Tell us, was wedding planning easy for you, Audrie?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Audrie:<\/i> Being in the wedding industry helped me plan our wedding with lightning speed. I got most of my wedding needs settled within two weeks, and I knew exactly the type of look I wanted my wedding to have. So communicating with my wedding stylist, Med K\u00e4rlek, and boutique, Gowns Villa, on what I wanted was very easy.<\/p><p>I was certain from the start that I didn&#8217;t want a ballroom wedding because I was smitten with the look and feel of a more intimate Western-styled wedding. Fortunately, Eugene was also in favour of a smaller wedding consisting of our family and friends, that didn&#8217;t require us to spend too much on. So, searching for a venue was fairly easy because I was already familiar with the non-hotel wedding venues available in Singapore. In fact, my heart was quite set on one of the venues we had shortlisted, Nosh. The moment we stepped into the restaurant, we were sold. I was so in love with the romantic glow of the fairylights overhead, the rustic, charming feel of the deck, and the food that we actually brought forward our wedding two months just so we could have a Nosh wedding.<\/p><p><i>Eugene:<\/i> However, I had several concerns about the venue.The food served are all western dishes. Some of the elderly might not enjoy the food.Seating capacity is limited, and I was not able to invite all of the friends I wanted. Also, the venue is not accessible, and the elderly would have difficulty getting up to the deck. Another thing is that the venue is pretty warm even with the air cooler turned on. With the number of guests that we are expecting, I thought most of them would complain about the heat. And my main concern was that the pathway to the restaurant isn&#8217;t sheltered, and all guests had to go to the nearby carparks, park their cars, and walk over. So any rain will definitely kill the celebratory spirit and atmosphere of our Nosh wedding.I did not want a wedding where the take-aways for my guests are negative and that&#8217;s what they remember for their rest of their lives.<\/p><p><i>Audrie:<\/i> Although I was sure that Nosh was <i>the place<\/i> I wanted to get married at, we had two major hurdles to cross\u2014the make-up and size of our guest list. Both our families are rather big, especially Eugene&#8217;s, so trying to fit all our family members and friends into the intimate seating capacity of 150 was a challenge, because most of the seats would be taken up by family, leaving almost none for our friends. Secondly, we have quite a number of older and elderly relatives who might find getting up to the restaurant a challenge and might not be used to Western cuisine. We took some time to deliberate our guest list and if we wanted to go ahead with our Nosh wedding venue choice despite our concerns.In the end, we found a way to work around it, with the help of our family and bridal party.<\/p><p>Searching for our wedding favours took some time as well, because we wanted all our guests to be able to enjoy the favours. Eventually, we both agreed that both the young and old would be able to enjoy edible favours. That was when I remembered that my cousin&#8217;s husband, Daniel, imports chocolate Cocoa Bons and mints for corporate and retail use, and thought that chocolate would be the perfect wedding favour! He was very receptive to the idea and elated to be part of our wedding, and it was all thanks to him that we received many compliments on our favour.<\/p><p>Closer to the day, we had several last minute changes to our guest list and seating plan, and some unforeseen changes to Nosh\u2019s wedding venue decor. Which resulted in much last minute scrambling the week before the wedding. But what&#8217;s a wedding without these last minute changes? And it didn&#8217;t take me very long to decide on a colour palette of romantic pastel shades like blush, peach, cream and mint, accompanied by gold and rose gold tones. Before I met Dawn and Phillane from Med K\u00e4rlek, I created a Pinterest board filled with inspirations and colour combinations I wanted for our wedding.<\/p><p>They were very easy to talk to, and ever helpful and receptive to the countless ideas I had on my Pinterest board. They did a great job filtering through the many pins and conceptualised the rustic romantic look for Nosh that I wanted. They were there with me throughout the entire wedding planning process, helping me narrow down decor looks and coordinate colours for the set-up, gathering necessary vendors such as Flowerstory and Pearlyn and Paper for my flowers and wedding invites, updating me regularly on their progress, and even taking over the coordination with Nosh and the other vendors so Eugene and I could look forward to our big day without any troubles.<\/p><p>Dawn and Phillane personally oversaw the set-up of the restaurant together with their team to make sure that each flower and menu card was where it was supposed to be.<\/p><p>These girls became more like friends than my decorators. Without their help, I would not have been able to have the warm and romantic dream wedding I had always envisioned for myself. Singapore 36\"><p><b><b>How did you get into shape for the wedding?