Alex wrapped the ring in a big box, trying to hide it as a gift for another occasion. When I opened it up, there was the ring, and he got down on two knees to propose. We were already going for a traditional hotel wedding in Hong Kong so we had the luxury to really do what we wanted for the Singapore wedding. We wanted something with an outdoor element and when Chloe\u2019s older sister recommended Open Farm Community which had just opened up then, we thought it was the perfect option. The colour theme we had was blush and peach, although the natural greenery at the location contributed a lot to the look too.<p><i>Chloe: <\/i>For DIY projects, we went on to Etsy to print our own menus, and designed our own favour stickers. We also printed old photos of our parents and grandparents on their wedding days for decoration. A friend who is a keen baker made these sweet and spicy nuts that we gave out as favours. We bought the jars from Taobao, which were a great deal, and designed stickers for the tops of the jars. The biggest DIY project though was definitely our place cards. We looked for photos of each individual guest and made little photo cards which indicated their table numbers, and behind which we wrote personal messages and what we wanted to thank them for. Because it was a relatively small wedding, we were able to write long and personalised messages to each of our guests. <\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" Community Wedding Singapore Chloe Alex 40\" \/><p><b><b>What was your wedding day like?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Chloe: <\/i>The first day of our wedding activities was more traditional. We had a Chinese tea ceremony followed by a small family dinner at Tower Club. <\/p><p>The actual wedding day at Open Farm Community was like a really great family party. Since it was a small wedding, we had the opportunity to go around and mingle with everyone. The band did a great job of entertaining all age groups; at one point we had the young children all singing along to \u201cThe Wheels on the Bus\u201d and \u201cOld Macdonalds.\u201d We also got very lucky with the weather. Thankfully it didn\u2019t rain so we could conduct our solemnisation outside and also drive the vintage car with the top down. <\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" \/><p><b><b>Can you share with us the most memorable moment of your wedding?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Chloe:<\/i>There were plenty of wonderful memories, but the best moment was definitely when I was walking down the aisle with my dad by my side, seeing Alex at the end of the aisle, and having my younger sister play the processional song on her flute.   <\/p><p><b><b>Can you tell us the cost of your wedding, and your number of guests?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Alex: <\/i>We had about 70 guests and the per head cost was around $150-200 for our Open Farm Community wedding. <\/p><img