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Audrie:<\/i> The moment Eugene and I decided we were getting married, I started to change my diet, cutting out the unhealthy and high calorie food like fried food, desserts, and carbohydrates like white rice and bread. I complemented my change in diet with my regular hot yoga lessons and Youtube workout videos that I could easily execute at home on lazy days. But due to an old problem that returned earlier this year, I was forced to cease all form of exercise until the issue got better. To ensure that I would not gain weight from the amount of inactivity my body was in, I restricted my diet even more, having healthy breakfasts like soaked oats with nonfat plain yogurt with low calorie fruits like berries and bananas for healthy carbohydrates, homemade salad lunches, and light dinners like fish soup or yong tau foo with bee hoon. It wasn&#8217;t until I started going for weight loss acupuncture that I cut all forms of carbohydrates from dinner.<\/p><p>I went to H&amp;Y TCM Clinic for acupuncture for my slipped disc problem, and upon learning that I was getting married in July, my acupuncturist introduced me to their weight loss treatments through Tui Na, acupuncture and cupping. Initially, I was skeptical about the outcome of the weight loss treatments, but I figured that since I had nothing to lose by trying it, I decided to go for it. And I was surprised by the results. It actually worked! During the initial stages of the treatment, I didn&#8217;t see any weight loss in the scales, but I lost inches around my waist, tummy and arms, all without making any changes to my diet, except for omitting carbohydrates during dinner. After approximately two months of weight loss and slipped disc acupuncture treatments, my face was significantly sharper and I had lost a total of 2-2.5 inches around my waist and close to 3kg on the scales. The changes were extremely visible when I went for my final fitting with Gowns Villa, as the gown fit better and my arms were not as big as before.<\/p><p>Acupuncture for weight loss is a great temporary alternative weight loss method for brides who are unable to pursue the healthier diet-and-exercise route like me, or want one last push before the wedding. Did things run smoothly? How were you feeling?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Audrie:<\/i> To be honest, the whole day flew past in a blur. The morning was dedicated to fulfilling the traditional aspects of a wedding &#8211; the boisterous gate-crashing, and the travelling to and from our homes for the tea ceremonies with our families. We managed a short breather before we had to prepare for our solemnisation ceremony and dinner reception at Nosh.<\/p><p>There was hardly any time for us to bask in any one moment (or worry about anything) before we had to move forward to the next action for the day. From the moment Eugene and the boys arrived, everything seemed to be on fast forward, especially during dinner. We were having so much fun going around tables to talk and drink with our family and friends that we hardly ate or had time to just <i>be<\/i> together.<\/p><p>There were a few minor hiccups throughout the day, especially the moment I realised I had yet to put on my Si Dian Jin, and the boys were already outside playing games.<\/p><p>Our awesome bridal party were extremely helpful in making sure everything went according to plan, and if it didn&#8217;t, they found a way to solve it.<\/p><p>Eugene and I were looking forward to the celebrations at Nosh because we&#8217;d spent so much time deliberating on decor, entertainment and food choices, and also because I had been waiting to wed under the warm and romantic fairylights of Nosh every since I first stepped into the restaurant! I also got to fulfil one of my childhood wishes of having my father walk me down the aisle on my wedding day when he walked me down the bridge and handed me over to Eugene under the Nosh wedding floral arch.<\/p><p>Despite all the rush and craziness that day, we were really ecstatic and had a ton of fun, especially during dinner.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" We had a designated kids&#8217; corner with some colouring materials put together by Med K\u00e4rlek, which the children loved, so that was a huge relief.<\/p><p><i>Eugene:<\/i> Our Nosh wedding was different from the usual and a new experience for everyone and they enjoyed it. They loved the romantic atmosphere and the food.<\/p><p><b><b>Were there any particular moments during yourweddingat Nosh that were especially memorable or special to you?<\/b><\/b><\/p><p><i>Audrie:<\/i> Serving my 95-year-old grandmother and parents tea and receiving their blessings was the most memorable for me. I was extremely happy to have been able to fulfil my grandmother&#8217;s wish of seeing her youngest granddaughter marry. Of course, the crazy photo session with our bridal party at the end of the night, when we were both quite inebriated, was quite memorable, with a few crazy happenings that are forever etched in our minds.<\/p><p><i>Eugene:<\/i> The entire day was full of special moments but reciting our vows at the floral arch in front of our family was especially memorable.<\/p><img decoding=\"async\"
